I met my partner at a Stella’s, so the restaurant holds a special spot in my heart. I haven’t been back in the three years since I moved away, though, so I was really excited to go back. I was really impressed. They’ve definitely amped up their vegan game since I last visited. Everything is clearly labelled and they have quite a few options. Their Pad Thai was surprisingly delicious for a café/bakery and their roasted veg sandwich was great too. Service is always great. Love the new look of this particular location. Beware that if you park behind the restaurant, you need to get a parking pass to put on your dashboard or you might get a ticket…

I absolutely love Stella’s. While I was working in Winnipeg I couldn’t wait for a chance to head down to Stella’s for breakfast. Everything was prepared well and their fresh bread was delicious. If you are waiting for a table head over to their bakery next door, you won’t be disappointed.

Wow, has West Broadway ever changed since I last lived in Winnipeg! And Stella’s is almost enough to convince me to move back. It was a pretty busy Saturday morning when I stopped in, and managed to get a seat thanks to a lot of folks opting for the sunny patio at the end of summer. The atmosphere is what I’d call hipster-brunch(which is right up my alley, actually). I got a chai and the fantastic chorizo hash(chorizo sauage, hash browns, sunny side eggs, salsa, toast and homemade jam… I want it again just describing it). I will definitely be back the next time I’m in Winnipeg

I enjoy breakfast. In fact the absence of breakfast on the weekend pretty much ruins the only time I take for myself. Stella’s has become the steadfast for Winnipeg. Consistent and reliable, there is enough on the menu to ensure access to the«usuals» as well as the occasional culinary exploration. If you are looking for a reliable, this is it.

Oh my god, I fell in love with homemade berry jam. I had the eggs and toast with some free-range steak sausages as well as whole wheat toast. The toast was buttered but it was okay once I added some fried eggs and sausage. My girlfriend had an mushroom and swiss omlete which was pretty good. They take all sorts of credit cards so I ended up using a debit card with no foreign transaction fee. The location is quite busy being near Ozborne but lots of things to do in the area.

I had a nice brunch today at Stella’s. Hey, it was pretty tasty; however, the waitress was a little bit too sassy for me. She made a rude comment about the way I ordered my food and it really rubbed me the wrong way. I would go here again, but I have definitely had better service in my day.

Stella’s: an adorable little breakfast/brunch/lunch spot with(three?) locations in the ‘Peg. (Is that right? I think that’s right. Three locations, one in the *Winniport, too.) The intention: My companion and I were to get down to brass tacks, as it was, or were, or whatever. But first things are always first, and we were in dire need of some start-the-day sustenance… so to Stella’s we went upon her recommendation. In a nutshell: Great smoothies(I couldn’t decide!), delightful banana bread, basic breakfasts and more rounded-out offerings… and I didn’t even look at the lunch menu! This place sings affordable with a laid-back vibe and attentive yet not overbearing service. I dig. (An aside: This particular Stella’s feels kind of like a diner, but it’s not. No diner counter, which as best I can ascertain is requisite in concept. It’s just table seating… but it feels like a diner. Figure that one out, eh?) Must be a popular spot with locals, as ’twas relatively busy the entire time. Four stars for a solid, local option in Winnipeg that’s downright accessible, affordable, and most importantly, delicious. *Winniport review coming soon!

Some how or other we ended up here twice in the last week both time was about the same experience for dinner time. In the end it is close to what I expect from this small chain but this is currently my 3rd choice to go to. Do not get me wrong the place is OK however two others are better.

Took my mom out for breakfast here. Good menu selection. Had the vegetable omelette. Pretty big sized meal. Coffee was decent. Very noisy dining area. If you want to be able to hear a conversation the patio might be a better choice. Their house jam is amazing.

Wed, Jul 24 — after hearing all the hype, we tried Stella’s on Sherbrook about 9:30 this morning. The first thing that struck us upon entering is the noise level — an absolute din — we couldn’t even talk normally and I had trouble hearing the waitress. My wife ordered the waffle and was delighted with it. I ordered the Mexican breakfast and it was good but far from perfect. The tortilla and the hash browns were over-done to the point of almost being burnt. I don’t think we’ll be back — the food is not super enough to brave the din of the dining room.

Had the French Toast breakfast today and I very much enjoyed it — sat out on the patio because inside was super noisy Service was excellent and the eggs were just right

Went to this Stella’s the other day for the first time. I’ve been to three of them in the city so far. This one was pretty good. I first saw it driving by when I caught the stacks of bread in the bakery window and thought it seemed like a cool place to check out. I ate real simple, coffee and cinnamon bun, which was half off. The atmosphere was nice. There was a longer wait then I would have liked. I was really surprised they were so busy, and with the type of crowd they had, especially in the neighborhood it was in. It mainly seemed to be averagely moneyed intelligencia, etc. It was a fun busy atmosphere however. Seemed more electric then many Winnipeg spots. I almost felt like I was back in San Francisco again. I didn’t get much, but I’d certainly eat here again. But, if I was driving, I’d default to the one in Osborne. Much better, and seldom packed to the brim.

There is so much hype surrounding Stella’s, including the fact that they have amazing all day breakfast. This was my first visit and it was pretty average. I started with a lemonade– it was ok but very watery, basically some lemon juice in water. For my meal I had the veggie café– two eggs, hashbrowns, veggie patties, and 2 slices of their homemade rye bread. It also comes with their homemade jam and ketchup. Overall, nothing spectacular. Eggs were fine, hashbrowns were ok, bread was ok, veggie patties were… dry as dry could be. They had barley? onions, carrots, some other things that I could not identify. Skip these. I also had two blueberry pancakes, they were very good but next time I’ll ask for a side of butter because they don’t have that rich buttery flavour I was looking for and they don’t serve real maple syrup(just the generic, run of the mill stuff which was a disappointment after their homemade jam). My mom and sister each had a veggie burger and said they were good but also dry. For dessert we shared a chocolate torte that came with whipped cream and a raspberry sauce. This was delish! Overall for 3 entrees, 3 drinks, 2 coffees, and a dessert it was 60 bucks(woah) for not so amazing food that could definately be made better at home with a little effort. I’ll return to try their mexican breakfast but for first impressions, Stella’s just did A-Ok.

We had come here for breakfast with friends one day after they had somewhat built us up for it. I tend to enjoy a good brunch, and was looking forward to it. By the time we got there Sunday morning, there was quite a crowd. I ordered the banana blueberry French toast. I was heavily disappointed to discover that the blueberries were not only not fresh, but still frozen. However, I was so hungry by this point I scarfed it all down anyway. To sum up: Atmosphere — not bad, lots of tables, chairs, and window seating. It’s definitely not quiet though, as it seems to be constantly busy. In spite of that, our server was quite attentive. Food — Nothing special at all. Minus 1 star for the frozen blueberries. I don’t care what restaurant you are, fruit should not be served frozen unless lit’s some kind of dessert or with ice cream. Coffee was atypical café organic coffee — nothing spectacular, just coffee. Not likely to return if I find myself back in Winnipeg.

Stella’s is a Winnipeg chain that I wish we had in Edmonton. They serve fresh sandwiches, a number of homey entrees. Breakfast and baked goods are available from the time they open in the morning until 11 at night. My chicken sandwich with provolone was probably in the upper 20th percentile of all sandwiches I’ve ever eaten and the bread was particularly fresh. Take-out service was very friendly. I also like how Stella’s has at least twenty hearty vegetarian options in addition to a number of meaty items. Stella’s isn’t fast at all, but that’s not the point. Sit back, relax, and enjoy.

On a visit to Winnipeg, our bed and breakfast owner recommended this as the best to go grab a bite in our area. Stella’s is even getting a spot in the local Winnipeg airport; that is always a sign of a great local place! We went for dinner on a cold winter’s evening. To our surprise, there was no problem getting a table; we were seated at a window that faces Sherbrook Street. My sister, who is lactose intolerant, was given some nice suggestions by the waitress. She had the veggie burger with spicy lentil soup and really enjoyed both, especially the burger. She did not like her lemonade which had a liquor flavor to it for her. I had the beef chili with a house salad and beer. The beef in the chili was very tasty. This was a super hearty chili that your spoon could almost stand up in. A little too hearty for me, but it hit the spot nonetheless. The house salad was my favorite. It was served a delicious creamy Asian dressing and sunflower seeds; I could eat that for days. It also came with two slices of sourdough-like bread with a yummy butter/herb spread melted all over it. We enjoyed reading all of the postings for local events in the entry way, stopping in Stella’s Bakery next door, and checking out the graffiti wall between the two places. Next time we’re back in Winnipeg, we’ll definitely try them for breakfast!

I was here with a group of friends a few days ago and one of the best breakfasts for dinner EVER. I ordered the iced tea because they didn’t have ginger ale(??) and the menu said they brew it themselves. It was pretty good! Not too sweet and I could tell it wasn’t a bunch of chemicals and added flavours. For dinner I ordered the Mexican Breakfast which came with 2 tortillas that had refried beans, sunny side up eggs, cheese, tomato, and green onions with rosemary hashbrowns and some piles of guacamole and salsa and this odd yet tasty cilantro creamy sauce stuff. THISWASSOGOOD. I just want to eat this meal every day for the rest of my life. Next time I’m in Winnipeg I’m definitely coming back for this. OHMAN. I still can’t get over those hashbrowns.

Very cool and hip restaurant in a great Sherbrook location. The patio was awesome. It is framed by the bakery to the left, the restaurant to the right and a beautiful church behind the patio. The wall also had some well done graffiti art. The food and service was great. We discovered this place through a friend on our third last day in the city. We liked lunch and the atmosphere so much we went back the next day for breakfast. Over the two days we had the pancake breakfast, vegetable omelette, egg salad sandwich and roast chicken sandwich. The jam was so good we bought a jar to take home.

This is Stella’s third incarnation since their original on Osborne Street. Good food, but you’ll be waiting 15 minutes for your salad or soup. Unlike the Osborne Street location, you won’t have to wait for a seat here since it’s a larger space. The neighbourhood really needs a place like this. I give this place 3.5 stars.
