My mom took me here one time during her lunch break because she worked right around the corner, and I really enjoyed our meal. I lived in Winterpeg for less than a year, and this is one of the 3 restaurants I liked in this city. The Burger here was AMAZING. And during lunch, it came with a salad. It was so juicy and delicious, and not to mention huge. At the other location, we tried the steak, and the shrimp, and the lobster the whole shabang. The steak was a little dry as well as the shrimp. They overcooked our entrees for sure, but the service was good, and the baked potato was good as well. Giving this place 4 stars because of the experience I had at the Portage location.

Definitely the best Keg in the city. Great staff and better food. Try your steak«Chicago» for even more flavour

Have dined here several times over the past few years and have found it to be largely inconsistent. The very first trip to this particular Keg, we were seated in a section with a young server and I was absolutely blown away by his knowledge, dedication and attention to detail. His recommendations were spot on, the food was delivered promptly and prepared perfectly. Once he learned it was an anniversary dinner, he brought a complimentary dessert. Since that visit, however, the service has been hit and miss. The service is either on or off, with no middle ground. I generally order the baseball steak and it, too, is either bang on or under seasoned and underwhelming. My biggest gripe is the lounge which, at last visit, was a dimly lit nightclub-like environment with music so loud I could hardly hear my guests. Seemed a little out of place, all things considered. All in all, though, a classic venue kept clean and still worth a visit.

Stopped in for lunch and had the combo caesar salad and prime rib sandwich. Portion size was good but the prime rib did not have as much flavor as I would have expected. It was on the rare side and my wife thought that might be the reason. Service was excellent and we were seated right away even at lunch time.

As a road warrior, I dine in many restaurants in the U.S. And Canada. Frankly, I was a bit disappointed. The Keg Fries were package not hand cut and had been under the warming light to long prior to being served. The 10oz prime rib was a bit dry for my liking. It took 25 minutes to serve the prime rib, at least it could have been hot or at least warm. Again the warming lamp probably came into play. The crab cake was excellent that I had with my Prime Rib. The Wine selection was also a good pairing with the Prime Rib.

This Keg was the very first restaurant my wife and I went on a date to. That was four years ago, and we’ve been back several times since, this time for her birthday. The restaurant was busy as always, but the hostesses did their best and got us to a table in half the time they originally quoted. Our appetizers, Mushrooms Neptune and bacon scallop skewers, were outstanding. My wife ordered the Manhattan Special — she loved it — and I had the rib steak. I’d recommend getting the«Chicago» char on it… Awesome flavour. Gina, our waitress, took great care of us, and in the end my wife had a wonderful birthday. Thanks!

Same ol’ Keg as every other Keg in Canada. That said, it’s pretty good. The steaks are always cooked well, the service is always solid, and the waitresses are generally okay and don’t look like wildebeests. Out of the 4 Canadian steakhouses that we frequent(Earls, Moxie’s, Joeys, Chop, Keg) Keg is the best, but also the spendiest. It’s more like a cheap Ruth’s Chris while the others are more of an upscale Applebees. If you want a good steak, with a steakhouse atmosphere, check out The Keg.

I’ve been twice. The first time it was early and slow. The latter it was packed and we sat in the bar. Both times I had the 8oz sirloin cooked medium rare. Both times it was cooked perfectly. The staff was friendly but on the busy night they didn’t bring out our side order of Mac & cheese. Halfway through our meal I asked the waitress and she told us she forgot to mention the kitchen forgot to make it and it was going to be late. It arrived as we were finishing up our last few bites of our meals. When it arrived it was so-so. The cream base was too thick and paste like. I’m giving them the benefit and keeping it at four stars for the entrees.

Great steaks and nice environment to eat them in. My wife and I come here for our anniversary every year, but I wish I could come more. It is on the high end for price, so it falls into special occasion place for me. Don’t come here if you don’t like steak as the menu is pretty limited if you don’t like meat. I’ve never had a bad experience here, and I’d recommend it for those looking for a nice steakhouse. And that goes for the other locations too.

This is a KEG. It is very similar to the half dozen Keg’s I have went to in Stanley Park Vancouver to the Old Port in Montréal. Steaks(or some red meat dish) are their speciality and is recommended. I personally try to stay away from the seafood at this location as Winnipeg is in the center of North America and freshness can’t always be 100% guaranteed. Although they do bring it in «fresh», most atlantic or pacific seafood still needs many hours in planes, trains, and Automobiles… Expect to spend $ 100-$ 150 per couple if you have a couple drinks with your main course. Good service, good food, priced as such.

they seemed pretty disorganized when we walked in. maybe the hostess was new, but when we walked in to get a table, she said she had to check first or we could eat in the bar. the restaurant was three quarters empty. another person came by and immediately took us to an empty table. all was healed when the staff got to our table. he was engaging and got the food and beverages rolling immediately. he did a great job of getting our steaks and glasses of wine to us quickly and efficiently. the food, though not outstanding, was solid. i was disappointed that they ran out of the prime rib, but we were there later in the evening. so, i took that as a good sign.
