C & A

Good variety, good quality, good prices. It’s one of my go to places in Berlin for clothing basics. Plus it’s right on Alexanderplatz so it’s easy to go get some food, drink in between shopping sessions.
And there many other good stores around to make up a well rounded shopping trip.

C&A hat durchaus gute Qualität, zwar auch nicht bei jedem Teil, aber man findet immer eine solide Grundausstattung. Die Verkaufsräume sind immer aufgeräumt und ordentlich und die Mitarbeiter immer freundlich.
Der Damenbereich richtet sich größtenteils an ältere Herrschaften, Accessoires sind aber zeitlos und geschmackvoll.
Besonders empfehlenswert ist die Kinderetage. Dort gibt es viele Kleidungsstücke aus Bio Baumwolle hergestellt. Ebenfalls gut ausgestattet ist der Herrenbereich. Hier gibt es Anzüge und Krawatten für wenig Geld.
C&A hat im Gegensatz zu Konkurrenten der gleichen Preissparte Kooperationen mit terre des hommes und spricht sich klar gegen Kinderarbeit aus.
Ein Vorreiter in vorbildlichen Produktionsbedingungen sind sie aber auch nicht, denn alleine auf Kinderarbeit zu verzichten hebt nicht die Sicherheitsstandards in den Betrieben. Nachfragen hilft und übt Druck auf die Unternehmen aus! Also immer mit Köpfchen einkaufen :)

Overall, I think C&A can be very hit and miss with its selection, and it depends a lot upon the store you go to. However, this particular location doesn’t have much of a selection from what I could see. Even with the four floors, it seems like a lot of the cute things I had seen on the website just couldn’t be found. Also, the fact that it’s in the middle of Alexanderplatz and constantly overrun doesn’t help either. My advice? If you really want to go to C&A, opt for another location.

How interesting. C and A no longer trades in the UK. However, I discovered that C und A are still alive and well in Germany!
C & A were known for clothes at the cheaper end of the price spectrum and they were especially renown for cheap ski clothing. I suffered a wardrobe malfunction when on holiday in Germany over the weekend, necessitating the purchase of a new pair of trousers
C & A was exactly as I remembered from its time in the UK. There was a wide range of trousers available and once I figured out how European sizes work (there were a few comical moments in the changing room when I had trousers far too big for me), I quickly found a suitable pair at a good price
