This was the first castle I ever visited! It is absolutely stunning! Looks like Sleeping Beauty’s Castle.

The Prague Castle is ginormous! If you’re interested at all in history and architecture this is the place for you!
The castle is so extensive! They have museums throughout that show you authentic clothing from the time era. It reminded me of madrigal shows that we used to put on in high school. It’s Monty Python times ten!
Put this on your checklist if you’re looking to marry royal and rich… plenty of bachelors on the loose roaming around looking for their queen…

Beautiful grounds to this place, absolutely stunning from nearly all vantage points. Perched up on a hill, the castle grounds could literally consume an entire day just venturing around if you’d let it. I mean everyplace you look there is just magnificent sites from the né were parts all the way to the oldest architectural wonders. The castle is an absolute must see for anyone visiting Prague and this is something that your eyes will always remember.

Incluye el convento de San Jorge, la catedral de Praga, la antigua residencia presidencial en tiempos comunistas, un enorme jardín y el palacio real o la casa de Gobierno Checo.
Es realmente un paseo para toda una tarde, yo fui con un tour que conocí a través del hostel, el guía era un californiano buena onda y re inteligente para la historia. Ya que al albergar tanta historia cultural, social y política de la ciudad y el país amerita tener a alguien erudito al lado para hacer mas interesante el paseo.
Duración del recorrido del castillo y sus distintas capillas, conventos, etc etc: Entre 4 y 5 horas.

Although I didn’t go for a guided tour, it was well worth the climb up to the castle. The view over Prague is stunning! There is history in every corner, and the Vitus cathedral in the middle is magnificent! My feet gets destroyed by walking on the bricks all day, but that’s not the castles fault of course.

What a beauty this place is. I happened to be here during February. It was snow and ice covered. And equally breathtaking. Love the winery up on top that overlook the entire city. Icicle all over the castle. Stunning cathedral!!!
Wear comfy shoes and walk all around. Best views of the city can be found here. And if you take the trolley/​bus, it drops you right outside. You can either take it back or walk towards the bridge.
Love the cathedrals and details. You can also go up for extra fee. Or walk down the cobble stones toward the winery. The winery was closed and snow covered when I went but I can only imagine how busy it must be in the summer time. To drink wine in the massive magical castle over looking your would be kingdom? Kind of enticing isn’t it :) It would be an ideal place to hide during the winter time in GOT era .
They also have many soldiers in different uniforms walking around! Some wouldn’t blink or move a muscle! Others will actually pose with you in a picture. It’s so very exciting! You can also find a few hot wine shops around the castle during the winter time. I had a few myself just so I don’t turn into a human Popsicle! Tip: wear comfy shoes! And watch where you walk. A lot of steps, stairs and steep areas. One can spend a whole day in here! It’s a must when you’re in Prague. Come for pictures, come for the tour, history! Either way, it’s a magical spot!

A beautiful complex full of long, arcing history through the centuries. To be clear, this is a traditional castle. Meaning, it is a complex built for fortitude and safety. It’s essentially a small town inside a fort with a large, impressive cathedral. If you are expecting Neuschwanstein, you are expecting the wrong type of castle.
There are many buildings to see, lots of shops, cafes to rest your feet and have a coffee for a bit, and plenty of history. We had a private driver take us to the top of the hill, and then walked down after finishing our touring of the grounds. I would not recommend walking up.

A must. Take a hike up the hill and enjoy this magnificent landmark. The castle, the grounds and gardens are stunning. You’ll have to pay an extra, but small fee to take photographs but it’s worth it. I loved every minute that we were here and I can’t wait to go back.

What a magnificent group of buildings! Between the cathedral, the museum and the gorgeous views, you can spend the whole day here and get your fill of art, culture and history. I also love the layers of architectural buildings, so starting from the cathedral on the 13^th century, to the castles of the 17^th and then the Art Deco and cubism of more recent eras– I was bedazzled and charmed and enthralled by how it all just fit together beautifully and didn’t look disjointed. Go visit this, it’s a Praha treasure not to be missed!

The best tip I can give for anything Prague Castle-​related is to plan on spending two half days there. I say this because it will be VERY crowded in the mornings, however, your tickets are good for two days. So, if you go in the mid to late-​afternoon, you can still visit three or four locations before they close up, and you can return the following day to finish up your tour. That’s the best way to visit this attraction.
The grounds are large, and there are buildings just everywhere. You can’t get into all of them, but the ones that are open, and that are included on your ticket are worth seeing.
I admit to (still) being more than a little confused as to how «Prague Castle» relates to the complex of buildings on the grounds. I’m pretty sure we visited everything that our tickets allowed us to visit (we got the second-​highest ticket), and I know I was suitably impressed by every building and the different exhibits within.
However, I had been expecting a castle — something along the lines of Edinburgh Castle — and this was not that. It is impressive, I’ll give it that. It’s just not at all what I had imagined.
So, the complex itself is worth your day, but I do reiterate the tip above — go later, utilize the two-​day option — otherwise you’ll be shoulder-​to-​shoulder with tourists from around the world. And if you have my luck, you’ll get the rude tourists who don’t give a rip if they’re stepping on you or constantly running into you. But that’s just my luck.
There is plenty to see here, and they do offer audio tours (for a fee, and it’s time-​bound, so don’t dawdle). Plus, there are shops dotted all around the grounds, so if you ever think, «I really wish I could buy a (n) [insert item here]…», chances are you won’t be too far away from a shop that can sell you said item.
Worth a visit, and worth the climb. Heck, we even saw the band that Rick Steves followed around when we were leaving the Castle one day. You just never know what you’ll stumble upon.
And those views…

Pictures dont do this church justice… The view fom the palace hilltop overlooking the river and red roof tops is worth the hike up the cobble stoned road… The church exterior is. Damn gonna say it… Awe inspiring

Well worth a visit. Once inside there are plenty of things to learn and see. Opted for the A ticket 350 crowns which will take you almost into all areas of the castle. You will need to pay an additional 150 crowns for exhibit X, which is the birds eye view of Prague. First you’ll hike up a good 500 steps, but after the exhaustion you’ll get to see the gears of the clock tower along with a magnificent view of the Charles Bridge and a up close look at the roof of the castle

The architecture here is amazing! So beautiful, especially if you like the gothic look! We paid a fee to visit various parts of the castle and other areas around. Worth the visit, and although the line to the cathedral is long, it moves really quickly. Beware of cutters, there are tons that move right on in!

As you walk towards the Charles Bridge, the Prague castle looms on the opposite bank, lit up by night and dominating by day. The castle is huge and is quite a walk from the centre of the city. It’ll take you a good few hours to really get around the castle and all its many attractions. There is the cathedral to visit, and the museums and of course a stunning Prague view to admire. Definitely recommend checking it out.

Castles always feel extremely spiritual, ancient royal glorification, and ultimate representation of wealth. Ambiance feels powerful in expression.
Prazsky Hrad is a charming, alluring Castle of interest for tourists especially. One of the largest Ancient Castle Complexes in the World. Although, I am highly skeptical about claim of reputation about most massive ancient castle ever anywhere. There is many Castles, Chateaus, Palaces feeling much more vast, and enormous inside, especially when they are built around Renaissance Classical Age later than Ancient times. I believe direct affiliation of title is about Ancient exclusively in association.
Inside of Prazsky Hrad feels extremely different from Palace of Versailles in Paris France, and Palace of Schonunbrunn in Vienna Austria. Another theme of ambiance, and decorations happening to create an inside of a Castle. Prazsky Hrad at least feels less isolated compared to those other castles, and absolutely beautiful architecture surrounding this castle, including stunning fairytale sights of Prague from Castle patio zone.
Ironically, many tourists don’t know there is more than 19 massive, hypnotic spell of interest Castles in all of Czech Republic.
All of those rural Czech castles actually resemble imperial, classical Palace of Versailles, and Palace of Schonbrunn more in environment compared to older, ancient Prazsky Hrad. I recommend all tourists in Czech Republic to also check out Hluboka Castle, Cesky Krumlov Castle, and Melnik Château.

A must when in Prague. While witnessing the castle in person, it felt as if I was in a Disney movie, Beauty and the Beast perhaps? It’s a bit of a hike to reach the castle, but the view is worthwhile and a little bit of exercise can be beneficial to your health.
There’s a stand prior to the hike that sells snacks — fries, hot dogs, etc. Atop the first hike, there’s an overview of Prague — breathtaking if you can catch it at sunset.
You need an admission ticket to enter the buildings so keep an eye out for the ticket office otherwise you’ll have to hike back down to purchase after reaching the top. There’s also a few restaurants near the top if you get hungry.

Das historische Wahrzeichen von Prag ist die Burg. Sie erhebt sich majestätisch über die Stadt. Man kann sie zu Fuß erklimmen oder mit der Straßenbahn 22, ist die bequemere Variante. Am Eingang schon zwei schicke, in hellblauer Uniform, Wachmänner zur Dekoration .
Die ganze Burganlage kann man gar nicht beschreiben, so gewaltig und schön ist diese. Wie eine kleine Stadt aufgebaut. Im Zentrum die wunderschöné Kathedrale. Es würde Seiten füllen alles genau zu beschreiben, aber dies kann man auch im Internet nachlesen.
Hier will ich nur meine Begeisterung mitteilen. Das war sicher nicht mein letzter Besuch.

Castelo de Praga merece ser saboreado com calma. Trata-​se do maior complexo do mundo dessa categoria e até hoje representa o centro político do país, morada das jóias da coroa do antigo reino da Boêmia e sede do governo presidencial da República Tcheca. Escolha entre as melhores opções de ticket que seu tempo (e bolso) permitir, mas não perca a troca de guarda no portão oeste, que acontece a cada hora.
Uma vez dentro do complexo, encare a fila para a gótica Catedral de São Vito, construída em 1344 e finalizada apenas em 1929. No Convento de São Jorge, a Galeria Nacional reúné arte tcheca dos séculos 16 e 18. Vistas lindas panorâmicas de Praga somente após uma subida de 287 degraus na Grande Torre. #ufa :D
Quase no final da visita você encontrará a ruela dourada, que… Não conto. :D Só indo lá para encontrar algo sensacional.
De dia ou com iluminação noturna, é sempre uma vista deslumbrante.

Wonderful! Make sure you visit St. Vitas Cathedral. Keep in Mind that if you go to the tower there is no elevator. The steps are long and very narrow and wind around quickly. It is not organized well. You have people going up and coming down at the same time and can’t see who is coming around. They do have someone at the bottom letting people in but they do not do a very good job. There was a line of people waiting and they just let people barge ahead because they split the party up but did not try to stop them. They were not the next on line to go up, so they cut in line.
Don’t bother with paying extra for Golden Lane. .All it is a and old street and buildings that sell gold jewelry. So you are paying for the privilege to shop overpriced goods.
Do get to the castle gate before 12 to see the changing of the guard. If you are early they will let a limited amount of people inside the courtyard and you may get a front row view of the changing of the guard. The costumes are made by a Oscar winning designer. The also have a band that plays from the windows. It you can’t get there early then you will have to watch from outside the courtyard and have a limited view.

This Castle is absolutely stunning. It’s one of those gorgeous scenic castles straight out of a fairy book. I mean it — no visit to Prague is complete without a visit here. You could easily spend an afternoon just walking around taking photos and visiting the grounds (and mostly free to boot!). There are quite a few churches surrounding the area that are worth a visit. However, I’d recommend just visiting one — St. Vitrus’s Cathedral. Anymore, and you’ll be seeing the same things over and over again.
If you’re already making the trek up to the castle, make sure you set some time aside to go and watch the change of the guards ceremony. It gets quite crowded so be sure to stake out a spot twenty minutes early. I think one of the best views is right inside the inner plaza where they have roped off a large section. If you can, get there early so you get a great view! Great chance to take plenty of photos.

I can’t leave Prague without writing a review about this place! I was here for the Prague Food Festival and then decided to take a stroll into the castle grounds. It’s quite a hike and an effort to get to (I think) from the metro stop, so I would personally just take tram 22 up to save the effort.
Anyways, Prague Castle is heralded as quite the amazing castle, and I do think it’s lovely. It’s nice that you can wander around it for free, and it definitely beats out a lot of the other castles that some of its peers have. The church is absolutely worth checking out since its towers are fairly iconic.
It’s a nice place but I don’t really feel like there’s much to do. It’s a great place to go to if you’re looking for a nice view of Prague though, since you can get a beautiful view of the city.
tldr; basically a must go when you’re in Prague

Auch wenn man keine Lust auf Museum, Kirche und Ausstellung hat, lohnt sich der Besuch. Die Burghöfe, die Gärten und das hübsche Gelände drumherum sind auch ohne Eintritt begehbar. Genießt die Aussicht auf die Stadt oder setzt euch in einem der Burghöfe auf eine Bank und beobachtet das bunte Touristentreiben. Sobald man irgendwo hinein will, muss man jedoch zahlen, sogar für das Goldene Gässchen.
Zur vollen Stunde findet übrigens der Wachwechsel am Haupteingang statt. Aber nicht zu viel erwarten: Es werden lediglich zwei Wachmänner durch zwei andere abgelöst und nach ein paar Minuten ist alles vorbei.
Tipp: Der kleine Souvenirladen im XX Burghof ist erstaunlicherweise spürbar günstiger als die Läden in der Altstadt. Und die Auswahl an Nettigkeiten mit Krtek (dem kleinen Maulwurf) ist erfreulich groß ;)

I must say that I was quite impressed with the enormity of Prague Castle. Here is an excerpt from the Castle’s website:
«The Prague Castle, an ancient symbol of the Czech lands, is the most significant Czech monument and one of the most important cultural institutions in the Czech Republic.
The Prague Castle was most likely founded in around 880 by Prince Bořivoj of the Premyslid Dynasty (Přemyslovci). According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the Prague Castle is the largest coherent castle complex in the world, with an area of almost 70,000 m². A UNESCO World Heritage site, it consists of a large-​scale composition of palaces and ecclesiastical buildings of various architectural styles, from Roman-​style buildings from the 10^th century through Gothic modifications in the 14^th century. The famous Slovenian architect Josip Plečnik was responsible for extensive renovations in the time of the First Republic (1918 – 1938). Who wouldn’t want to visit the largest ancient castle in the world? Visible from downtown, it was rather easy to take public transportation up to the foot of the castle. Prepare yourselves though! Most buses and trains leave passengers off at the bottom of a hill and you’ve got to walk up the rest of the way via a cobblestone pedestrian road. It was a good workout and well worth it too! Because you approach at a slower rate of speed, you’re really able to take in the size of the castle and stop to take a lot of photos on your way to the main entrance.
There were guided tours, maps to grab, rooms to check out, and sometimes during the day there’s a castle police performance on scooters that’s quite interesting. Think synchronized swimming but on land and on scooters. It’s really remarkable what these guys can do! There’s also a band that performs and the entire thing lasts about 15 – 20 mins.
We strolled around to check out the massive grounds and found lots of wonderful places to take photos of the rest of the city. If you want to avoid a paid tour you can walk around for free so long as you don’t enter any of the tour guided areas that are roped off.
Looking up at St. Vitus Cathedral, within the castle walls, you can capture yet more incredible photos that’ll make your friends jealous of your trip. This is one of the absolute coolest places I’ve seen in all of Europe.

Wow… just wow. Prague Castle is what I always dream a medieval castle will be like. Usually, I’m sorely disappointed, but not here!!! You can easily spend a whole day here as the Castle District is its own little village.
First, there will be MOBS of tourists. HORDES of humanity. Be prepared. Stay calm.
Second, you can walk all over the district for free — it only costs to go into the buildings and down the twee Golden Lane. If you pay for only one thing, make it St Vitus Cathedral. I’ve been to Westminster Abbey, St Peters and Notre Dame and St Vitus blew me away!!! The décor, especially in the side chapels, is uniquely Bohemian. Words can’t do it justice.
The Castle itself is cool, though most of the rooms are bare. Some on the upper level are still intricately decorated — even the door handles and hinges are extravagantly worked.
After spending time wandering the beautiful streets and squares, you can also visit Golden Lane which has cute little medieval houses/​workshops. If you have the time, Lobkowicz Palace is definitely worth the time (separate admission fee) — its a privately owned palace owned by a really, really rich family. I love that you really see the personal items of the family including letters from Beethoven and a gallery of portraits.
If you come, plan to spend the whole day. Plan to be enchanted by a fairy tale castle city, and prepare to have your feet stepped on by 3 billion fellow tourists. It’s worth it.
