Looks can be deceiving! Though it appears to be a bodega, the beer list says otherwise. There are some very nice brews on tap as well as at least one (think Somerset, not Somersby) cider. The service is good and the pours are generous, but the smoke from other patrons keeps me from enjoying my stay here longer than one beer. Just have one and move on, and I hope you’re not all gussied up because your fancy dress is going to stink of smoke. Really unfortunate since it is an otherwise nice little bar.

Lord Nelson deserves a 5 just for the quality of its beer alone. It is a complete gem and quite a find in the central area of Copenhagen. Quite easy to miss as it is on a bustling street, but one you duck down into the place it has a very down home, dive bar feel (in the best possible way). Bar staff VERY knowledgable about beer and friendly to boot. You may end up listening to Led Zeppelin’s back catalogue while you are there, but you will not regret your time and money spent here.

I think if I had gone in when smoking was allowed then my experience may have been very different, but on a Friday up until 10pm it is smoke free, so I could just enjoy the beer and leave before the locals started lighting up.
it is an «old mans» pub, wood panels, lots of locals and not very nice toilets. So far not much to shout about. What they specialise in though is worth a look if you like craft beer. They stock on tap 10 — 15 beers from Danish micro breweries and have a lot of IPA’s amongst them. Alongside this the locals were extremely friendly, recommending loads of other craft bars and marking them on our map for us. The owner was also friendly, an English guy happy to chat away about beer and life in Denmark.
All in, well worth a look to try some new beers. Perhaps avoid the smoking hours and go when you can just enjoy the beer and chat smoke free.

Nice location, right around the corner from 2 of my favorite people in Copenhagen. Nice beer, too, but the smoking is so bad here that even delicious beer can’t raise my stars.
Disgusting. Pure and simple, the smoke is disgusting, and ruins the flavor of their well-​chosen beer.

Sehr gute Kneipe, um dänisches Bier zu trinken. Das Ambiente ist Rustikal und spätestens nach dem ersten Bier gemütlich. Wenn man sich nicht entscheiden kann welches Bier man trinken möchte kann man auch vorher verkosten. Ein muss, wenn man in Kopenhagen ist.

This is the number 1 bar in Copenhagen for Danish beer. They have a regularly updating beer (+cider) menu (I have witnessed them gather up the menus and distribute new ones mid evening). Recently I enjoyed some pineapple cider and some kind of smokey devil’s brew.
They don’t want to be thought of as an English bar, as despite the name (and the bartender) that isn’t really the direction they want to head in. It doesn’t really look like an English bar to be honest. It is more reminiscent of a typical Danish dive (I mean
the nice senseif there is one). Surprised they went for the name they did though.
Smoking is still allowed here, which in a small bar can mean it gets a bit smoky. In Denmark smoking is only banned in larger pubs and barswhich doesn’t quite make sense to me. Still. sometimes I miss the smoke ridden atmosphere of old.
