Excellent pizza. Located not far from the center of the city. I came here with a friend on a Tuesday evening. Nice quiet restaurant with a cozy feel. There are white walls with two brick pillars in the middle of the restaurant. I ordered the Capitano pizza, which was absolutely delicious. Organic Finnish dry-cured ham, mozzarella, smoked cheese, and almond green pesto. Crust was incredibly soft and chewy, which I think is key in any Neopolitan pizza. The flavors from the sauce and cheese were incredible. The pesto was mixed with the red sauce perfectly, slightly sweet taste. The ham was good, slightly salty but not too much. I forget what my friend got but it had salami and looked great. I included a picture. Service was excellent. Waitress spoke perfect English(I think most people in Helsinki do). Even though it wasn’t the best pizza I’ve ever had, it was very good, and I’m going to give 5 stars because I think they deserve it. 4.5÷5 if I’m being technical. I would go back without a doubt if I lived here.

We popped in here for pizza on a recommendation. Nice minimalist décor with wooden benches and exposed brick and mellow tunes. There’s open kitchen where you can see the chef making the dough and pizza from scratch and a good selection of cakes on the counter. The wait was a little long but that’s ok considering they are made from scratch. Can’t complain about the service either and a nice selection of beers and organic soft drinks. Would come back!

Good pizza. Crust is thin and crispy. The Capitano was our favorite. The pear/gorgonzola left something to be desired. The acidity of the red sauce was a little mismatched with the sweetness of the pears. On the plus side, all ingredients are locally sourced, organic and/or fair trade. In addition to pizza, they also make some delicious sweet treats including truffles, a layered mason jar cheesecake and best of all, an ice cream sandwich!

This space has been our neighborhood pizza place in numerous iterations over the years, and to be honest I was awfully sad to see the last place go out of business. The spot seemed to be cursed until I tried Alfons. It is exactly what this little corner of the neighborhood, just up from the hustle/bustle of Viiskulma needed to bring the community together over delicious pizzas. Coming from San Francisco, I love a good thin-crust high-end pizza. Alfons delivered. Not only with delicious food and drink but also with really reasonable price points on food and drink in addition to service with a smile. A SMILE?! In Helsinki?! In the service industry?! I know. I thought the same thing. Our server was so sweet and friendly my head almost exploded and confetti and giltter almost blew out my ears. I was blown away! Super great for couples, parties, and families alike. There’s limited but varied space: a high bar-table in the window with stools for singletons or parties of two, a big communal table for a party or people who just don’t mind eating next to virtual strangers(read: people not from Helsinki… I’m kidding…), and regular old tables for groups of 2 and more. They DO have baby seats. Excellent lighting, homey feeling, and great overall experience. Food came quickly, wine was tasty and there were several options. We threw a small casual birthday dinner for a friend and everyone was extremely happy. Particularly my one year old, who enjoyed their great spelt-crust pizza and the attention he received from the diverse variety of patrons: grannies, a couple, a family, and some guys sitting with their laptops at the stools in the window. It’s good people serving good food in a great place. We’ll be back.

We were looking for a pizza place downtown Helsinki, we wanted something new and since many places close early we found this gem on Unilocal and gave it a try. Excellent pizzas in a chill and cozy environment — accompanied with wines or beers. The staff is friendly and the place is good to stay for a few beers after pizza.
