Yummy! Big portions. The wait was well worth it for a big pot of steaming mussels!

The mussels were absolutely delicious! If you are looking for a place to have mussels in Paris, this is the place to go. Prices were very standard, ranged from € 18-€ 22.

Leon used to be my go to place when I lived in Paris. It served great meals at a reasonable price, and although the service was touch and go, I didn’t mind, as I knew that it was one of the best kept secrets in town. Then, Lonely Planet blabbed about it in their guidebook, and the quality went downhill at warp speed, and I couldn’t have been more disappointed! I should have known as soon as we sat down, and all I saw were tourists around me, and the waiter spoke English, which is usually a dead giveaway that the restaurant would be highly mediocre! The quality of the food wasn’t what it used to be. The mussels were miniscule, the cheese on gratinee was hard, and even the fries were cold — I mean, how can you mess up french fries?!? It was as if we’d just stepped into the Euro Disney of restaurants! All in all, it was such a disappointing experience, and I will not be returning to Leon again!

We had heard a lot about this place and was dying to try. Luckily we were very close to it so walked there in ten minutes. It was crowded but we found a table quickly. And then we waited and waited and waited. It took a while for our food to come but it was delicious! A little price but what wasn’t in Paris? We had 4 orders of mussels and we were full! The wait was worth it. Avoid meal time cuz this place was packed.

I believe this meal would be best enjoyed in the evening I ordered the Moules marinieres and this meal was quite satiating.

Decent place to get some mussels and seafood in Paris. Young male host was rather curt and rude when seating us, wouldn’t even consider letting us sit in a little quieter table rather than right next to a table of a dozen men who had been celebrating for some time. There were plenty of empty tables that never filled up the entire time we were there and we had to endure the noise next to us. Waiter was too absorbed with this large table to really spend any time with us. Took forever to take our order, get some water, etc. Meals were pretty tasty, we had mussels and salmon which were moist, tender and tasty. Fix the service part and this would be a great spot!

Definitivement recommende.

I came to France on vacation a few years ago, and this is the first place my family at which my family went to eat. We avidly eat seafood at home, so mussels wouldn’t be much of a change. I still remember eating their mussels in tomato sauce(broth?), and they tasted really nice. Also, their Belgian waffles are absolutely DELICIOUS. I think we went to two different chains during our vacation, but since I can still remember the food from back then, I’d say it’s worth a go.

This is exactly the kind of place that’s needed back on the east coast – a place that serves a decent helping of multiple styles of mussels at a decent price. We arrived here on a weekday afternoon while browsing stores at the Champs, and there was plenty of seating inside. There’s a lot of mussel items for 26 euros+, but I found a small section that had smaller portions; I ordered the small mussels for 13 euros, which came with one helping of fries rather than unlimited. It was still a lot of food that could have been split between 2 people, so in terms of value – great. Only 1 dead mussel in the entire pail. The fries weren’t too hot and fresh, some were soggy. It’s a standard place to stop by, equivalent to Bennigan’s back at home or a seafood chain. The service is also standard, but a bit slow in getting food out for what it is.

Oh Leon de Bruxelles, how I adore you! Okay so its a chain. And okay, if I was on vacation in Paris this is probably the last place I’d want to go(I mean, c’mon vacay in Paris and you go to the Fridays of mussels!?) And the service kind of sucks… but no more than the service at the cute bistro down the street. But besides all of that, Leon de Bruxelles was one of my fave restos in Paris while I lived there. Awesome mussels and fries. And on Sundays for during a certain time of the year they do Moules a volonte!!! Wha??? All you can eat mussels and fries??? You have to do it once. Oh Leon de Bruxelles, how I miss you…

For my last restaurant meal in Paris, my aunt took me to Leon to try their mussels. We both got a combo deal to have mussels and dessert! She ordered mussels in a creamy broth and I had mussels in a tomato broth. Both were so good! But I enjoyed mine a lot better since there was a mix of calamari and shrimp to go along with the mussels. Our meal came out in cauldron like dishes and they were so cool! And I loved the fries! Belgium knows how to fry fries. :) I enjoyed the crème brûlée! It was pretty good. :) The belgium waffle with chocolate sauce and powdered sugar was okay. The chocolate sauce was too bitter and the waffle wasn’t that sweet, so the taste was quite confusing. I wish it was a lot sweeter.

My friends family wanted to go here. As a vegetarian I got nervous because this is a place where you get mussels. I ordered an omelet for my meal. It came with a salad. Overall, I feel if you do eat mussels, this place is a really good deal, you can get a salad, fries, mussels and a dessert plus drink for 20e. That is a lot of food. As for me, I ate what didn’t have seafood. Meh.

I love Belgium food, the waffles and the amazing mussels… yes this place is a chain… but I must admit it is not bad… when I’m craving Mussels in Paris I head here because it does not break my piggy bank in half and I have not had a bad experience yet… knock on wood… it does look like a tourist trap… but I must admit I like it.

This place came highly recommended by Lonely Planet. They raved about their reasonably priced yet delicious mussels and fries. Needless to say I couldn’t wait to try it. As much as I wanted to like this place, nothing about it impressed me; from the tacky wall furnishings, TGIF looking tables and chairs to the lackluster food. Our waiter took forever to come over and take our order even though the restaurant was empty. The bread he placed on our table was hard and stale tasting. It didn’t even come with butter! I ordered the mussels with chorizo, tomatoes and various spices. It looked delicious but I was disappointed when I put the first fork full in my mouth. It was salty and dry. I even got some shell or sand in another bite! I usually hate wasting food, but this was so underwhelming that I couldn’t even finish the other half. The fries were thick cut and unmemorable. This is the first and last time I’ll be taking recommendations from Lonely Planet.

Dear Leon de Bruxelles– I LOVEYOU! Your food is fantastic, your prices are reasonable, you are open late, and you have great service! I’ve been to France 3 times now and I’ve been to Leon all three times. I absolutely love it here! I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on expensive French food but I always find myself thinking about the mussels and fries at Leon. I had dinner with 5 people and we shared two appetizers — the bill came out to 100 euros. A great deal for some great food. I don’t eat cheese, but we ordered these baked mussels with what looked like pesto sauce and cheese on the top. I picked off the cheese of course and what was left was absolutely AMAZING! I’ll definitely be back to try some of the other flavors. I’m sure they are all fantastic.
