This is a nice, basic guest-house style accommodations in Helsinki. The location is pretty central. You’re only a block away from the Helsinki Cathedral and Senate Square. It’s about a 15 minute walk from the central train station. It’s a pretty centralized location. You get a private room, but the bathrooms are shared. The room I stayed in had a large bed, Queen size it looked, dresser, side table, tv(which didn’t work, but I don’t know Finnish or Swedish so that’s okay). Before the main sleeping area of the room is a small entrance room. There was a mini fridge there, which was a nice touch, as well as a sink and mirror. It was nice that I could brush my teeth and wash my hands without needing to wait for the bathroom. Speaking of the bathroom it was clean and well stocked. The toilet and sink is in one bathroom. There is a seperate shower in another bathroom. Maybe I lucked out with when I stayed, but I didn’t have to wait for the bathroom at any point. The shower bathroom also had a washer/dryer combo. You can use that for 5 Euros(includes soap). It takes a while to wash/dry a load of laundry, but was nice to do some laundry after traveling for a week. While my room had a mini fridge there is a communal kitchen if you want to use that. They have complimentary coffee and tea, and some cookies/biscuits. The kitchen was clean and had dishes and pots and pans, whatever you would need for cooking. There is free wifi in the hotel that worked pretty well. In the hall they have a variety of brochures and maps on Helsinki and local attractions. The staff were pretty friendly. They let me store my luggage for a few hours the day I was leaving. As far as safety goes I stayed here by myself and felt completely safe. The neighbourhood is quiet, but close to some major attractions in the city. There is a key to get into the building, then a key to get into the hotel on the 5th floor, and finally a key for the room. The only issues I had, and this is pretty minor, is that the rooms are a little out of date. The paint on the wall was a bit chipped, and the furniture looked a little rough around the edges. Everything was clean and basic, but a bit worn down. The bed wasn’t the most comfortable I’ve slept in, but for the two nights I was here it was alright. When checking in you also have to make sure to check in between 2pm and 11pm, because if you’re there earlier or later someone might not be there let you into the building. The hotel is on the 5th floor of a building. I walked all the way up the spiral staircase before realizing there was an elevator. For the price you pay, especially after researching other hotel prices for a private room in Helsinki, this hotel is a pretty good value. If I’m ever in Helsinki again I’d definitely stay here again.
