Francis Pony

Such a great bar in the centre of Copenhagen. A favorite among our friends as a place to grab cocktails midweek and on the weekend. Great music and a cozy atmosphere. Ginger shots are delicious (and feel healthy) and the moijitos are delicious! Have also tried the gin cocktails. They have 2 for 1 cocktails (80dkk) — definitely make the most of it!

This is probably a fine place for very young adults but if you’re over thirty you may want to avoid it. The cocktail menu seemed to have potential but the drinks tasted awful.

Drinks are good here especially when you come at happy hour and get two for one. Good priced cocktails always taste better!
The atmosphere is very varying. I have been on nights when I thought it was nice with good music and not too many people but I have also been at times when it is full of people, average music and a queue for everything. On the plus side you don’t pay entrance (unless it’s winter and you need to pay for your coat) so you can just pop in and check the place out. Its strategical location close to the Jane and Strøm bar makes it easier to switch to another place if the atmosphere is not on the winning side.
There are two floors and the most chill is downstairs. Upstairs there is more room to dance and more area to sit down. Both floors have a bar and toilets, but the garderobe is at the back of the second floor. I usually try to find a place downstairs as I like it more chill. Plus the cold blueish lighting upstairs is not of my taste.
All in all it is an average bar with ok cocktails and a mixed crowd from 20 to 30 year olds (average probably somewhere in the middle). If you want to start the night with cheap cocktails go for the happy hour (Wednesdays all night, Thursdays-​Saturdays till midnight).

Really nice cocktail bar in the center of Copenhagen! Been there a few times and its always a good place to start the night. The bartenders really know what they’re doing and literally everything on the drink menu is fantastic (I got the Zombie, highly recommended). Good service and polite bartenders. Great place to hang out with friends and mingle with the locals. I’ve never met anyone in there who was less than welcoming. Overall top-​notch cocktails and a great vibe.
Protip: Wednesday is two for one cocktails! Always awesome

My sister is getting married in Denmark and as big sister and maid of honor, I was in charge of organizing the bachelorette party.
It was quite a challenge in a different country, but Danish fellow-​Yelpers advised me a few places of which Francis Pony was one.
Was I (and the whole group, including my sister) happy we went to Francis Pony!
Michelle, the general manager, who I contacted to inform about a private area, was just amazing in thinking in solutions. She made some exceptions and took initiative that meant a lot to us and added to making the night a succes and the bride-​to-​be a very happy lady!
I expected upfront that we would visit quite some bars that evening, but we actually had such a good time at Francis Pony that we stayed there for most of the night.
The atmosphere was really chill, the bartenders were friendly and quick, the music was good, we had a nice lounge seat to fit our whole group (thanks to Michelle), enough people to make it crowded in a good way, but not too full that it would be uncomfortable.
Also the crowd that visited Francis Pony, that we encountered that evening, were very nice and open.
It was possible to dance (we did at some point), although most people there didn’t go for that.
Let me think of some flaws, before I don’t sound credible anymore ;) … Well if I have to say SOMETHING then maybe that there is just one toilet for the ladies, but I never had to wait, so I wouldn’t consider it a con myself.
Keep in consideration that we just visited the upstairs, so anything I’ve said goes for there.
When the upstairs is open, I can recommend this as a place to chill with your friends and shake your shimmy on the floor when you get tired of that :)

Been there several times and always is a great time, although I’ve used it only as the night’s starter because of the 2−4−1 happy hour.
Drinks and cocktails have the correct strength and bartenders are not as slow as in other bars in Copenhagen. Never had to wait long at the cue, even when is crowded.
There’s a part where people can smoke, but many go outside.
The music is on the right volume to allow you talk with others and you can also go upstairs and dance.

Drinks are cheap before 24.00, especially as for CPH. Good to start a party. Plus for the tasty interior and dancy music. However, when they get crowdy, they play in selection at the entrance, which is not cool in CPH, that’s why they get only four.

I love their cocktail specials here and the atmosphere. Den hyggelidt! The drinks are stronger than Miami bar and you can choose from 60 kr to 80 kr. But remember to grab your cocktail before 23:45! Lines get long and the bartenders work a bit slower to make your drink for you.

It can get very crowded. The best night is when they are having cocktails 2 for 1. Its a good place to start off the night or drinking on a Tuesday. 2 years ago it was cheap and the cocktails were strong! Skål!

I was a little torn between 3 or 4 stars. 4: because the place is great ! Really nice cocktails for cheap money, it is centrally located in Cph city and angry doormen sorting people on looks and behavior. 3: you are allowed to smoke, big bommer ! But then again, actually, most people go outside to smoke, event during the nice cold winters of Denmark. Secondly, there are way to few bartenders in the two bars, resulting in very long lines — kind of understandable with those prices.
In the end I’m sticking to my 4 stars, after all I keep returning again and again :)

Francis Pony is my absolute favorite bar in all of Copenhagen. I love well made cocktails, but I’m not a purist, so I always enjoy seeing what their latest concoctions are. My favorite drink is their spicy chili white russian — yum! As other reviews have mentioned, their «2 cocktails for 60 kr» happy hour is killer, make sure not to miss it (only during weekdays). I love the little fires. If it’s open, be sure to check out the upstairs!

Cocktail-​bar with a good selection of cocktails. The bartenders are really good at what they are doing and the drinks are served to be enjoyed in a cozy atmosphere.
I would definately recommend this to a friend, at Fridays they have 2 drinks for the price of 1 until midnight!
