The revered Maison de Cognac Martell celebrated 300 years of cognac making in 2015. We reserved a tour then walked around Cognac and strolled along the Charente river for an hour before our tour began. The guide spoke excellent English and was extremely passionate and knowledgeable about Martell and the cognac process, which is very involved. The tour includes the dark cellars, barrel rooms, a display of premium Martell vintages, and a tasting of VSOP. An appreciation for cognac will be gained as you view art, artifacts, films, and bottles of rare cognacs. Not to be missed, even if you’ve visited other cognac houses. You’ll find they are all very different.

I was essentially lost on the highway in France and I saw a sign for Cognac so I went! The tourism office suggested I visit Martell for a tour. I jumped right in, several tours were starting in a few different languages. It was a massive property, very beautiful, I learned quite a bit and was glad I went.
