Amidst a downpour, my friend and I were forced to seek shelter in this little restaurant. I wasn’t expecting much because we put no thought into our choice but I was pleasantly surprised. There is no English menu here, and our waiter did not speak English. I personally enjoyed this because I was given the freedom to order in French(I speak French, but often, waiters/cashiers will notice that I am American and just speak to me in English, which is nice of them, but please let me speak the French I spent years learning). The menu is on a little chalkboard, which the waiter brought over to our view, and then gave to the next table. I had the salmon salad, which was very good. I hate avocados so I picked them off but otherwise the salmon and greens were fresh and I enjoyed the dressing. My friend got the onglets de beouf, which she liked. The portions are small but we were satiated. The coffee was not good but c’est la vie. The restaurant is adorable overall and a welcome refuge from the rain.

Had to give this five stars because the food was so amazing. The vegetable velouté might be the best soup I’ve ever had. The goat cheese risotto topped with sautéed veggies was every bit as rich as it sounds. I wasn’t intending to have a vegetarian meal but I’m so glad I did! I will seek this spot out on my next visit

Très bon! Ce restaurant est typiquement français. Escargots? Vin rouge? Camembert?

Cute little place on St. Germain. We grabbed a table outside and went at it. And that’s the thing folks, we were sitting outside on St. Germain, in Paris, on a beautiful June night — how could anything get any better? Apparently we were really on a risotto kick back in June of 2013 because I am seeing that pop up on most of my receipts. Actually, now that I think of it, I think my significant other has mentioned that I’ve been eating a lot of risotto lately, guess maybe I miss it. So we started off with a cheese plate, typical French cheese plate, I prefer Italian but I’m in Paris. Cheese was delicious. We also had 4 «Apéritif de Marque», not entirely sure what this was, but it may have been drink related. Google translate isn’t being super helpful. And then on to the risotto, which I didn’t think France was known for — always thought it to be an Italian dish — but we were pleased everywhere we had it, including this place. And of course a bottle of «Minuty», which I am assuming was a bottle of French wine. At the end of the day, you’re in Paris on one of the more popular streets, enjoying a bottle of wine and some delicious food — I didn’t experience any of the issues that the other reviewers did.

The prices and presentation were decent, but the flavors were a bit off in both dishes I had. The restaurant did not have an English menus, but the staff graciously translated off the board for me. * Caponata with a poached egg — 9EUR The egg was nicely poached, but the caponata was a bit too vinegary. * Pork with fennel — 17EUR This tasted good at first, but the dish was a bit too greasy and made me feel slightly queasy towards the end of the meal.

Our disappointing experience is not entirely the restaurant’s fault. We did, after all, arrive at the distinctly American hour of 7:15 pm, so it’s not totally surprising that we were close to the only people in the stiff and quiet dining room. And we’d recently had a truly fabulous meal at Le Gaigne, where we were well-taken-care-of, so many places would compare unfavorably All the same, we did not have a particularly good time here. The gentleman who welcomed us to the restaurant and took care of the initial service could only be described as «frosty,» even by French standards, which are not effusive. The zucchini-mint gazpacho, a special, was gross, and I forced myself to eat it only to avoid a confrontation with our waitress. My wife’s fish over black-olive-mashed potatoes was on the verge of being tasty– but the texture of the breaded fish was dry and the potatoes were thick and monotonous. A sauce would have really brought the whole thing together, but there was none. My roast chicken was really quite flavorful(as French chicken is wont to be). My «home made» frites were all right, but limp rather than crisp. The whole meal seemed tired. By the end, we certainly were, anyway.
