Metropolitan Drinks

These guys really know their stuff. We sat at the bar and watched them work, and their skills are on-​point.
The only reason that I’m not giving them a 5 star review is that they’re still playing it safe. The Gin Basil Smash I got was good, but it was a gin-​lemon cocktail with a taste of basil, not a gin-​basil cocktail with a taste of lemon. It’s still sweet drinks of different flavors, nothing really pushing the envelope. The one drink that looked outside the box, the safrontini, wasn’t available because they didn’t have the saffron vodka required to make it, and the barman wasn’t going to substitute. (That is commendable, and he had my respect for not serving a drink rather than serving a substandard drink.)
This shouldn’t denigrate their good work, they have a deft and subtle hand in their creations. But until they branch out, making savory, spicy, salty, and bitter cocktails in addition to the sweet ones that dominate the menu, it won’t be 5 stars in my book.

Wusste garnicht, dass Erfurt so eine gute Bar zu bieten hat. Grandioses Flair und freundlicher Bartender. Da sein Chef nicht da war, lief statt Electronic richtig gute Loungemusik. Preise sind schon gehobenes Niveau, aber Cocktails sind groß und gut gemixt. Auf jeden Fall empfehlenswert.
