A truly enjoyable experience from the moment i entered, to the moment i devoured some sweet treats. As soon as i entered I felt the décor was clean and orderly. I was welcomed with a smile which i always appreciate. The worker was friendly and knowledgable. She gave me the impression that she is very proud to be working at Lilac Bakery (this is important). Everything was arranged really neatly, and looked so fresh.
I picked up 8 cupcakes in a variety of different flavours. So far i’ve had the red velvet cake and it is totally to die for.

I’ve had a few cupcakes around the city and these are by far the best. The staff is always friendly. My only critique is I WISH they were able to have a few tables and chairs set up to sit and enjoy the desserts.
One of the only places in Winnipeg I know of that make the flavoured, French-​style macaroons… And they go fast! Besides a couple of these delicacies, I always get a chocolate cupcake with peanut butter icing.

Lilac Bakery is Winnipeg’s only retailer for Caffè Umbria Coffee — amazing coffee! I’m in Lilac Bakery every two weeks (at least!) for the coffee (I drink A LOT of STRONG coffee), and I always leave with coffee AND a yummy dessert.
Owner, Chris, is super-​friendly and helpful (as is his staff). Everybody raves about his cupcakes, which are plentiful and delicious (and you can get regular sized and minis!). His mini cakes and cookies are sooo good too.
This Thanksgiving’s soft pumpkin cookies — spicy, sweet and moist — should be a year long fixture. I could eat as many as Chris could make. :)

Carrot cake is owner’s mom’s and she is his main baker! Yum. Also the lemon poppyseed shortbread with lemon buttercream filling is to die for!

A cute little bakery that feature all kind of guilty pleasures such has cupcakes and slices to name a few. Yes they were good, and yes I fell guilty, and yes we will be going back.

Still one of my go to bakery in the city especially for cupcakes! They still have one of the best quality cupcakes and trust me, I’ve tried my fair share around the city. I think Lilac Bakery has the best cake to icing ratio and most importantly, their cupcakes are moist! The only disappointment I’ve had was when I arrive late in the day on a Saturday afternoon and there weren’t many items left; this only happened once out of my many visits in the past year. This is a popular bakery so the lack of selection I faced is more a testament of their popularity. Otherwise, they almost always have a good assortment of cupcake flavours.
The cupcakes are still $ 3 each. The classic chocolate (dark chocolate cake with chocolate frosting) is still a fave. My boyfriend still raves about the Chocolate & Peanut Butter cupcake that has a great PB buttercream with chocolate drizzle. I love their red velvet cupcake — this one is very popular as it usually sells out quickly. It’s a nice change from my default chocolate selections as it has a moist red coloured cake matched with a very yummy cream cheese frosting!!! Love love love. Some new flavours are the Oreo cupcake and Pineapple cupcake — all delicious without being overly sweet.
A new discovery of mine is the «incredible edible.» I think it was about $ 3 for a generous rich square of chocolate layer, and peanut butter and graham cracker base. If you are a Reeses Peanut Buttercup fanatic, this is the bakery rendition of it. The graham craker mixture in there gives the PB layer a nice texture. Have a glass of milk on hand cause you’ll need it to finish this incredible edible!
Service is always friendly and knowledgeable as the owner always takes time to explain all the goodies.

I would give another star but the cupcake I had (peanut butter + choco) had GOOD flavor, but was stale! :(((((
