Le Petit Bleu

Great find near Sacre Coeur! Owner was gracious in helping us with the menu with his limited english and our non existent french. If unsure what to get, try the gambas!

You feel like couscous, tajine or grilled meat? Well you cannot go wrong here. The place is pretty small, close to montmartre or rue de clignancourt (Barbés) and so easily crowded: ask the owner how much you need to wait, as things go quick. It is a small room sitting around 25 people, painted blue and decorated the oriental (maghrebi) way. Nice to make someone discover something new. The owner is definitely not that nice, do not bother him. He will speak arabic/​kabyle with his employees in the kitchen (we laughed understanding he was complaining about us asking for more semoule eheh). Couscous are pretty full dishes, I tried the lamb one and I can say the meat was pretty soft and tasty. Tajines are served the algerian way, along with a dish of couscous (in morocco, they do with bread, reason why I cannot understand how people say this place is Moroccan?). I tried the duck tajine (yeah, the least typical) and was soft and tasty too, not much spicy though. The chicken, olives, lemons tajine had not lemons (which are my fav part) and was not enough tasty either. But I am not saying they were bad, not at all! Prices vary between 10 and 14 euros, which is better than in Saint Denis (an outskirts village). Wine varies in the same price ranfe, and I agree is not bad at all. Mint tea is at 2euros (less than at the mosque!).A good find then, for food, location and ingredients used (oh yea, in winter you’ll find outside in display all veggies used in your meal… a natural fridge more than an invitation to enter?)

Chez moi le couscous c’est du sérieux et je suis toujours à l’affut d’un bon plat qui me rappellera celui de ma grand mère.
J’ai eu l’occasion de prendre celui du Petit Bleu à la fois sur place et à emporter et il n’y a pas photo il est bien meilleur sur place (déjà parce qu’il y a des fèves dans la sauce). Lorsque je l’avais pris à emporter j’avais été surprise par la couleur orangée de la semoule et les légumes manquaient de cuisson. Par contre sur place (attention petit espace donc pour avoir une place assise on peut avoir à patienter un peu dehors) c’était vraiment bon, servi dans un bol et à manger à la cuillère !

Ordered the lamb couscous and the meat was so tender! The couscous is so fluffy and moist as well and the veggies are cooked perfectly. I had cravings for this dish the next night! Would definitely come back again.

I have always had a love for Moroccan food, and this place did not disappoint. I had the veal and it was great. Ask for the picquant sauce and it will add a flavor which you can use to your heart’s content. I will definitely come back here to try their other dishes!

We came from the 5^th arrondissement an arrived at 6 exactly. The owner was the only one there and informed us they’d open at 7 — no problem. The restaurant is located right at the foot of a staircase that goes up to the Sacre Coeur. It was a good little hike and the view if the city was magnificent (and free). We went into the church for a moment then walked around the nearby neighborhood and the Rue Lemarck. When we got back it was at 7 sharp and still no one else was there. So I awkwardly stepped in and muttered «Bön Jour» to the waiter who was on the phone and then bolted out. They were still prepping I think. No problem — we stopped by the mini market next door and grabbed a coke and beer and sat at the nearby park and watched a pregnant cat lay by us. 30 or so mins went by and we returned to the restaurant for the final to and to our pleasure some other patrons.
Now to the food…
I got the duck tajine and my girl got the chicken couscous. Both were big portions although the duck certain came with more meat (and a higher price — 12 € vs 10 € for the chicken). Food came fairly quick. Holy mudduh was it good! The tajine and its accompanying sauce were amazing. The duck was great, but honestly my favorite part was the vegetables. Im not a huge fan of cookes carrots or green beans but I devoured it, along with the potatoes and various other veggies (red pepper and possible dates?). My gf’s chicken was excellent as well. She got 3 drum sticks and similar veggie set. Another plus was a free bottle of water.

Presque aucuns Maghrébins n’oseraient se délecter d’un couscous au restaurant en se disant qu’il est meilleur que sa maman. Et pourtant, sur l’un des sommets de Paris, le Petit Bleu fait figure d’exception. Les légumes sont mijotés, la semoule est fine et de très bonne qualitée, la viande est exquise et né parlons pas de la sauce. L’endroit est minuscule, l’extérieur né paye pas de mine, mais il cache les mets les plus délicieux. Toutefois, hier soir, peut-​être était-​ce à cause du Ramadan, les serveurs, estomac vide, ont fait preuve d’une particulière agressivité pour rapidement nous expédier. Dommage, le plaisir culinaire a été vite gâché…

The first I went I had the couscous poulet because of the reviews on Unilocal.It was delicious. Lots of veggies, I couldn’t even finish my bowl.
Just came back from dinner two minutes ago and I am very upset. The couscous came with only two pieces of chicken and I’m still hungry. How can I walk away still hungry?
Maybe I’m being a bit harsh because I’m hangry but 3 stars for me.

I don’t usually even like couscous that much, but it was great. I had lamb, and it was tender and delicious. I recommend it! I also had the salad with feta. The server was very nice, and the price was reasonable.
It is a small location so you may have to sit very close to another party.

Voilà enfin un restaurant qui n’est pas touristique bien qu’il soit au pied du sacré coeur, les plats proposés sont délicieux, il y en a pour tout le monde, pour ceux qui n’aiment pas forcément le couscous il y a un magret de canard divin pour 12 euros, les deux chefs en cuisines dont des merveilles, la sauce du couscous est incontournable et contrairement à ce que j’ai pu lire, le service est très agréable et l’ambiance chaleureuse ! le service est rapide, la nourriture est à tomber, le patron est très drôle bref, c’est un incontournable !!!

Un couscous très bon. Le mec en salle est désagréable faut juste pas faire attention ou prenez à emporter parce qu’il en vaut la peine quand même ce couscous ;)

I live nearby and there are always people here for dinner. I decided to try it one time and it did not disappoint.
They have a couscous legumes here but I don’t think that it is vegetarian. It comes with a soup that includes chicken in it. It’s a good deal at 8 euros.
The chicken couscous is very good and filling. It’s a good deal at 9 euros.
Couscouses range from 8 to 12 euros. They also have tagines and meat platters.
I did not taste MSG. I don’t think they have any vegetarian main dishes.
Recommended if you eat meat. They have fish, chicken, and lamb. Not recommended if you’re a vegetarian.

Had seen some article about this «little gem» and headed up hill by Sacre Couer in Montmartre to find. Tiny place packed but waiters quickly moved people around to seat us with two German tourists, who made unexpected but delightful companions. Ordered Chicken and lamb, both were cooked to absolute perfection. Petit exceeded our high hopes in every respect. A wonderful meal and experience

Best food I had in Paris and I been to a lot of places! Fish tagine wow! Great couscous and feta salad. Very generous portions and quite cheap considering this is Paris

This was an amazing place! I discovered Le Petit Blue thanks to Tripadvisor reviews and it did not disappoint. Get here early or you will be better off ordering takeout as the tables take a long time to clear. I never liked couscous much before, but Le Petit Blue is the first place to make me want it over and over again.
Definitely get something with merguez in it, which is a mixed lamb sausage. Each plate is big enough for two meals, but be kind and order one plate each. We got a merguez couscous and a lamb tajine. For the lamb tajine, they use lamb shank meat, which tasted a lot like chicken (pardon us for having a poor palate), which led to a lot of finger pointing from the cook telling us we were mistaken and it was lamb. Sorry chef! Anyway, the couscous contains delicious stewed vegetables and comes with a really hot broth on the side that you ladle over the whole dish. I added a lot of the broth to flavor the veggies, but I think overall the dish was already very flavorful.
This is easily a very affordable meal and it’s super close to Le Sacre Coeur, so you can come by after you watch the sun set.
Cash only, and don’t expect super friendly service if you’re used to American service. The waiter is just kind of gruff but all in all he does care about providing great food.

the plates came not 100% clean. the waiter was obnoxious and arrogant. the food wasnt expensive and was pretty good, but the atmosphere was terrible. even the ceremic cup was chipped, so someone couldve gotten injured

Un endroit à retenir pour la cuisine
Une adresse à retenir à deux pas du Sacré-​Cœur. Des couscous de qualité à bons prix. Un regret: le service n’est pas toujours à la hauteur. La personne présente est franchement antipathique et donne cette exaspérante impression que le client dérange. Attention, ce n’est heureusement pas toujours le même personnel selon les heures, heureusement.

This is the only place to grab couscous when in Paris.
This place is tiny. In fact it is so small I can guarantee you will be waiting to get a table, but it is really worth the wait.
I think they only open for dinner, but they stay open pretty late. The food is really inexpensive and extremely tasty. My girlfriend doesn’t even like couscous, but she loved all the food here. You better come hungry, because the portions are quite large too!
The staff is friendly and will accommodate even those who don’t speak a word of French.

On m’avait conseiller ce petit restaurant qui né paye pas de mine de l’exterieur mais quand on deguste leur couscous royal c’est renversant ! Qualité /​prix excellente: couscous royal à 12euros avec une assiette plus que copieuse ! J’y suis allé avec ma cherie, l’ambiance n’est pas des plus romantiques mais c’est plus coté convivial donc à y aller entre amis. Petit bemol pour le service mais on s’y fait.

I don’t even like couscous. But this was really good couscous.
Stopped in about 1pm on a Saturday and we were seated in an open airy space in the shade. It was over 100°F outside, but the ceiling fans made it feel no more than a comfortable 80°F.
We had the chicken couscous and the lamb sausage couscous, and both were just really hearty and filling and delicious. Both are served over a bed of stewed vegetables.
The chicken is dark meat, cooked on the bone and really tender and tasty.
The merguez (lamb sausage) was cooked separately at my request and lambey and just chewey enough to have a good mouth feel.
The veggies are also really good — there are a lot and they’re varied and my favorite of them was the fresh artichoke heart.
All the couscouses are served with a jug of broth (for additional flavor to your couscous, we hardly used it because it was already super tasty) and a moroccan pickled lemon spicy chutney thing that really enhances the food. Man, I’m like addicted to it now.
Service was slow only because there was only one guy serving and cooking — but he was really sweet and the food was delicious.

My favorite place to get couscous in Paris. I first came here in 2008 and since I have used it as my standard starting point for an evening whenever someone comes to visit me in Paris. Afterwards you can walk up the stairs just outside the restaurant and see the Sacré Cœur and a beautiful view of Paris. Plus the food is awesome!
My standard orders are the couscous with two meats: brochette d’agneau (lamb skewers) and merguez (spicy sausage). Otherwise I order the assiette grillades (it’s called something like that) which is the same meats but with salad and fried potatoes. The tajines are also quite good! Make sure you ask for the harissa if you like some spice! The place is a little rough around the edges but that is what makes it amazing.

Bön couscous !
Bien qu’il soit dans un endroit très touristique (au pied de la butte de Montmartre) ce restaurant est d’un bon rapport qualité/​prix. La viande du couscous est un délice. Très tendre et bien cuite. Seul bémol, le service n’est pas très agréable, mais on prend sur sois et comprend le serveur qui doit gérer beaucoup de client dans un très petit espace. Je conseille de réserver, le restaurant né doit pas disposer de plus de 20 places.

Voici le genre d’endroit que l’on aime. :-(Lorsque vous y arrivez, vous êtes reçus par un sympathique jeune homme qui vous annonce qu’il n’a retenu que 4 places pour 5 personnes alors que la réservation était bien pour 5. Cool quoi. Le restaurant étant plein, rien à faire évidement et le serveur, qui né se dégonfle pas vous répète que c’est 4 et non 5 qui était convenu. Un endroit à recommander chaudement ! (Notez une pointe d’ironie)

The best couscous I have ever had.
Seriously, I’ve had couscous in Morocco that was not as good. It’s super authentic home cooking. The portions are humungous, you get free refills of vegetable soup and harissa to put in your dish. Every kind of meat is incredible. I usually get either the lamb brochettes or the merguez, or both, because the great thing is that you can mix and match as you please.
The place is like eating in a family kitchen somewhere in Tunisia, it’s family owned, it’s simple, homey and full of flavor, which I love.
No one knows about this gem!!! It’s filled with locals and I only know about it because I lived next door for 5 years. People actually want to keep this place a secret, because it is so amazingly good and cheap!

Mike G described it perfectly. Great Moroccon food, cheap prices, nice people. Very tight sitting quarters. Go here for really good food at small prices, not for the atmosphere or drink selection. Good portions too. The Couscous poulet (chicken) was superb!

Petit bouiboui à côté du sacré coeur qui né paie pas de mine mais un rapport qualité prix quasi imbattable… le couscous Royal est vraiment hyper copieux et très bon: si vous arrivez à le finir, chapeau bas !! la semoule est bonne, la viande plus qu’abondante est vraiment pas mal du tout, quant au bouillon aux légumes ils sont très bien aussi… que demandez de plus… Quant à l’accueil il est assez bizarre… le Monsieur au service n’est pas des plus aimable mais reste sympathique quand même…

Tout petit restaurant à la déco sobre et chaleureuse. Ici l’on trouve grillades, couscous et tajines à petit prix et grande qualité. Couscous de généreuse proportion de 8 à 11EUR. Une excellente adresse du quartier.

doing the Montmartre tourist thing? eat here… cool spot, really off the beaten path, where locals go for a couscous fix. a dive you’re not likely to hear about if a friend didn’t live down the street (merci F!). only serves dinner, always busy and cheap. try the grilled chicken or lamb with tajine de légumes and endless refills of flavor-​loaded soup. come hungry! très bon couscous à petit prix.

Une cantine marocaine sans chi-​chi à deux pas du Sacré Coeur… qui l’eut cru !
Là-​bas, c’est comme à la maison. Le couscous servi à l’assiette coûte 9 € et à ce prix là, on est conquis et repu. La carte est composée des principaux mets marocains (tagines, couscous.) déclinés selon les viandes habituelles.
Il n’y a pas beaucoup de tables, une vingtaine de places. Quelques unes donnent sur l’extérieur et permettent de fumer sa petite clope pour digérer avec un thé.
C’est vraiment un petit resto tranquille pour profiter d’une soirée sans se ruiner.
Le gérant est très détendu et convivial. Pour l’anecdote, un jour où mon portable m’avait lâché, où j’avais oublié le code de l’immeuble de l’ami dont j’avais oublié le numéro de téléphone, cet homme a quasiment remué ciel et terre pour me trouver un téléphone acceptant ma carte sim.
Bref un amour de marocain tant humainement que gustativement !

On me l’avait vendu comme un couscous roots et sympa. Alors oui c’est bon mais le service était tellement minable, grande gueule et se donnant des airs (le soir où j’y ai été), du faussement popu, tout ce que je n’aime pas.
Mais comme je n’aime pas déverser ma bile, je n’y reviens pas et puis c’est tout. En plus à la Goutte d’Or, il y a tellement d’autres plans réellement chaleureux que je né vois pour ma part aucun intérêt à venir ici. Cela étant, c’est plein donc ça plaît. Il en faut pour tous les goûts et c’est tant mieux!

Réservé aux initiés, Le Petit Bleu, ouvert uniquement le soir, né désemplit jamais. Ici, les habitants de quartier né font pas la queue pour le cadre. Tables et chaises en plastique, Le Petit Bleu ressemble à un boui-​boui. Pourtant, les audacieux qui s’y aventurent deviendront des adeptes de ce restaurant sans prétention. Grillades, couscous et tagines généreux excitent le palais de leurs saveurs orientales. La démarche à suivre? Présentez-​vous au patron (ou passez lui un coup de fil) et il vous réserve l’une des six tables disponibles. En attendant, prenez un verre au Soleil de la butte (juste en face) et dès qu’une place se libère, on vous appelera d’un signe de la main. Le défi? Terminer sa copieuse assiette de couscous royal ou de tagine de Saint-​Jacques !

Garniras garniras-​pas?
Le petit bleu c’était ma cantine… Service très sympa (quoi qu’un peu long… ils n’étaient que 2), couscous et tajines délicieux et hyper copieux (côté viande) Pour ¹⁰⁄₁₂ euros maxi… Mais j’y suis retournée récemment et j’ai été un peu déçue… les plats étaient moins garnis en viande et en légumes ! Apparemment, il y avait une nouvelle personne en cuisine ! Peut-​être suis-​je mal tombée? En tous cas j’y retournerai sûrement ! Quand on aime, on donne une deuxième chance !

Il paie pas de mine mais c’est une valeur sûre, l’une des meilleures adresses de Paris. On y mange très bien, et pour pas cher du tout. L’assiette de grillade est excellente, la viande est très tendre et les gros appetits né seront pas décus. Une petite balade à montmartre s’impose après le repas. J’ai juste regretté qu’on nous mette dehors juste quand on a fini de manger. Mais bon ! quand il y a la queue dehors…

J’ai découvert ce petit resto adorable il y a peu, c’est devenu l’un de mes incontournables. Excellent couscous, ambiance très drôle et chaleureuse, toute petite salle où on mange au coude à coude, ce qui favorise la convivialité ! C’est tellement copieux que les petits appétits peuvent se contenter d’un pour deux !

Ce tout petit restaurant né paye pas de mine, mais né vous fiez pas aux apparences… On y mange très bien, de bons couscous et tagines, bien servis, le tout pour 8 euros ! D’ailleurs, je vous conseille d’arriver tôt, parce qu’à 21h, c’est déjà complet ! Un endroit charmant à découvrir absolument !
