There seems to be a piece of mango in my lunch… This Vietnamese restaurant is located in the basement of the Erlanger Arcaden. True to the motto of the restaurant(mango, duh!), the walls are painted in bright green, red, beige & brown, and you can find little panels full of information on the exotic fruit hanging from the walls(mid-lunch entertainment?). And as mentioned above, it might just be a company policy to add a piece of mango to each meal, as I found one solitary piece of said fruit swimming in my sweet ‘n sour sauce. Not that it’s a bad thing, mind you! I can always find something nice on the lunch deal menu(you can choose between 3 meals), but they also offer snack boxes(for take away), and many different things on their normal menu(soups, vietnamese specialties, vegetarian meals,…) The service is okay, you obviously have to get your food yourself at the counter and pay right away, but in case your choice of food takes a little longer to prepare, you will be asked to take a seat and the lovely lady behind the counter will serve it to you at the table instead. But you will never have to wait longer than 3 – 5 minutes. The prices are moderate, the lunch deal costs between 5 and 6 €, the normal meals are not much more expensive. The food is fantastic! I do not have very much experience in the field of Vietnamese food, so I wouldn’t be able to judge whether it’s authentic or not, but it’s really good. So good actually, that I choked several times on chili seeds that were happily swimming around in the sweet ‘n sour sauce… no but really, it’s great! Even if I didn’t expect the hot & spicy part. And unlike many other food courts or restaurants situated within malls, Mango Tree is absolutely clean and inviting. Within the Arcaden it’s definitely the restaurant with the highest quality. Bottom line: * High quality food for a moderate price * The mandatory single chunk of mango * clean & fast!
