The service was awesome! Without reservation, the staff set up a table for us in no time on a Friday night. The wine picked by the Sommelier was incredible and fascinating that the entire selection is from Chile. The food was well crafted and delicious with some of tonight’s plates I will truly never forget. I hope to come back for the wine list, the food, and the service. The best in the city!

One of the best restaurants I have visited in Santiago. They spoke English here, and the service was extremely fast and professional. They were patient and explained things carefully to us, even though we looked out of place and unkempt from hiking and traveling. The ambiance is amazing for wine lovers! They have all their wines listed on a chalkboard, a cool collection of wine bottle openers, and a cute map of Chile with different areas for wine. They have all sorts of selections of wine that focus on Chilean wines. Their selections of flights focus on different trios of wine like classic wines, exotic wines, land to sea, etc. They have a meat plate for $ 16.900, and it isn’t a light cheese/ham kind of plate at all! It comes with pork belly, blood sausage, some amazing regular sausage, chicken, etc. We underestimated it and ordered more. We also ordered their oysters, which was amazingly fresh yet creamy. We also got the crosscut rib stewed in red wine with sweet potato purée, and that was bites of heaven in my mouth. 10⁄10 could eat here for a week straight.

It’s almost embarrassing writing my five-star reviews here in Santiago, Either we are just lucky or this city has amazing restaurants serving world class food. I think it’s the latter. We arrived here on a recommendation from the nice people who are hosting my wife for her work. The Barrio Lastarria is an easy walk for us, and is a lovely little neighborhood. We hadn’t made a reservation, and this small restaurant was filling up quickly. The host made space for us, and spent a good deal of time patiently explaining the menu to us tourists. The servers were all very kind and attentive — even those who couldn’t help us with English. We ordered the wine pairing with the meal and were utterly impressed. We had three small wine tastings each paired with a small appetizer. The appetizers we served on 1) a shell, 2) a small wood stump, and 3) a rock — representing the sea, the valley, and the mountain. Impressive. All the appetizers were specially crafted and represented each region of Chile. We each then had an entrée, I order the smoked trout wondering how this freshwater fish would be served here in Chile. I ended up with the best trout I have ever eaten: lightly smoked, filleted without any bones, and stuffed with some veggies, cheese, and some ham. Everything from the presentation to the taste was unparalleled. My wife’s pasta was better than almost any we have eaten in Italy. We were so full when our dessert arrived, but the small chocolate lava cake with a small scoop of ice cream was so good, we each cleared our plate. This was a very memorable meal for both of us. Thank you, Bocanariz!

A casual atmosphere combined with diverse gorgeous food worthy of the extensive wine list. It can be noisy, so warning on that. Still great service and nice atmosphere: another example of superior food in Santiago.

Absolutely delicious. From the bread to the end of meal espresso, everything was excellent. Service was super friendly and spoke great english. We started with 2 wine flights, which the somelier explained very well. Then we split 4 small plates, all excellent: ceviche, empanadas, potatoes, and the blue cheese & pear salad. Each was excellent on its but the ceviche and blue cheese & pear salad stood out in flavor. Empanadas could have used some spicy sauce on the side for a flavor kick(we asked for some and received some mild pico-de-gallo). Pistachio crème brûlée for dessert was also delicious. This place pays attention to the details and it really works. Go here.

Had a wonderful dinner experience here and would highly recommend this place to anyone that visits Santiago! Would love to come here again if I’m ever back in town! Our group ordered wine flights and several appetizers to share. The local fish ceviche was amazingly fresh and flavorful that pops with bright complex flavors. We also ordered the quinoa bowl to share and that was delicious as well. Skip on the patas bravas appetizer as we all thought it was okay and nothing memorable. I ordered the shrimp served with plantains, blackrice, in a rich cream broth that was to die for! The service was excellent with throrough explanations of each wine flight and our entrees(all in English). Towards the end, we were invited to tour their quaint little wine cellar. The ambiance is exellent and décor spot on.

Loved this place! Between the food, wine, and atmosphere, this place is a must-try. It’s located in Lastarria neighborhood which I love. They have so many wine options, and the flight of wines is the way to go. We came here after a day of wineries so it was nice to see familiar vineyards and wine regions on the wine list. The food was great as well. I expected it to be only tapas style of food but they have entrees which are filling. To start we got a cheese plate which came with fruit spreads and nuts… all the cheeses were great. For my entrée I had shrimp in a cream sauce with plantains and black rice. The dish comes with full shrimp(head and all) that seem to be deep fried. But, no worries, there are plenty of peeled shrimp cooked in the dish so you don’t have to struggle with peeling the 3 that are more for aesthetics. Everything I had was great and would definitely recommend this place!

Cool interior atmosphere. Arrived without a reservation and the staff quickly made room for us. The interior is rustic and appealing. An amazing wine selection. We opted to get a variety of apps and share! What a great choice. The ceviche was excellent and the broccoli and quinoa salad was refreshing.

I enjoyed lunch and dinner on my last day in Santiago at this place. I loved lunch so much that I decided to come back for dinner. I loved every single dish, and I also loved the experience of tasting wine. The service was great too!

Stopped at Bocanariz for lunch on 10÷15÷15. We had the lunch«pre-fix» menu that came with a small tasting of gazpacho, entrée, glass of wine, and dessert. This came out to be less than $ 15 per person and the quaint neighborhood where this restaurant is located at is a plus. You can sit outside, but you are right next to the cars passing by so just be aware/ok with this fact.

Several reviews suggested not getting the food, and they could not have been more correct. I just returned from the physician’s office and have a confirmed case of food poisoning. I ordered the rabbit dish which I could not see well in the dim lighting. Have been suffering from travelers diarrhea ever since. Sorry Bocanariz, your wine lists came recommended but I would never recommend the food. A restaurant who doesn’t take food safety seriously is a dangerous one across the board.

Highly recommended. The staff was extremely attentive, the wine selection was unbelievable. We speak very little Spanish and that was no big deal at all. Who knew there were such incredible wine choices in Chile? I’m embarrassed to say, I didn’t. Now I will be seeking out Chilean wines. The food was delicious. A wide variety of food choices for whatever you had in mind. The atmosphere inside and outside the restaurant was hip and hopping. Being our first night in a foreign country, I can say we felt very safe. The price was about what I would expect in a U.S. restaurant for the same experience. 2 flights, a bottle of wine, two starters, and 2 entres for about $ 250 with 10% gratuity included. There were certainly less expensive(but good quality) wine choices available, though. Would definitely recommend.

What can I say? This is NOTTOBEMISSED in Santiago. We went on a Monday night, pretty late by my standards to be eating dinner, around 9 or so. It was packed. Its a comfortable, homey space with a great ambiance. One of the best wine bars in the city! Anyone who loves vino and wants to try all the best Chile has to offer, come here. Our sommelier was an intelligent and kind young man, and gave us a fabulous late harvest bottle on our way out. If the wine is not reason enough to visit this place, the restaurant itself is impressive. Very creative but still traditional, and portions were just the right size. I had two children in tow and they were treated very kindly and loved their meals. They begged to go back.

Great wine bar! We came here for the lunch without reservations. We got there very early, so we were seated without a problem. I do recommend making a reservation if you go during rush hour. The sommelier did a great job introducing the different Chilean wines. The food was excellent — inventive renditions of traditional flavors and ingredients. Get the smoked trout stuffed with Serrano ham and manchego cheese.

Hmm their wine selection was extensive and included top notch Chilean offerings with verticals. The tasting flights give you the option of trying many different wines. Ordered the salmon carppacio and scallops with roe foam to start with the Altitude tasting flight. I didn’t care for the thin sliced pecorino that normally accompanies beef carpaccio and it didn’t work for me here with salmon. The roe foam was more of a cream… and not a foam. Next up was the ocean to mountain trio that was on their tasting menu. The ceviche was definitely the highlight of this trio, the bruschetta with eggplant was just okay, and the lamb ham was one thin slice with a dry fried ball thingy underneath it. Next up was the duo of french pâté with onion confit jam, this was a rich highlight with the Carmenere tasting flight. Ended the meal with a reco of the short ribs which were 1 of the mains on their tasting menu. This dish fell way short, the short ribs lacked intense flavor or depth, and the meat was not cooked long enough to make it tender like short ribs should be. The sweet potato purée was meh. I wish I didn’t go with the servers reco on this dish. 3 stars for the food, 4.5 stars for the variety of wine and tasting flights, 3.5 stars for the service. Without the food this is a top notch wine bar, with the food its about 3 stars, however it’s tough to tell from not having sampled the entire menu. The service was attentive, however it took a long time to get my glass of Sauv Blanc while I had my ceviche dish, and then the same to get my red blend glass while the short rib dish came out. They did ask when to fire the short ribs which was nice so I didn’t sit with a full table of food. Total tab was 61,700 pesos. Not cheap. The wine was worth the freight, but the food fell a little short of expectations with the accolades from Wine Spectator etc.

Go for the wine, skip the food. Adorable place with a great vibe, we were excited to have a light lunch there, and even more excited to see the gluten free indication on the menu for my no-gluten boyfriend. I ordered the sparkling flight(burbujas!) to start and my he had the Vinos costeros flight. I really love wine flights, and they do them well here, labeling each one with the varietal, year and vineyard and placing them in tasting order for you. We ordered the ceviche, the papas bravas, the ribs, and the tabla de charcuteria. The papas tasted a bit stale, like they had been cooked earlier and then reheated when we ordered, the ribs were of poor quality and tough, and the jamon was cut too thick and wasn’t great quality meat either. The ceviche was probably the highlight, with a nice fresh flavor. The service throughout was top notch, and I’m sad I didn’t have a great experience — maybe the gluten-filled food is better?

Really close to being 5 stars for me. Call it 4.5. Bocanariz is for wine lovers and not to be missed if you are one. This is the only restaurant that I’ve ever found like this, and they’ve rightfully received accolades from Wine Enthusiast, Food & Wine, and others. They serve only Chilean wines, and have 36 different bottles that you can try by the glass. They also have two pages of pre assembled flights that you can try(3 tastes which are the equivalent of a full glass per flight), or you can assemble your own flight from any of the 36 wines they offer by the glass. On the last page on the menu is a 3 course pairing We showed up on a Saturday night without reservations, and it was still very crowded despite the rain outside. We were told it would be forty minutes which was fine, but there was oddly nowhere to wait. While there’s a wine bar at the back of the restaurant, you can’t actually order wine from it. We awkwardly stood around for maybe twenty minutes before we were seated at a table in a small room at the back of the restaurant. Not exactly prime seating, but I could care less as long as we were seated. I had two different flights of red — the«Signature Wines» and the«Undiscovered Wines» — both of which had good wines which I enjoyed, but nothing so great I was clamoring to get a bottle to take home. We started with one of the best salads I’ve probably ever had. it had blue cheese and apples balanced perfectly with a light dressing. It came out with a bread ring on top that we crushed into the salad like a croûton, which added the perfect amount of crunch to the salad. Just perfect. For my main, I had the eel. It was unlike any eel that I’ve ever tasted before(Unagi, mostly) and tasted like a white fish. I was a bit caught off guard and surprised by that but enjoyed it nonetheless. It wasn’t amazing, hence the 4.5 and not 5 stars, but it was very good. We definitely did get hustled a little since the server knew we were foreign — we asked for flat water and were brought the most expensive bottle of flat water that they had, «IceSwan» which is water from Patagonia which is bottled while playing classical music. I’m not joking. The water did taste better than normal though, which might all be in my head. Placebo affect of not, it did taste better. They have menus in both English and Spanish, but neither the server nor the host really spoke English. As a wine lover, I salute Bocanariz for its dedication and seriousness about wine and the pairing with food.

Charming wine bar that serves ONLY Chilean wines. If you are looking for a fun elegant place to try wine and enjoy an exquisite meal this is the place for you. They serve over 35 different wines by the glass and have their own wine cellar. I tried the tasting menu, a strategic combination of 5 wines an antre of duck, congrio, or lamb and a warm chocolate filled brownie with ice cream to top it off. Great for anyone who wants to try the vast selection of Chilean wines, even better for a romantic night on the town. The ambiance is great too, a modern style atmosphere which includes a chalk board listing all their wines, and a display case of different types of corkscrews. The head turner at Bocanariz is definitely their back patio which is ideal for a warm summer night. The staff are super helpful and happy to meet your every need.
