I stayed here for 3 nights for the world cup in Winnipeg. I called the hotel twice in the previous months before arriving to confirm that the room had 2 beds as there were 4 of us staying there. On both calls I was told that my room had 2 beds. When we arrived to the hotel, they gave us a room with 1 queen bed. I told them I called previously, but the only option was to switch me to a smoking room with 2 beds. TERRIBLE customer service. Front desk was not apologetic and did not seem to care at all. The smell wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be and the room was decently clean. The wifi also didn’t work once for me while I stayed there and our blow dryer was broken. We did not rent a car, so the good thing about this hotel is that there is a walmart and places to eat in walking distance. There is a wonderful bar directly next store called the Hat Trick which we found to be a hidden gem. I would suggest staying at the Howard Johnson next door!

I stayed here for a total of three nights while passing through Winnipeg during a backcountry trip to Bissett with 10 other people. Two nights on the front end of the trip and one night on the return. We had booked 4 rooms; 3 double rooms and one queen room. This hotel is a perfect example of you get what you pay for. If you book a $ 60 a night hotel you are going to get $ 60 a night service. The parking area is pretty dodgy and the constant presence of auto with people sitting in them who are not staying at the hotel is a bit unnerving. From a safety stand point the local police are constant visitors to the Chicken Chef next door so thats a plus. Out of our 4 rooms the locks on two of the rooms didn’t work very well so you had to pay special attention when leaving your room to ensure the room was actually locked. The hotel claims to provide free Continental Breakfast, Free Parking, Free Wifi, a Fitness Center, a Spa /Hot tub, business center and laundry service. While all of these items are«present» in the hotel they are far from usable. The free continental breakfast is pretty awful even from a continental breakfast stand point. There is burnt coffee, bread, and cereal. While there are muffins they are stale. Just plan on getting food elsewhere for breakfast. It was so bad that on one of the days we just skipped it and got bagels and coffee from somewhere else for everyone. The free wifi was only functional for one of the three days we where there and even then it barely worked anywhere other than in the main lobby. The fitness center is located in the basement of the hotel and is poorly cared for. Being in the basement makes it a pretty unappealing spot to spend anytime. The business center is an old PC in the lobby that was likely made in the mid 90’s. There is a room in the basement labeled business center but it was located. The Hot Tub and Spa room is also present in the basement but it is used for storing the room cleaning carts and other supplies. So while it is there don’t plan on actually using it. I have no idea where the laundry service was, I can only assume it was in the basement being used as another storage room. Only suggestion I can make to someone looking for a hotel room is go somewhere else.

I stayed at the Motel One in Winnipeg for one night while driving across Canada. I’d been on the road for a few hours, and checking online this motel seemed to be a good price and easy to get to(it’s close to the TransCanada). It’s on the far west end of the city, so I’m not sure if it would be the place to stay if you’re looking to spend a few night in Winnipeg, but for a night it would be all right. The staff seemed nice, and the bed was generally comfortable. There was a continental breakfast, and a restaurant close by(that was unfortunately closed by the time I got in at night). In any case it wasn’t a spectacular hotel, but it was clean and comfortable and perfect for a good night’s sleep.
