Joe The Mover

These guys are, hands down, the most amazing movers I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. They show up almost 10 minutes early, call to check in before the scheduled start time, show you a written estimate and breakdown ahead of time, and then power through the work at lightning speed.
I moved the contents of a 7×10 storage unit at Dundas and Dupont to my place at Spadina and College, and the whole thing took two hours from the time they showed up to the time the last box was in my room. This was also at 7:30 in the morning, so we were starting to hit rush hour traffic on Dupont at that time, but these guys still made it work — and work beautifully.
Nothing was damaged, they arranged everything exactly how I asked, took no breaks, and even let me ride up front in their truck to get to my new place.
Super highly, highly recommended.

We used Joe the Movers to move out of our 1+den apartment and had a great experience. They provided two guys (Mike and Naz) who were extremely punctual, friendly and hard working. They moved us out and into our house in 2.5 hours, which we thought was fast! We were charged $ 65 per hour which was one of the cheapest rates we found, plus an extra hour for travel time. They didn’t take any breaks.
I would definitely use Them again.

I’m a bit surprised by how negative a few of the reviews are here (and I didn’t see these before I booked them). Maybe it was a few bad employees though I also imagine moves in general are pretty stressful for people? I wasn’t looking for the cheapest mover, but I wanted it to be competitive — and at a final cost of $ 270 + tax + $ 50 gas fee (but not including tip), it seemed reasonable.
That said, I didn’t have much to move — I used them just for all my large and fragile items (flat screen, large art piece, bar fridge, large/​tall shelves, bed). There were two movers — John and Nathan who seemed pretty nice (and neither smoked that I was aware of — that’s apparently an issue from reading reviews elsewhere).
Joe the Mover was actually my second choice after reading a listing off BlogTO of movers but as it turns out I’m really happy with their service. They arrived a few minutes at the condo before the scheduled 9 am near Front and Spadina (no small feat given how brutal traffic has been around the city with construction lately), were fairly efficient with what I had, and delivered and unpacked what I had at the house within 2 hours in the north end of Leslieville.
Because I had flexibility on the timing of my move, I moved on a Thursday morning mid month well before the rush that usually happens and I had moved all my little things previously. I’d recommend them and I would use them again. They exceeded my expectations (which to be honest, I kept pretty minimal given the horrible experiences I’ve heard from others not to mention the nightmare (s) of helping friends move in the city).

After getting screwed over by two different moving companies, we had the best experience with Joe the Mover. Fast, efficient, professional, and cheap! We used them twice last year — once to move our stuff out of the house for a renovation, and once to move stuff back in. They did a great job. Everyone recos El Cheapo but we had a disastrous, $ 1200 move with them and will never go back. Joe the Mover is far superior!

Would never, ever use these folks again or recommend them.

This is the second time we’ve used Joe the mover with no issues.
In both cases, their men worked their butts off, with the occasional smoke break. They were careful when it came to breakable items, and wrapped all the furniture efficiently.
We paid by the hour (reasonable rate), plus travel fee. We were not charged for any additional fees, nor did they force us to pay before unloading everything.
They lose a star for being late for both moves by 15 minutes. All is forgiven!
As long as these guys are around, I wouldn’t dream of using anyone else given how sketchy so many moving companies are.
