Propaganda Pub

Very cool bar in Prague. Has a bit of an underground scene type feel. It gets quite gross as the night wears on (and they need to do something about the guys toilets which were seriously overflowing when we were there). The bar has a few different rooms to explore and plays some really decent music. They have some really epic drink deals too, it was something like 400 czk for 10 shots! It does get pretty full but there is plenty of room throughout the bar. The only thing missing is a coat check!

The only thing I don’t like about Propaganda is that it’s really smoky.
Their unique offer is flavour-​infused vodkas, which are excellent. They also have drink specials from time to time, and draft beer at about the normal price (which as of last time I was in Prague was about 35−40Kc tops). The décor is all old Communist era propaganda posters (hence the name) which are pretty neat, it has almost the feel of a bunker. Note the clock on the wall by the bar… permanently set at Two Minutes To Midnight, like the doomsday clock.
It gets pretty packed, so get to the bar and get your drinks quickly if it is. And try the pesto vodka. It’s really, really excellent.

This bar has had many names over the past few years, including a spiel as a vodka bar. Sadly the vodka options were very limited when I was visiting, they were out of almost everything on the list. The waitress was unhelpful and we had a long wait. They charged an entry fee for no reason that I could ascertain, but gave a free shot to make you feel a bit better about paying. The nature of the bar means there is no ventilation, so it is always super smoky. The best thing about this bar and the only redeeming quality is the décor. A very cool collection of treasures from the socialist era here in Prague. It is worth going once to check it out and appreciate all the cool underground rooms.

Live music? Karaōke? A sight to see in itself? Propaganda has it all. I find myself drifting from the bar and past the archway to the room that makes the name, where Propaganda posters litter the walls in true ambiance. The bar has a wide selection of beers that you don’t see around often on tap, and are a refreshing way to end, or if it’s live music that night, begin, your night. Sometimes, they even have karaōke beside the giant statue of Stalin painted as the joker… I wish I could live there.

Depende la hora que vayas se puede caminar por dentro y mirar las pancartas, carteles y figuras que tienen colgadas por las paredes/​techo, beber una buena cerveza y disfrutar de la música (la verdad muy animado). Llega un momento en que se peta de jóvencicos y jovencicas y ya tienes el lío hecho y el suelo se llena de cerveza con la que cada paso te quedas pegado. Pero eh! es de mucho encanto el pub: D

Nestled in the heart of the old city area lies Propaganda, a dark, dreary, cave-​like bar decorated with odd adornments and old propaganda posters. Like in all of Prague, the beer is pretty cheap (to us Americans) and they offer a nice selection of Czech brews. Some of the staff is a bit surly but it adds to the charm. I killed a lot of time here … and a lot of brain cells.

This is the dance club that I ended up at after a day long beer tour an adventure. Thank god we ended up here. It’s a fantastic basement dance club disguised as a shitty dance bar. Don’t let the nautical star fool you. This place goes hard and is amazing.
Once you walk down the stairs, get a half liter from the bar before the line gets too long. As with all things in Praha nightlife, pay cash. Also, don’t be the dick that brings your drink with you on the dance floor.
Make sure that you can still keep it between the navigational buoys on the way out because drinking in the cave can be disorienting.

Cool new addition to my cultural tour. I love a cavern of a bar to just lose track of time. Good prices. Good music. Late nights guarenteed.

Had my first Propaganda moment the other day. (Be advised = It is actually called the Iron Curtain now as there is a Czech Propaganda bar near the National Theatre).
It’s the kind of bar to go to at a certain time of the night. Too early and you will be alone. But when the night has got going it has a good crowd and laughs can be had.

Super Live Musik, allerdings sehr laut. Als Getränke werden zahlreiche Cocktails auf Wodka Basis in den verschiedensten Geschmackrichtungen angeboten.
Das Kellergewölbe ist gesäumt mit Bildern aus dem Kommunismus, aber auch von Vaclav Havel.
Insgesamt eine nette Kneipe um einfach nur was trinken zu gehen.

Le 1er jour de l’année 2011, nous (des amis et moi) sommes allés dans ce bar vers 19h pour boire un coup, juste comme ça. L’amie qui nous hébergeait à Prague était déjà venue.
Comme beaucoup d’autres bars et pubs dans la ville, le propaganda se trouve dans une grande cave voûtée. On y accède par un escalier assez large (avec tapis rouge s’il vous plaît !), le comptoir à l’entrée est sympa, les employés nous saluent. Il y a peu de monde, on trouve facilement une place aux tables en bois, genre bistro français. La déco, quelque peu minimaliste, est sympa malgré tout, avec deux vieilles mobylettes suspendues aux murs, quelques vieilles affiches publicitaires… Au fond, une petite scèné devant un mur peint de couleurs vives, bien décoré. Et dans le coin, une grande statue du Joker de Batman. La bonne suprise fut qu’un concert était prévu, nous sommes donc resté plus longtemps que nous le pensions. Nous avons eu ainsi l’occasion de tester différentes boissons proposées par la carte plutôt généreuse: bières, cocktails, vodkas, softs, boissons chaudes etc… Et plus tard dans la soirée, ayant une petite fringale, nous avons profité de leur menu grill (poulet, porc ou saucisse). L’adition né fut pas douloureuse, car malgré une bonne quinzaine de boissons (cocktails, bières, cafés) et 3 repas, nous avons payé moins de 1400 couronnes, soit environ 55EUR… Et les bières sont servies en barons !
Un des points forts de ce pub était la propreté des toilettes. Peut-​être était-​ce parce qu’il y avait peu de monde au départ? (bien que le bar se soit rempli pour le concert…). Aussi, un des serveurs (le patron? Il semblait le plus âgé) était particulièrement sympathique.
Le point faible, le seul que je vois: il n’y avait pas de ventilation (ou alors il fallait bien regarder pour la trouver !!) ce qui est un peu gênant dans cet endroit sous terre et… fumeur, comme tous les autres bars de la ville…

Eine gemütliche Kneipe in der Altstadt. Durchschnittliche Preisen, viel Platz und Kommunistbilder als Dekoration auf die Wände (= die Name Propaganda). Wir waren am einem Samstagabend dort, es war nicht so voll nach Mitternacht und außerdem hat eine sehr gute Band gespielt.
