Unbedingt probieren!

This place is truly amazing! My boyfriend and I came here on a rainy evening in the middle of August and were told that it would be about an hour wait. Based on previous reviews, we felt that it would be worth the wait, and it sure was! The food was downright AMAZING. My boyfriend and I still dream about this restaurant and the food we had that day. We ordered the following and everything was made to perfection with much attention to detial. — Egg en cocotte with duck foie gras — Duck breast with the sauce of the day — Chef’s sea scallops There is one woman who serves the entire restaurant. She was extremely positive the entire time and friendly to all of the customers. I must give her props for her positive attitude even with so many tables and customers to serve. She not only took orders for food, she was also working at the bar to pour drinks, while serving people their dishes, cleaning up their plates and taking the check — talk about a woman who does everything! We gave her a great tip for her excellent service and because she really deserved it for everything she had to do to get the restaurant running. When we return to Paris, we will DEFINITELY be returning here, and hopefully there will be another person helping out!

Just returned from Paris. This was a fantastic intimate bistro near Sacre Coeur that lives up to the other Unilocal reviews. Our host/waiter Jeremy(I believe) was very welcoming and engaging. As others have mentioned, because of its size, you can’t help but chat with fellow travelers, which adds to the whole experiences. We met a terrific British couple that we got to know over a few after dinner cognacs. As others have mentioned, the egg fois gras appetizer and duck breasts were outstanding. The cumin honey sauce on the duck was a perfect blend of sweet and spice. The entrée portions were considerable and the prices reasonable. Definitely recommended. You may need to wait outside for tables to clear, so you may be in for a chilly wait if you’re traveling now.

Fascinating how the cute little cozy restaurants exist all around the city, and no doubt, these restauranteurs are making a killing with such little rent relative to the # of turns per nite, I’d say 5 – 6 on a conservative perspective, but I digress. Graced that tonite was a holiday, we just called from the hotel room to announce we were coming in an hour, lol, so luckily they had room for 2. But honestly, any group larger than this, esp with a few hockey-sized players in the 200 lb range, would find the seating arrangements tight, and the Unilocalers here weren’t kidding. Ordered the fois gras(great), eggplant/sundried tomato salad(good), breaded veal & mashed potatoes(generous portion, also good), and chocolate cake, which was super rich & more like a truffle, just a warning if you were expecting a moist cake — far from it. Dipped in a strawberry sauce & mango ice cream, nice touch. Next time, I’d ordered the crème brûlée next time. apparently in a popular, ancient part of town, loved the cobblestones & tight sidewalks. For those Vancouverites, this area a cross between yaletown & gastown. easy repeat. No amex.

If I could, I would eat here every night! Based on reviews, I came right around 8pm for 2 people, but had no issue getting a table on a Sunday night. Place is super intimate and bleeds Paris. I ordered Duck with sauce du jour(blackberry) with potatoes, green beans, and salad. I think this was my favorite meal in Paris. The perfect combination of savory and sweet. I’m currently drooling just thinking about it. I ordered the grandma’s chocolate cake and OHMY. Literally to die for, yes literally, I think I would die for another slice. Slightly crispy on the outer layer yet the perfect medium between gooey and moist on the inside. Comes with a side of mango sorbet and cherry drizzle to keep the chocolate from taking over(not that anyone complains about that). Prices are super reasonable. I paid like 25 euros for an entrée, dessert, and wine. Come here, now. You wont regret it!!!

Nice intimate place to eat here in Paris… but beware. The restaurant is tiny and can maybe seat about 25 people max with no separation space between your neighbours. We got to know the American couple from California sitting next to us. They were on their way to Belgium and headed to Oktoberfest later on in the month. I now know much more about them than I ever will anyone else at another restaurant. The point is, you are literally sitting beside each other. My wife and I lined up for about 45 minutes and we were able to get a seat without a reservation. For one waitress running around, the service was surprisingly decent. For my main course I had duck breast with the special sauce of the day, which was blackberry sauce. The sauce was surprisingly delicious and gave the meat a sweet taste. If anyone is intrigued by the smoked duck dish that everyone keeps talking about, it basically looks and tastes like smoked duck with scalloped potatoes. I didn’t really see any locals here but I don’t blame them. The place is filled with tourists and the dining area, as previously mentioned, is tiny, so I’d avoid it too if I lived there. I’d also recommend making a reservation if possible. If you don’t have one show up early, at least 30 – 45 minutes early.

This was one of my top 2 meals in Paris. The front of the restaurant is run by one almighty server who takes care of the whole place. The restaurant sat about 20 people. It was tiny and adorable. Our server was rushing around smiling and laughing with all of her tables. She was a delight. I ordered the duck with potatoes. It was truly melt in your mouth… AMAZING. I had a fruit crumble for dessert with a baileys and coffee and left feeling very satisfied. Our server recommended the fois gras and my biggest regret is not ordering it! This will be a necessary stop on my next trip to Paris!

The food here is very hearty and comforting, which is perfect for a chilly Parisian evening. I came here after visiting Sacré-Coeur with a friend and I’m glad that we decided on this place for her last meal in Paris. Like everyone else has been saying, you have to try the egg-foie-gras thing. It is so rich and hearty and just plain yum. Dipping some bread into that beauty was just so good. I could have eaten that alone. Our main courses were very duck based! We had the cheese and potato gratin with duck confit and the duck breast. They were both good, but I kind of wish we had chosen another dish that wasn’t duck. It was kind of duck overload and the dishes were very similar. For dessert we had the crème brûlée which was good but I think I’ve had too many crème brûlée as at this point so I’m kinda just over them now(sad, I know). When we were there there were a lot of friendly expats which made for a fun and cozy dining experience. I recommend this place if you are in the area visiting Montmartre, but I wouldn’t make a trek out here when there are tons of other restaurants in Paris.

This restaurant has everything you dream of in a travel dining experience: Amazing food, impeccable service, and an intimate, «local» atmosphere. Tipped off by a friend who lives in Paris part-time, we made our reservations a couple of weeks in advance, and had no trouble getting in. It ended up being one of my favorite dining experiences of a lifetime. This is NOT a super-high-end, pretentious, palais gastronomique kind of restaurant. It is warm, inviting, low-key, and tiny. It is good food and very reasonable prices. It is kind, happy service, with a smile, and very accommodating to non-French speakers. It feels almost like you are eating at a friend’s house, who has decided to open her house to strangers and feed them because she has a passion for good food. Five days later, I can’t actually remember what I ordered… I blame the wine, and the«Old Prune» dessert liquor, of which I had two glasses. I do remember floating out of the restaurant in a happy daze, feeling a bit spoiled and luxurious.

I had Le Potager bookmarked in anticipation of our visit to Paris but didn’t think I would get the chance to dine there as I had previously read about their notorious wait times. It was serendipity that we came across Le Potager as we were walking along Rue des Trois Frères after visiting Sacre Coeur. It was just after 7 but my dear supportive husband waited with me for nearly 45 minutes in front of the restaurant until it opened in hopes of grabbing a table without a reservation. Sure enough, we weren’t the only ones; two other couples arrived shortly after us to line up as well! The restaurant opened right at 8pm and we were able to get seated right away. Yay! Le Potager is small and intimate, so Parisian. Seating is limited to less than 30 chairs. The interior was so quaint, I found it hilarious that the interior lighting used Ikea colanders! You will get to know your dining neighbors. We chatted with the people beside us, a nice couple from California. I saw a table of 4 with 2 separate couples chatting with each other. I loved the intimacy of this restaurant. There was one waitress working and she spoke very good English. There were mostly tourists dining, but locals as well, which is always a good sign. She would attend to the tables mostly in the order in which they were seated. The food actually arrived quite promptly. The oeufs en cocotte foie gras was amazing. Soooo rich, so eggy. They provided extra bread which was a plus for mopping up all the runny yolk. Mmmmm. I ordered the potato and cheese gratin with smoked duck, while my husband ordered the duck breast with roasted potatos and veggies on the side and a blackberry glaze sauce. By the time I had finished my egg and foie gras appetizer, I was starting to feel full, but the potato and cheese gratin just about pushed me over the edge. It was very rich, very cheesy and decadent. It was rather heavy and oily, but tasty nonetheless. The wife of the couple beside us had two bites and her husband had to finish the rest. My husband enjoyed his duck breast and the blackberry sauce. I sampled his plate and found it interesting that his duck actually tasted similar to beef in terms of flavor and texture. Overall it was a very pleasant meal, would recommend!

I decided to try this place out while traveling in France with hubby. I recommend going during the off-peak hours, or you will wait a long time to get in if you don’t have a reservation. The place is very small/cozy-almost tiny, seating a maximum of 20 – 25 people. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that staff is a lot friendlier than at most establishments in France. The waitress was happy to suggest menu items that were highly recommended, and the most popular. They will happily provide you with an English menu at your request, and are much more reasonably priced, when compared to other, similar local establishments. Items ordered: Chocolate cake-super decadent, gooey, rich, moist, with different layers of chocolate flavors throughout. Crème brulee-thick, rich, smooth, creamy, with a perfectly scorched sugar topping. I ordered the duck dish, as so many other Unilocal reviewers recommended it, and it was heavenly. I would return to Paris for this alone!

Ravie.

Love, love, love this tiny little restaurant! It’s almost impossible to get a table if you haven’t booked in advance but we were lucky and only had to wait and hour which we spent on a stroll in the tiny little streets. Got back a bit early and had to wait out in front of the restaurant and the waitress supplied us with tasty wine during our waitingtime. The restaurant is so tiny that they had to move the table out for us to get in and sit and it makes this restaurant so cosy and intimate. Started with a platter of mixed meat to share and then I had the duck confit and boy it was delicious! The waitress was really helpful when selecting the right wine for our main courses. For dessert I ordered grandma’s chocolate cake and it was tasty, mushy and absolutely yummi! Excellent service and reasonable prices too. For two persons we paid 61 € and that includes one starter, two main courses, one dessert, four glasses of wine and two bottles of sparkling water. I really recommend this place — but be there early(opens at 8) og book in advance.

Absolutely delicious food. The food had a very«homey» feel that I absolutely love. The service was also amazing! The waitress was attentive and gave us many recommendations! It was pretty busy that night, but she made sure that we were well taken care of. It is also a great restaurant to go to if you don’t speak French. I found it an absolute relief that the waitress spoke English and provided an English menu. I will definitely come back when I visit Paris again.

So French and so good. Food amazing and all home made! Service very good and accommodating also. I had the tart of the day which was nice and light and for main the duck gratin. Delish! The waitress/owner was very busy but took time to accommodate me and my partner since it is a small restaurant which only sits 26 people and with me and my partner of a larger stature, made sure we were sat in the best most comfortable place! Will definitely visit again when next in Paris! Thanks Unilocal for the recommendation! t

Food is a three but ambiance and service plus Paris make it a 4. Didn’t really have high hopes after a long day in Paris. Found this place in Montmartre after a walking tour and had a good experience. Had to share a table with ppl who ended up being from the U.S. So we struck up a conversation. Food was good. Started with a goat cheese and honey tart. Tasted like a quiche but still good. Then had the crusted veal. Veal was a bit dry and tough. Crust was good though. Mash potatoes rush and buttery. Finished with the berry crumble which had ice cream on top. Probably the best thing I had there. Server was very nice and helped pick me a great wine.

I really loved Le Potager. We arrived at our flat at 7pm on a Saturday, famished and in need of some hearty French cuisine. Fortunately Unilocal directed us to Le Potager du pere Thierry which was conveniently located down the street from us. We suspected that it would be busy on a Saturday, so we arrived a few minutes before opening in hopes of snagging an unreserved table. We were luckily successful! The restaurant is very small, and I believe only one other unreserved table of 2 was accommodated. The hostess/waitress was very friendly as well which was a bit of a surprise, although certainly appreciated. I ordered the duck breast with fig sauce, which came with a salad and roasted potatoes. The duck was perfectly cooked — it was very juicy and tender. The sauce was sweet but not too overpowering. The potatoes were also surprisingly good as well, which is impressive since I’m usually not a fan of roasted potatoes. My boyfriend ordered the giant shrimp, which came with rice and salad. The shrimp was cooked perfectly — they were very tender and practically melted in your mouth. The shrimp was covered in crab sauce, a crustacean which I personally do not enjoy, but I could appreciate that crab-lovers would appreciate this sauce. We also ordered the house rose and the egg foie gras appetizer — both very outstanding. Overall, this was my favorite meal from my weekend in Paris. I would highly recommend and certainly return!

Tolles kleines und gemütliches Restaurant. Wir haben 26 Sitzplätze gezählt. Es scheint 2 Schichten zu geben: 20h und 22h/22.30h. Man muss unbedingt vorher reservieren. Hier kommen wir beim nächsten Paris-Besuch wieder her!

Our meal at Le Potager was one of the best meals during our honeymoon in Paris. It’s right up there with Frenchie, but Frenchie is a different kind of animal. Le Potager felt like how French-Rustic-Country home cooking would be. I do not know how we found this place, as it was apparent that it was a «locals» only restaurant. In any event, MAKERESERVATIONS! We used our credit card’s concierge service to make the reservation for us — this helps given time difference and language barrier. We were almost 20 minutes late to our reservation and the restaurant held our reservation anyways, despite a group of people waiting to see if we would show up or not. I was really touched. We had a bad start to our trip upon arriving to Paris from London. We definitely needed this meal to sort of «reset» the trip. The prices are super reasonable given Europe/Paris standards, at 15 euros for an entrée, where can you beat that? We shared the oeufs en cocotte foie gras — which was phenomenal. We also ordered the curry lamb shank and the scalloped potatoes with duck. Both were really good — full of flavor and fresh. I don’t even know how to properly describe the meal.

This place is tiny. Seriously, blink and you may miss it… but you’d be seriously missing out if you did! There are a lot of really touristy places in Montmarte — in fact, this place is across the road from a fondue restaurant — but this one feels like it is catered for locals and true lovers of French food. And(happy plus) there’s an English menu too! We went to dinner quite late that evening, so a reservation wasn’t required for us. But if you want to eat at a normal dinner time, I would definitely call ahead because there were not too many seats available. There was such a rustic and comforting feel to this tiny, cosy restaurant. And there was some fantastic, jazzy music playing in the background, too. My visit to Paris was a few months ago now, and I still savour the taste of the duck confit! My friend had the foie gras tartine, and it was equally delicious. The portions were enormous, but I’ve noticed that French diners often seem to order one dish to share between two people… And I think we’d have been full even if we’d done that. We also ordered a delectable ‘craft sorbet’ in chocolate and mint. The flavours available change every day. Without a doubt, this was the best food I’d eaten in Paris. Seriously, if I were to visit Paris for one day, this is where I’d be eating! Make sure you stop by!

Pourquoi 3 étoiles seulement, me demanderez-vous?
