Pierre Hermé

One of the places that I had to visit during my time in Paris, I stopped by here to get some macarons after hearing so much about them. After having some macarons at this place, I realised why this place is so popular.
The flavours I got were the Mogador, the Infiniment Caramel, and the Céleste. Great texture, especially on the inside of the macaron, and each flavour was unique and creamy. The Mogador is a mix of passion fruit and chocolate, and that was a great blend of chocolate and juicy sweetness. The Infinement Caramel had a nice and sweet caramel flavour that I may not find in a cheap candy bar that would have caramel.
As for the Céleste, this is a mix of passion fruit, rhubarb and strawberries. This one had a great creaminess on the inside with a nice sweetness. Since Céleste can also be a girl’s name, if I had to «personify» the experience, it could be like sitting in a café, with a gorgeous, but sweet lady named Céleste, and the conversations would keep getting better and better, leading to an amazing evening in the end.
Anyway, the people who worked there were nice and friendly, and if you don’t speak French, they should be able to speak English, since it’s not too far from the Louvre, and obviously, the Louvre is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Paris.
Overall, if you are from Canada or the USA, really like macarons and are visiting Paris, stopping by at place like this is worthwhile, even if you are on a budget. I thought I had some of the best macarons so far. I have not found a place that can replicate the unique flavours yet. They should export these excellent macarons to Canada and the USA, while maintaining the consistent and excellent quality.

Never had these before coming to Paris and was curious which one tasted better– PH or Laudree. And PH def definitely won! Like other said, they have better flavor and texture. Came here twice within 4 days and had the rose, chocolate, rose &jasmine, coffee (so good), passion fruit, and pistachio– all were very good! I say you can’t go wrong with any flavor!

I was never a huge fan of macarons until I walked into Pierre Herme. I appreciate their unusual flavors but more so, their ability to create such strong and delicate flavors. This store was more than welcoming. I waltzed in just 10 minutes before closing, letting my sweet tooth guide me! They told me all about Pierre, his vision, the macarons and I was given a sample of one of the latest chocolates. I had to leave with some macarons. I am normally not a fan of Rose and Licorice but I was completely blown away by the great flavor but also the light, crispy texture. This is how it’s done!

Best macarons!
I visited Pierre Herme and Laduree during my visit to Paris in search for the best macaron. I personally find that Pierre Herme’s flavors are more unique and interesting. I couldn’t stop thinking about the passionfruit flavor. My husband and I brought a few boxes from Pierre Herme to bring back home even though Laduree’s gift boxes are way cuter. We also bought some in the gift box for our family from Laduree. After 5 days in the fridge, I have to say that Pierre Herme’s ones were more fresh and still as tasty as when I first got them. I cannot wait to come back for more macarons during our upcoming trip.

On hésite, devant les nombreuses saveurs de macarons (chocolat, caramel, rose) ou celles créées pour Noël (le macaron au fois gras, fruits exotiques ou le Mogador).
J’ai adoré le macaron chocolat/​foie gras, un délice.
Un conseil: optez pour la boîte de 7 macarons, avec le privilège de choisir sa sélection. Joli packaging, et Idéal pour offrir.
Il est possible d’acheter le macaron, à la pièce, pour la somme de 2E10, emballé dans un sachet transparent.

Phenomenal macarons. They’ve got some really interesting flavors going on here, including some that incorporate savory notes of foie gras and caviar. My favorite was the passionfruit, though. The texture is perfect and if you’re taking these home as a gift like I did, don’t worry. I refrigerated them as much as I could and they were just a great three days after purchasing. ALMOST as good as laduree, which I still prefer due to its more traditional flavors. Still, I wouldn’t complain if they decided to open a PH in the states.

I’m not crazy about macarons like everyone else but these were LEGIT. Get the ones with fresh mint if they have it.

Great macaroons with special flavors. They have both traditional, but mostly non-​traditional, special flavors. They are soft and a little chewy and about 3 – 4 euros each. I bought a small box and split them with my husband. They are definitely worth a try.

The best macaroons! Unfortunately this location pretty much only has the macaroons and none of the beautiful cakes or pastries that I’ve seen on Unilocal at the other locations. But I stopped by after visiting nearby Chanel. I got 7 macaroons for 18 Euro. They were a splurge but worth it. They just have the most perfect shell with the right amount of crisp and chewiness.
The texture is slightly better than those at Laudree and I like Pierre’s unique and bold flavors. I will always be a sucker for «standard» macaroon flavors such as salted caramel and a really good chocolate one, but we also enjoyed the unique ones such as rose, lycée, yogurt and raspberry.
Definitely check out a Pierre Herme while in Paris for a sensuous sweet treat. I may have not eaten as many croissants or pastries in Paris as I thought I would, but I was happy that I got to get macaroons twice (even though I wanted to go to PH one more time before I left). Pierre Herme, please open up a shop in the US!

I’m not a macaron person, but I did try the pistachio/​strawberry ice cream and lychee/​rose/​raspberry sorbet. The consistency of both was incredibly smooth, though the flavors were hard to detect. I wish they offered singular flavors instead of blending different ingredients — I felt like they could have a done a really good pistachio ice cream. Also, their smallest size is expensive and way too big of a portion for one person. A mini cup would be appreciated.

As good as it gets and 100x better than the chocolates/​macarons at Laduree!
Every time we’re in Paris, we make sure to stock up. And even after a week, macarons still taste fresh, moist and chewy soft unlike the macarons at Laduree which dry up after 2 days.
This isn’t unique or anything since all the patisseries and chocolatiers in Paris devote a ton of attention to packaging, Pierre Herme’s gift boxes are beyond cute and make great gifts for anyone!

Dear Pierre Herme,
I would’ve bought more than 4 macarons, even though I don’t LOVE macarons as much as I used to. But, you only had boxes for 24 macarons (not the 7 macaron-​box) and I really didn’t feel like spending over 40 euros on 24 macarons (you insisted, not one less!). And you said this was the case across all of your stores. Instead I ate some smushed macarons later in the day and the following day. At least they were still good. If I wasn’t so busy shopping, I may have stopped at another one of your shops to see if the 7 macaron boxes were really all sold out.

LOVE Pierre Herme!
Definitely one of the best macarons I’ve EVER tried. Soft and melts in your mouth. :) Worth the price. and they have lots of different flavors to choose from!
Even if you don’t like macarons (me, previously). this shop may just change your mind: p

I am huge on macarons and I did go to Paris in hopes to find Pierre Hermè The jasmine macaron was very sad, like it didn’t want to be eaten out of embarrassment of tasting so sad. The other two macarons that I had were very good. The special Jardin one I tried was minty and refreshing.
What would have made these macarons even better was if they were cool ratger than room temp.
The best macarons that I’ve had so far are Maison Burdisso in Houston’s Rice University farmer’s market.

Believe the hype. Pierre Herme makes the best macaron period. I compared the pistachio flavored macaron from Ladauree, Fauchon and PH and I must say although they all were very tasty, PH was my favorite. Each macaron cost 2,10 a pop. The outside shell had a good texture and a little bit of chewiness consistency. The pistachio filling was the perfect amount and had a lovely pistachio flavor. I should have bought more! The long line was worth the wait. Well hubby did the standing in line part. :)

I was living in the 16^th arrondisement for the 5 days I spent in Paris, so I actually passed by this particular Pierre Hermé every day, and I only regret that I didn’t stop in until the fourth day.
You see, I thought I didn’t like macarons. But Pierre Hermé doesn’t just serve up your basic macarons. No, Mister (Monsieur?) Hermé brings you beautiful, soft macaron cookies – separated with a lovely layer of cream in the most inventive flavors. Some are glittery. Some are ombré.
The glass case holds so many possibilities. Salted caramel. Banana. Yogurt, lychee, and raspberry (in one macaron, mind you). Passionfruit and chocolate. Small macarons. Big macarons (if you’ve never tried one of these, do it! I brought a salted caramel one to the airport with me, and I wish I had bought more). Cute boxes with little sketches of famous spots in Paris.
Don’t get me wrong. Ladurée is fine. But Pierre Hermé truly loves his craft, and this shows through in the flavors and textures of his macarons.
I actually have no idea where the other Pierre Hermé locations are in Paris, but this one was relatively empty every time I walked by it, so even if it’s a bit out of your way, I guess the pro is that you probably won’t have to wait!

High time to start the macaron challenge!
Mr & I decided to take the Paris taste test & determine who has the best. Pierre Herme offers smashup macarons!
Dubbed by French Vogue magazine as «The Picasso of Pastry», we could totally see how this honor could have been bestowed
Flavor combinations like Vanilla-​Violet; Milk Chocolate-​Passion Fruit — the texture was a bit more substantial-​cookie-​like and a higher filling-​to-​cookie ratio over places like Laudree. This isn’t to say one is better over the other — they’re just different
Choosing a box of 6 to sample; we enjoyed:
Salted Caramel
Passion Fruit-​Chocolate
Vanilla-​Violet (our fav!)
Pistachio
Rose-​Rose Petal
Pure Origin Chocolate
Much more research will be needed here — they were too yummy to make any final determinations

These are the kinds of macarons that make other European countries want to cross borders and murder for.

How have I not written about Pierre Hermé yet?!
First let me say that I have been to Paris 4x now and though I’d like to think I have a good grasp on what’s cool and new, it mattered a great deal to me to ask a friend who actually lives in Paris about where to go and what to eat. Having been a longtime fan of Ladurée, I had to know if they really were the end all be all of French macarons. And you know her answer? It was no! Sort of. And I was shocked because I feel like the whole world knows Ladurée to be the best of the best. And they are still absolutely amazing at making some of the worlds best macarons.
So why Pierre Hermé? They’re like a breath of fresh air. They’re flipping the traditional flavors and colors of macarons on their heads, and while the look and texture and technique seems similar to Ladurée, Pierre Hermé takes things to a whole new level. It was actually impossible to go in and reasonably buy just 1 – 3 macarons. I had to get a dozen because I simply wasn’t able to narrow the selection down based on how creative and exciting the choice of flavors were.
Better yet, beyond macarons they have dozens of other amazing items to choose from. All of the confections and baked goods look like art. They are art! Everything is so detailed and so gorgeous that photos can’t do it justice. I was just astounded with the selection of items and the quality of the craftsmanship.
The line right at opening was long but it moved quickly. Service was impeccable and the gal at the register spoke English fluently. Phew! She also gave us packing and shipping information about the products we bought so we knew its expected shelf life. Perfect for folks wanting to take items home to friends and family. Stunning place!

I love macaroons and we had a few taste test between this place and laudere.
We ate the following macaroons:
–black currant and violet was our number one favorite
–chocolate was good
–salted caramel (I preferred laudere because it was a bit more salty)
–passion fruit chocolate was good
–the other passion fruit was delicious
–seasonal honey was light and nice
Great macaroons. Some were better than laudere. Most of them tasted very fresh and light and flakey

Salut les gourmands, deuxième contribution française ici sur Unilocal (défilez vous en bas pour la version allemande). Cette fois c’est les macarons — et je vous parle maintenant des meilleurs macarons de Paris à mon avis — on peut les trouver auprès de Pierre Hermé. Non, chuis pas payé par P. Hermé — haha, ce serais le pieds, quand-​même il faut le dire parce qu’ ils sont vachement raffinés et de la qualité haut de gamme. J’ai déjà testé bcp des autres macarons chez Ladurée, Fauchon, Macaronde (Quatre Temps, la défense), Richart etc. mais aucun né leur arrivaient pas à la cheville!
Alors, ils ont une sélection qui es là tout le temps mais la plupart change selon des thèmes spécifiques. Aujourd’hui j’ai gouté un macaron de huile d’olive à la mandarine et un macaron «envie» (vanille, violettes & baies de cassis) — c’était une vrai explosion du goût dans la bouche. Le «imagine» (thé vert matcha & croustillant au sésame noir) était — je peux pas le croire — plutôt décevant — c’est vraiment pas typique normalement ils sont tous exceptionnels bons mais il faut dire la vérité ici. Seulement lire ces ingrédients extraordinaires que j’ai listé ici faut vous convaincre de les essayer et bien comparer aux autres macarons. Aussi la crème est super fraîche et la croûte craque mais pas trop et sans être sèche c’est très bien coordonné…Je serais bien curieux de savoir si vous pensiez la même chose ou pas :)

also, ich habe schon viele Macarons hier getestet wie z.B. bei Ladurée, Fauchon, Macaronde (Quatre Temps, la défense), Richart etc. aber keine können diesen hier das Wasser reichen! Es gibt eine ständige Auswahl und welche, die immer nur für eine bestimmte Zeit und gemäß eines bestimmten Themas angeboten werden. Heute habe ich mir einen Macaron mit Mandarinengeschmack und Olivenöl gegönnt, sowie einen mit Vanille-​Veilchen-​Johannisbeer-​Geschmack — der Hammer. Eine Geschmacksexplosion und super frisch. Der Macaron Matcha mit schwarzem Sesam war mal leider eine Enttäuschung um ehrlich zu sein — das kenne ich gar nciht von P. Hermé. Na ja, kann ja mal passieren…
Also, alleine wenn man diese rafinierten Zutaten liest (sowas habe ich selten bei den anderen gesehen) muss dies schon überzeugend sein. Die Kruste der Macarons ist knusprig aber ohne dabei zu trocken oder spröde zu sein, die Crème ist frisch und wohlschmeckend! Ich bin wirklich gespannt, ob Ihr änliche Erfahrungen macht, wenn Ihr Euch durch die Macaron-​Welt in Paris schlemmt…

I think I would give this Pierre Herme 3.5 stars, but I’m rounding up to 4.
The macarons were deliciously flavorful and service was good, as it had better be for the price you pay for them! The packaging was also sturdy and beautiful. I had also gone to Laduree and gotten a box of macarons there that ended up getting partially squashed, but Pierre Herme’s box is much sturdier.
However, I think that everyone knows that macarons need to be aired out at room temperature after they’re refrigerated, before being consumed. Otherwise, they’re chewy and hard instead of soft, fluffy and crispy. Some of the macarons I chose had noticeably been refrigerated because they were still slightly cold when I bit into them, and had not been fully aired out and returned to room temperature yet. Therefore, they did not have the soft, fluffy and crispy texture that they should have all had.
I don’t know… I feel like this is a newbie faux pas, and I don’t know why or how a dedicated high-​end macaron establishment could make this mistake.

A défaut de mettre 3,5 ça sera 3… un peu sous noté certe mais on m’avait vendu du rêve en me parlant de ces macarons…

Le sucré était plutôt bon, mais pour les salés les saveurs sont peu perceptibles.
Au final me voilà ravi car a 2,1 € l’unité je suis content de préférer ceux de bouillet (soyons un peu chauvin) qui sont plus subtiles et deux fois moins cher

Oui j’écris encore un avis sur Pierre Hermé…La faute aux quatre macarons que je me suis enfilés tout à l’heure et qui m’ont fait une nouvelle fois penser que c’était vraiment le maître des macarons.
Je parle bien sûr du macaron Jasmin, et du macaron Ispahan, qui sont à mon grand malheur (mais au fond tant mieux pour mon compte en banque.) temporaires et vont disparaître des boutiques dans les jours qui suivent.
Bön les autres saveurs sont bonnes aussi mais mon top 3 reste: Jasmin, Ispahan, Rose (oui les macarons aux fleurs sont les meilleurs… manqué plus que Fleur d’Oranger et ce serait parfait). De vrais orgasmes gustatifs à en croire mes «Mmmmmh», «Oh mon Dieu» quand je les ai mangés…
Sinon j’aime beaucoup cette boutique rue Cambon, infiniment plus calme que celle rue Bonaparte (mais sans les pâtisseries). Une étoile en moins à cause du prix, évidemment. Actuellement 2,10 euros le macaron… un plaisir à se faire avec parcimonie.

Best macarons ever! While Ladurée is good (and well marketed), Pierre Hermé is the best!
The flavors are incredible and the cookies are beautifully delicate. Absolute perfection. Plus you won’t have to deal with the ridiculously long lines of tourists. I really love the clean and modern décor, and the staff is very helpful. The macarons are definitely pricey, but well worth a try.

Tout simplement les meilleurs macarons de Paris (si ce n’est du monde). Pierre Hermé dépassé Ladurée. C’est très cher (compter un peu moins de 30 euros le coffret assortiment de 12 et 52 euros le coffret de 24), mais on atteint la perfection: les mélanges qui se renouvellent régulièrement sont surprenants et toujours parfaitement réussis. Le macaron fond en bouche, un grand moment.

And the Macaron Oscar goes to… Pierre Hermé!! Hands down, THE best macarons in the world! :D
Stopping by Pierre Hermé is the highlight of my trip to France every year. I love the bold and creative flavors that Monsieur Hermé comes up with and the fact that these pastries (the French do not call macarons «cookies») last a lot longer than the ones you find at Ladurée. (I always bring back a box to my bestie and they endure the long flight back to the US, plus a few days after!) The macarons have plenty of filling (giving you a nice, soft center) and the shells are perfectly intact. It was love at first bite… with a lovely little crunch!

For those that would like to know, both Pierre Hermé and Ladurée use the Italian meringue method for making macarons as opposed to the French meringue method. It involves making a sugar syrup that gets poured into the egg whites to create a more stable batter, which then results in a more consistent macaron. A little more complex (and more tools involved) than the latter but the end result is quite satisfactory. SO glad to have a foodie BFF that can teach me about all of this and let me eat all the yummy creations! :D
This Pierre Hermé is probably my favorite location out of all the other ones. The girls that work here are polite and very helpful and not at all snooty. Well, at least not with me! (If you don’t TRY to speak French then don’t be surprised if they get offended.) I also liked that this pâtisserie was close by the hotel I was staying at (Hôtel Costes) and is conveniently located nearby some of the major fashion boutiques. I love that I could take some of my treats and walk over to Le Jardin des Tuileries, one of the most beautiful parks in Paris, and just mingle with the locals. La vie est belle non? :)

Pierre Hermé… une pâtisserie où le spectacle est dans devant, où une horde de touristes se masse en rêvant devant les gâteaux ou se délecte de quelques mignardises, macarons et autres délicates choses. un goût qui restera dans leur inconscient comme la marque indélébile de ce qu’est Paris: une Gourmandise.
Dedans, on né sait où donner des yeux, tout semble bon, délicieux et l’on est parfois un peu perdu face à cette explosion de couleurs et de saveurs (parfois un peu trop de saveurs mélangées à mon goût), et l’on finit par craquer pour cet Ispahan qui nous murmure dans le creux de l’oreille «désire moi, prend moi, déguste moi»…

L’infiniment Rose: de la rose et rien que de la rose pour un gouter plaisir et léger. J’adore j’adore j’adore.
Le Mogador: une belle surprise. Je né suis pas fan de chocolat mélangé avec des fruits mais là, encore une fois, c’est parfait. On sent autant le chocolat que le fruit de la passion. C’est ça qui me plait chez Pierre Hermé, dans tout ce que l’on déguste on sent tous les goûts, c’est exceptionnel.
J’en aime beaucoup alors je termine sur celui qui m’a le plus étonné et que j’apprécie plus que tout. Vous allez me détestez parce que je né me souviens pas de son nom et je né le retrouve pas. Toujours est-​il qu’il y a du thé dedans et que c’est magique. On a la sensation de manger de la mousse de thé, légèrement sucré, whouahou.

Les meilleurs macarons de tout Paris ! A goûter de toute urgence !

Sans doute les meilleurs macarons Né cherchez pas de parfums classiques, ici l’originalité prime avec un choix qui évolue selon les saisons.

Macarons haute couture et très fins, ils méritent largement leur réputation d’être les meilleurs. Ceux de Ladurée sont bons mais trop sucrés pour mon palet.
Je vous conseille celui au caramel au beurre salé et celui à la rose (je vous les conseillerais tous mais ça ferait cher la gourmandise).
Vendeurs très sympas et qui conseillent en plus de ça!

Toujours appréciable pour une pause gourmande!!!

PH, dieu vivant de la pâtisserie, tes macarons sont à tomber à la renverse tellement ils sont succulents! Oui des macarons au poids à environ 2 € pièce on en prend pas tous les jours, mais moi ils me remontent le moral de temps en temps, alors bon quand je suis en déplacement à Paris je filoche chez Pierrot, je né suis jamais décue :)

Pour le moment je n’ai goûté que la plupart de ses macarons (pas encore testé les autres pâtisseries mais je pense que ça né va plus trop tarder !)
Y’en a un qui me marque tjrs autant et je suis vraiment déçue qu’il né soit plus dans la carte: le macaron au thé vert matcha et haricots rouges, qui était en édition limitée l’année dernière. Il était tout simplement parfait !
C’est cher mais on oublie très vite cet aspect dès le premier macaron en bouche !

J’ai testé leur thé. Il sont vraiment délicieux.
On m’a offert un coffret chocolat. En 10min, il y en avait plus!

Les boutiques Pierre Hermé ont évidemment moins de charme que les boutiques Ladurée mais j’ai une nette préférence pour la marque Pierre Hermé dont je trouve les macarons meilleurs.
Ici, les macarons sont plus gros que ceux de Ladurée (ça, c’est pour la rentabilité!), exposés en vitrine en face d’étagères présentant autres friandises, notamment des confitures.
Le tout dans un lieu branché, des couleurs noires ponctuées de couleurs flash, un environnement agréable dans lequel on succombe très rapidement à la tentation !
Parfait pour une virée shopping rue Saint Honoré: petit arrêt chez Colette, hop on tourné à gauche pour tomber rue Cambon, on achète un petit en cas chez Pierre Hermé et on finit aux Tuileries pour le déguster tranquillement sur un banc au soleil…

Quoi de plus chic que d’aller chez Pierre Hermé arpès une session shopping rue Saint Honoré?
Laissez tomber les apparences, pas besoin d’être «so chic» pour se faire plaisir.
Car oui, nous aussi, les petits porte-​monnaies on a le droit de se faire du bien.
Prenez donc une petite boîte de 7 macarons que vous choisissez avec soin (12 euros). Voici les derniers en date que j’ai goûté :
Huile d’olive & vanille, Fragola (fraise, vinaigre balsamique),Éden
(pêche, abricot & safran), Magnifique (fraise et wasabi).
