First breakfast place in Paris that I visited. I was tired, jetlagged, and sick from running a half marathon in Dublin, Ireland a few days before. I wanted FOOD! Good thing they have a few breakfast options. I ordered the option that costs 18 Euro. I think it had two beverages, a pastry, and a main breakfast dish. I ordered orange juice and hot chocolate, a chocolate croissant, and I think some sort of egg or sandwich with a salad and sausage. It was a lot of food, but worth it! The service was great. Our waiter spoke good English and was nice to us. Would I return? Heck yes! Note: I was hyper-sensitive to cigarette smoke, especially since I was sick, but beware because it is everywhere. It gets inside if the café has open windows/walls.

I chose this place thought it would be nice because of its French menu. It was the only one of the three restaurants on this circus serving snails. Unfortunately I had worst experience in my life, I had two stinky snail. With that doubt, my friend also had one and it was stinky too. It is out of expectation but I tried to tell the waiter. He certainly denied and said cook another three for us, but come on I only want the chef to know they are not serving fresh snails and there must be problem in my dish. With a disappointing heart I had my entrecôte. It is so tough to cut and I didn’t have a steak knife. My friend ordered a deep friend crispy chicken filet. Too thick! I should have not expected a nice meal at busy traffic crossing. It is never wrong that this type of restaurant is only suitable for a drink, definitely not food. I should have learnt.

Near to Victor Hugo Metro. The staff are quite warm and welcoming, the décor and general atmosphere is pleasant. But coffees are quite expensive. But we are in the 16th district,… So we should not be surprised.

Went there for drinks often. Beautiful view of the fountain and perfect for people watching. Perfect for lunch or drinks before dinner. Not all the staff speak English but that is part of the charm. It also doesn’t hurt that many of the waiters look like they came out of a GQ magazine!

I’m sure it would have been better of I’d ordered something else bit I got the risotto with Portuguese chorizo. The rice was way under cooked and the sauce was like bad cheeze whiz and the chorizo tasted like a chopped up slim jim.

Ok, had beverages. Not impressed. Mojito: worst ever, though I did like the glow stick stirrer. It was fun watching the waiters hit on the girls at the table next to us– classy! Had to ask repeatedly for check. Like I said, meh…

This place was chosen by a local friend who was driving as a quick spot to get a coffee where he could wait on the circle in the car. Unfortunately, my experience typifies the stereotypical critique of French cafés. We got our espresso with complimentary pretzels, popcorn & olives. And ordered a bottle of sparkling water. When it was served, the waiter brought out a glass with ice, which we didn’t want. So he dumped the ice on his tray and ignored us the rest of our time. Since there were only 10 – 15 tables, his shunning of us was noticeable, ignoring my attempts to pay. Then, when I I finally got his attention, he overcharged me by $ 5 euro. When I brought it to his attention, he acted embarrassed and handed me a bill from his wallet. I think its a shame that the server ruined the experience. However, I did notice the sous chef chopping fresh potatoes when I passed the kitchen proving that even in a small, common café, they use fresh produce.

Worst food we’ve ever had– mcdonalds is better quality. We had the seafood linguine and a salmon dish based on the waiters recommendation: inedible. We took 2 bites, paid the 68 euro tab and left. The wine is just as bad as the food, it was cheap boxed wine which we paid 12 euro a glass for; I drank better quality wine in college. I wouldn’t eat here again if I was starving.

Strange experience. It’s basically ‘ok’ inside. Nothing special. The service was great at the beginning. Food was good to very good. Price is too high for what you get here The weird part was the waiter and the head waiter, basically ignored us after we were served. They were right behind us in a closet watching TV! Come on! Not even a match on tv that night!

This is a wonderful stop, can’t recall what all we enjoyed, but it was near our hotel and just a fun experience. Service was good, the food was good, and just had a great time. This is not as touristy as other places near the Champs de Elysees and really enjoyed our visit.

When folks come to visit Paris, the expectation is to sit outside, leisurely sip a glass of Sancerre or espresso and watch the passersby. Café Le Victor Hugo is a great place to make that dream come true! The prices are high(20 euro or more for a salad) but the portions are generous and the food is delicious! On the first day of my mom’s visit, she ordered and thoroughly enjoyed the Quiche Lorraine. She fell in love with Paris right then and there! After two weeks of sightseeing and tasting the local fare, nothing quite measured up to Café Le Victor Hugo.

Fantastic salads. my hubby loved his Italian salad. The best salad he’s ever had. Melon was perfectly ripe, like nothing we’ve ever had before. I also liked my caesar salad, but beware, they don’t mention in the description that it comes with sardines on top. Our waiter was AWESOME! Fun guy, great service, accommodated just enough English to get by. it was great. Totally recommend it.

Casual café with decent food and a cozy ambiance. We tried the burger and a fish dish and both were great. We had no problems with service. Our waiter was friendly and the food came out in a timely manner. Wine and food are reasonably priced as well.

My friends and I went to this place after finding it on Unilocal, nearby our apt in Paris. The food was absolutely amazing, the service as well. The waiter was very helpful with ordering etc, as we do not speak French nor had we ever had escargot. Great place, would go there again. You’ll spend some money, but well worth it.

Definitely a cut above the average café in Paris. Sat inside due to the rain and cold weather — would have sat outside all things being equal. Had the Pave D’Agneau(lamb) with mashed potatoes from the daily specials. The potatoes were particularly good — creamy and buttery. Cheese for dessert — the highlight of the meal. I’d come back here just for the cheese! Busy but not crowded and good service.

Service — so so. Seemed to take FOREVER after requesting our check to get it brought out. Food was nice. The appetizer we ordered(some kind of hot goat cheese salad thing) was really nice. I had cod over some beautiful veggies made to seem like noodles. Bottles of wine were very reasonable prices.

Great place to relax, unwind, people watch… granted, there are numerous places like this in Paris but this one sticks out in my mind a tad more than the others.

When I arrived in Paris, my friend forgot they had a dinner party for work so they could not pick me up from the train station. They had me get a cab and wait for them at Café Victor Hugo. So me and an American who speak little French is whisked away to Café Victor and I arrive with a big ass duffle bag that says USA on one side and MIAMI on the other. I take a seat on side and my bag is so big it takes up another chair. Needless to say I did not blend in with the upscale 16th district Parisians there. No matter — My waiter Yves spoke to me in French and I tried to order in a French like language .lol even though the had English on the menu for all items. Hey I am in France — try and speak French. I had croque mamdam like Nicholas and beer american(Bud) followed by a few glasses of wine several by my new Parisian friends who obviously were regulars there and wanted to hear about my travels. Bottom line — this place makes you feel like you are in a post card from Paris. The staff is friendly and the crowd great too. It my Parisian Cheers — I stopped there 3 times in 3 days. Try it — its only a 5 minute walk from the Arch de Triumph.

ooooohhhh Le Victor Hugo! I like this place. I have been here twice as it seems like the least posh restaurant on place victor hugo. After a long day I was walking by and just had to stop by. Le Victor Hugo, is right on the place, its a small place and I have only seated outside. The inside looks like a cool cozy little bar, but might be a little to tight for me. Outside is great, they have a few different spots you can sit at, so there is a lot of room. I went with a croque madam(8.5 €) + frites(5 €) + Belgium beer(8 €). Now, the only kicker was that I thought the Croque Madame came with fries, instead it was a 5 € side. The croque and frites were really good, I thought they were perfect. (for those that don’t know — croque madame is a ham & cheese sandwich + a fried egg on top) A little pricy for what you get, but… its Paris right? Priceless. I will likely be back here at some point, probably when I crave another croque madame.
