Love the brunch at Crustum and the superfriendly owners. The German bread is very good, and we come especially for the Bretzel bread and sticks. But besides the bread the items in the brunch buffet are delicious, as well as the juices and little desserts, which are all included. Their salmon is simply the best in town. It’s cosy and has a laid back atmosphere, and allows children to be children. So, whether you’re there for lunch(great soups too) or weekend brunch, or just picking up a coffee and a pastry, this place is a hit!

I’d first read about Crustum in one of the in-flight magazines when I was on my way to Helsinki… needless to say that as an exile-German living in London, I needed to try out this German bakery in Helsinki and connect with my roots. And what a re-connection it was: walking in to Crustum was like a flash-back to my childhood. Seriously, this place is awesome in that it is so simple, down-to-earth and yet offers German quality through and through. On my visit I had the«Kleines Frühstück», which consisted of a bread roll with assorted cheese, meat cuts, tomato and lettuce… plus coffee and juice. Simple, but filling and good! Most of all I enjoyed hanging out with fellow-Germans…it was a weekend morning and it seemed like all the ex-pats of German origin were flocking to this place. It was great, but it also made me a little homesick :-(

Did you know that there is a German bakery in Punavuori? Crustum is located on Pursimiehenkatu and offers anything you will also find in a good bakery in Germany. No matter if it’s delicious Graubrot, crunchy Krustenbrot or wonderful sweet pastry. Crustum is also a café. So sit down, enjoy your pastry together with a reasonably priced coffee while listening to German radio and reading German magazines at the same time. Crustum is run by a German family who managed to make this place original.
