Classic breakfast, bad coffee. I ordered the breakfast plate with scrambled eggs, bacon, toast and fruit. The food was nice, and they offered gluten free toast, which was actually quite good. Gluten free bread is often dry, but this was not. The juice was fresh, although a little small. The coffee was absolutely terrible. I also ordered a small macaron with the coffee, which was undercooked. However, they were aware and offered me two for the price of one even before I saw it. The view from the window of the cathedral is nice and good for people spotting.

My friends and I only had a few hours to spend in Helsinki and wanted to have a nice meal(in the warmth!!) before exploring the city for a little. I am not the biggest fan of the cold, so Café Engel turned out to be my favorite part of my very short visit to Helsinki ;) I ordered the Beetroot Burger, and it was incredible! Beautiful, colorful, and delicious! Café Engel is an adorably classy café with great service and amazing food. It is pricey, but if you are looking for a nice café to grab lunch in Helsinki and willing to spend some euros, this is the place to go. Definitely recommend!

I was disappointed there wasn’t reindeer on the lunch special, but settled on the smoked salmon salad instead. It was quite tasty and surprisingly filling! Friendly, nice atmosphere — would recommend.

Very traditional tiny restaurant. We had the day special, which was reindeer with mashed potatoes. Very good, warming and wholesome food. The place was packed for lunch, so it must be popular with locals too. Only one small remark. If you’re looking for a hip, modern Scandinavian hangout you’re not in the right place. Didn’t seem to me as the kind of place that lets you hangout after dinner for long either.

My wife and I had lunch there. She had a decent cold green salad with a piece of(cold) cooked salmon on top. I had the«feta and spinach pie» with a green salad. The pie is in fact a tart made with filo dough. So be warned: far from a pie. But it was also OK. This was 2.5 stars but I gave them an extra notch for the great apple tart at the end. It was a crumbly buttery dough, filled with apple and sugar turned into a caramely compote. On the sweet side, but delicious. You can also give the«house tea» a try: it’s flavored with vanilla and red berries(as far as I could tell). Reminded me of «Christmas tea». They benefit from a great location, with a lovely view of the Helsinki Cathedral; and reasonable prices(in a city of outrageous food prices).
