I love going to cathedrals, churches, and other religious buildings because they are always beautiful and this one does not disappoint. It’s a fairly simple floor plan with a huge dome. The dome is amazing and ornately decorated. Unlike Catholic Churches that has various paintings of scenes in the bible and sculptures of different saints, this place have none of it. There’s a huge cross in the middle and candles that surround it.
The entrance is free, and warns visitors that the church is a place to pray and reflect so picture taking and selfies are not appropriate. It’s one of those places where you have to take a pic oin your head and use your memory to see it again.

So its cool. Yep, a really pretty church with a dome and you go in and take a few photos.
But then:
They open up entry to the dome at 1pm (sharp! As the sign says) and you pay your 30kr so you can walk to the top of the building. And so it happened I just waltzed in at 12.53pm and chose to wait it out.
Guys, if you’re going to see this attraction, plan ahead. I know on Sundays they open the roof to a max of 30 people at 1pm and 3pm (sharp! Remember?) Not sure about the other days– look it up.
Not only do you get to see the Church, you will be granted access to walk all the stairs to the top of the dome where you will have access to Copenhagen in all its infinite glory!
Let me tell you now– this is not for the claustrophobic or those struggling with mobility (there a numerous steps, extremely narrow and extremely tight staircases). If you make it up, the views are astounding and this has by far been my favorite tourist attraction on this trip.

Oceanside, CA
Frederik’s Church or the «Marble Church» is a beautiful cathedral that has a bit of a mini-​Pantheon slash mini-​St Peters look. It’s not particularly large, but has enormous presence as it sort of appears out from between buildings in central CPH. Unique rococo style architecture makes it quite unique from the outside. Inside you are able to climb up the dome and get quite a nice view of the Danish Royal Palace and its plaza along with the stunning Opera House across the water. Definitely recommended.

Frederikskirke, more popularly known as Marble Church, is a Lutheran church with striking rococo architecture and a green copper dome. You will find this Church near the Amalienborg Palace and is the elegant Frederiksstaden district. This is very popular for weddings. I was surprised to find Kierkegaard see among the statues of prominent theologians around the building.

Vom Schlossplatz aus hat man bereits einen Blick auf diese Kirche. Der Bau dieser Kirche begann 1749, und erinnert etwas an den Vatikan.
Die Kuppel welche begehbar ist, hat einen Durchmesser von 31 m und wird von 12 Säulen getragen. Diese Kirche ist das grösste Kirchengebäude in Skandinavien.
König Frederik (der damalige Namensgeber) verlangte eine komplette Bauausführung in Marmor. Das war für den damaligen Staatshaushalt nicht tragbar. Der Bau der 1749 begann wurde wegen Unstimmigkeiten 1770 gestoppt, und der Bau war somit eine «Bauruine»
Erst rund 100 Jahre später (1874) verkaufte der Dänische Staat diese Ruine mit der Auflage die Kirche nach alten Plänen fertigzustellen. Statt gefordertem Marmor wurde Dänischer Sandstein verwandt.
Am 19. August 1894 wurde die nun fertige Kirche feierlich geweiht.
Im Innenraum fällt sofort die Orgel. Auch die hohe Kuppel und Empore sind sehenswert. Man sollte hier einmal hereinschauen.

München, Bayern
Die Marmorkirche ist direkt hinter dem Schloß Amalienburg und auf zahlreichen Touristenfotos im Hintergrund zu sehen. Sie ist dem Römisch-​vatikanischen Petersdom nachempfunden — allerdings natürlich viel kleiner. Aber Rom-​Kenner werden beim Anblick der Kuppel direkt an die Ewige Stadt Italiens erinnert.
Im Innern war es — wie von «MissLungen» bereits beschrieben, in der Tat sehr ruhig, was auch ich sehr genossen habe. Die von lärmenden Touristen völlig überlaufenen Kirchen an anderen Orten nerven gewaltig, zumal, wenn man sich nicht zu benehmen weiß und respektlos in den Gotteshäusern umhertölpelt… 8-(

Wenn man beim Schloss ist, sollte man dort auf jedem Fall reinschauen. Außerdem gibt es davor kostenlose Parkplätze.

Auch so né Kirche, die einem angepriesen wird. Als Fehlbau. Weil das mit dem Marmor eigentlich nicht geklappt hat und am Ende nur Sandstein zur Hand war.
Na gut. Von außen sieht die Kirche ziiiiiiemlich imposant aus. Man denkt «jetzt geh ich da mal für die nächsten zwei Stunden rein» und kommt raus: nach zehn Minuten.
Von Innen ist sie dann nämlich ziemlich klein und überschaubar, einzig die Kuppel ist ziemlich hoch und bringt einen zum Staunen.
Ich bin ja immer Fan, wenn keiner da ist, der mich beim Gucken nervt. Das war hier in der Kirche der Fall. Wir waren zu fünft (drei Fremde und wir) hier und keiner hat was gesagt. Das mag ich. Das ist dann wieder Kirche, theoretisch kann man hier auch mal an den Herrn denken wenn man denn will. Und wenn man nicht will ist es auch egal.
Imposant sieht die Kirche vor allem dann aus, wenn man vom Palast aus zurückblickt und sie zwischen den Dächern auftaucht. Das ist schick.

Die Frederikskirche (dänisch Frederiks Kirken) wird auch Marmorkirche genannt (dies ist auf das verwendete Baumaterial zurück zu führen), ist ein Gebäude in unmittelbarer Nähe des Schlosses Amalienborg in Kopenhagen. Die begehbare Kuppel durchmisst 31 m und ist die größte an einem Kirchengebäude in Skandinavien.
Die Außenansicht ist schon atemberaubend, aber auch im Inneren hinterlässt diese Kirche einen bleibenden Eindruck. Sehr zentral gelegen, viele Straßen laufen direkt auf diese Kirche zu. Um die Kirche herum sind viele Skulpturen aus der Bibel aufgestellt. Die Kuppel der Kirche ist einzigartig, der Altar wunderschön. Ein sehr friedlicher Platz um ein wenig durchzuatmen.

Zürich, Schweiz
Die Marmorkirche liegt direkt neben Schloss Amalienburg und bietet neben einem hübschen Innenraum vor allem einen runderbaren Blick über den nördlichen Teil von Kopenhagen von ihrem Turm.
Man sollte sich jedoch genau mit den Zeiten für die Turmführungen beschäftigen, da diese nur 1 – 2 mal pro Tag stattfinden.
