Vapiano

Fast-​Food und tut so als obs ein Edel-​Italiener ist. lachhaft. kein Service, klebrige Tische, Lange Wartezeiten… Franchise halt.
Dann lieber entweder McDonalds oder in einen der (zum Glück) vielen guten italienischen Restaurants hier in Frankfurt. Ich kann kaum nachvollziehen wie sich dieses Konzept hier in FFM überhaupt solange hält. hat (m.M.n) einfach keine Daseinsberechtigung. In Niederrad, Eschborn von mir aus.

Ich fand es zu laut, eine ewige Wartezeit auf die Speisen. Als Familie hat man keine Chance gleichzeitig zu essen. Nach dem Shoppen war der Laden vollig überlaufen, der Personal gibt einem das Gefühl «Friss und geh». Es wirkte sehr dreckig und und unorganisiert. Alles in allem «NIE WIEDER!!!»

Dreckig Geschirr wird nicht abgeräumt obwohl nicht voll Gabel dreckig vom Glas ganz zu schweigen. Das Konzept gehört überarbeitet vom Platz aus mit einem Tablet bestellen oder per Smarthphone. So stellt man sich erst am Salat an dann bei der Pizza nervt. Das Personal bedient einen Lustlos und wenn jemand Deutsch kann dann hat man Glück. Das Personal redet arabisch untereinander man kommt sich richtig doof vor. Für den Preis setzen wir uns lieber in eine ruhige kleine Pizzeria und werden freundlich bedient.

Hatte Vapiano besser in Erinnerung. Es könnte sauberer sein und die Schlagen sind nervig lang. Das Essen ist gut aber für den Preis stimmt das ganze drumherum nicht. Schade, ich fand es hier mal richtig gut!

Die Qualität der Speisen ist wirklich konstant: Immer frisch und lecker. Auch die Season Specials mag ich sehr. Allerdings ist das Konzept eindeutig ausbaufähig, denn die Wartezeiten sind einfach zu lang!

Am Pizzastand 3 Leute aber leer, salatbar die immer läuft 1 man…;(((Antiservice!

So, wieder mal Vapiano und es wird nicht besser :-/
Wir waren am Samstag hier und es war eine Katastrophe. Nachdem wir shoppen waren, wollten wir kurz etwas bei Vapiano essen gehen.
Es war, wie gewohnt, sehr voll also warteten wir in der Schlange. Ich entschied mich für einen Insalata mista mit Thunfisch und meine Begleitung für eine Pizza Calzone. Soweit so gut. Ich hatte nach längerer Wartezeit dann doch etwas Entertainment. Die Kundin nach mir bestellte Vitello Tonnato und bekam dies auch direkt (vor meinem Salat natürlich). Der zweite Mitarbeiter an der Theke merkte kurz an, dass Vitello Tonnato falsch eingebucht ist (die Mitarbeiterin hatte Bruschetta gebucht) und die Kundin ihre Karte erneut an das Gerät halten soll. Die Kollegin schickte die Kundin daraufhin weg und meinte, das wäre alles so in Ordnung. Kaum war die Kundin weg, sagte die Mitarbeiterin zu ihrem Kollegen, dass sie es falsch gebucht hatte, aber dies ja auch egal wäre, es wäe ja nicht ihr Geld. Der Kollege stand dann etwas verdutzt da, machte aber dann irgendwann meine Salat weiter.
Nach wirklich langer Wartezeit und diesem Vorfall, der mich zum Nachdenken gebracht hat, hatte ich also endlich meinen Salat.
Meine Begleitung saß zunächst 20 Minuten da und hat — was in Ordnung ist — auf die Calzone gewartet. Als diese fertig war hat er sie von der Pizzastation abgeholt. Am Tisch aufgeschnitten mussten wir feststellen, dass diese zwar außen fertig war, aber innen noch komplett roh und nicht durchgebacken. Meine Begleitung ist also wieder zurück zur Pizza Station. Nach längerer Diskussion wurde die Calzone dann inkl. der Basilikum-​Deko wieder in den Ofen geschoben. Einen Pager bekam er nicht mehr. Er sollt einfach nach einiger Zeit mal gucken kommen und nach der Calzone fragen. Nach 10 Minuten ist er dann also wieder an die Station und hat die Calzone abgeholt, die schon (wie lange auch immer) oben auf dem Ofen stand.
Wieder am Tisch angeschnitten war dieses nach wie vor teigig und eben von innen roh. Ich habe die Calzone also erneut zur Pizzastation gebracht. Der zuständige Mitarbeiter sah das PRoblem überaupt nicht und schickte mich mit der Pizza zum Schichtleiter.
Als ich ihm die Calzone gezeigt habe hat dieser dann angeboten, eine ganz neue anzufertigen. Eine Entschuldigung für das Ganze gab es nicht. Ich habe ihn dann gebeten, die Calzone von der Rechnung zu nehmen. Er verwies mich darauf, dass ich an der Kasse einfach Bescheid geben soll, dass sie runtergenommen werden soll.
Wir sind dann also zur Kasse und haben gesagt, dass die Calzone ausgebucht werden soll. Auf der KAsse erschienen dann die Optionen für den Mitarbeiter, die Ausbuchung zu begründen (in unserem Fall: Kundenreklamation). Ich schilderte dem Mitarbeiter die Vorkommnisse und er klickte einfach auf «vertippt» als Grund für die Ausbuchung ohne die Kundenreklammation zu tracken. Ich habe ihn direkt darauf angesprochen, darauf reagierte er nicht, sondern nannte nur den Betrag. Das machte mich etwas sprachlos, ich habe ihn dann aber erneut angesprochen, warum er nicht richtig bucht. Er sagte dann nur, seine Schicht hätte gerade begonnen und er hat es von der Rechnung genommen, also sollte ich zufrieden sein.
Leider waren wir das aber eben ganz und gar nicht. Ich kann nicht verstehen, wie man so mit Kunden umgehen kann. Bei dem Gespräch zwischen den beiden Mitarbeitern ist mir aber klar geworden, dass offenbar noch nicht mal die Mitarbeiter hinter dem Store stehen. Daher wundert mich der Rest dann auch nicht.
Mich sieht dieser Laden nicht wieder.

Ja… das Vapiano. Früher gehypt, jetzt gibt es definitiv bessere Fast-​Food Restaurants.
Es fängt schon beim Reingehen an: Die Lüftung funktioniert seit Jahren nicht, sodass die Luft stickig ist und die Kleidung nach einem Besuch immer nach Essen riecht. Das Anstehen an der Schlange ist gestern gewesen. Die Mitarbeiter sind immer gestresst, vergessen die Bestellungen oft weswegen man eigentlich immer mitschauen muss. Häufig ist es mir passiert, dass bei meinem Salat der Schafskäse vergessen wurde oder die Portion Fleisch. Zwar werden immer Specials angeboten, aber wenn man sie haben möchte gibt es sie nicht. Ich kann mich nicht erinnern, wann ich ein Special bestellt und tatsächlich auch erhalten habe. Die Salate sind mittelmäßig, die Suppen allerdings gut. Bei den Mitarbeitern gibt es große Unterschiede, sowohl in der Freundlichkeit als auch in der Qualität. Da muss man leider aufpassen. Aber auch das Warten in der Schlange wie in einer Kantine und das Hoffen auf einen guten Platz stören mit mehr und mehr. Pluspunkt sind zwar die günstigen Preise, jedoch gibt es, wie zuvor gesagt, bessere Fast-​Food Restaurants in Frankfurt.

Dem Vapiano in Frankfurt wollten wir also auch einen Besuch abstatten.
Das Vapiano kämpft immer mehr mit dem schlechten Image, welches Wartezeiten sowie Qualität bemängelt.
Am Goetheplatz jedoch war dies nicht der Fall. Ich bestellte einen großen, gemischten Salat mit Riesengarnelen und meine Begleitung holte sich Pasta Scampi e Spinaci. Beides schmeckte ausgezeichnet.
Ich mag es eigentlich sehr gerne, dem Koch zusehen zu können und nehme da auch das Anstellen in Kauf. Die Köche sowie das restliche Personal waren freundlich.
Die Toiletten waren äußerst sauber.
Bei Vapiano ist es einfach so, dass man das Konzept eben entweder liebt oder hasst. Ich liebe es.

So I finally went to the famous Vapiano and the experience was kind of average. Nothing really special.
The lady at the counter did not give us a full attention and we had to repeat our order several times. The service was not that amazing and the atmosphere at the place was strange.
The food was quite good, but also not outstanding. Just an average Italian restaurant.

This was a unique experience for me and I thought the food was just fantastic! I am a vegetarian and had the ravioli con ricotta e rucola, with a side salad. Fast (made in front of you while you watch) & yummy!

Wir sind gar nicht erst zum Essen gekommen. Überall lagen Teller und Essensreste der Vorgänger herum. Hygiene? Nein Danke!

Es ist halt leider oft mit langen Wartezeiten verbunden, obwohl die Zutaten frisch sind. Wir waren zu viert am 15.07. ten dort. Leider kann man nur selten zusammen essen, da die Counter unterschiedlich lange zur Zubereitung benötigen. Ansonsten ok, leider aber auch nicht günstig.

Also wenn ich mal in der Stadt bin und Hunger bekomme gehe ich sehr sehr gerne ins Vapiano.
Es ist zwar eine Kette aber immer frisch. Egal in welcher Stadt ich war und einen Abstecher nach Vapiano gemacht habe war es eigentlich immer toll.
Aber mein liebster ist der am Goetheplatz.
Er liegt schön nah zur Shoppingmeile und ich mag lieber etwas frisches, gesundes essen wenn ich in der nähe bin.
Ich finde ja das System im Vapiano witzig.
Ich bekomme eine Karte mit der ich bei meinem aufenthalt Bargeldlos bezahle (Bezahlt wird am ende an der Kasse) und ich kann sogar zusehen wie mein essen gemacht wird.
Ja, zuweilen gibt es längere Schlangen aber ich finde es lohnt sich immer wegen des essens. Das ich sehen kann wie mein essen zubreiet wird is eigentlich witzig. Ich als Allergiker kann dann immer intervenieren wenn es sein muss.
Für mich ist das essen einfach nur lecker und klasse und auch der Preis finde ich sehr angenehm.
Verweilen werde ich noch sehr oft dort.

Zugegeben, mich hat das Konzept von Vapiano noch nie überzeugt. Etwas höhere Preise als beim Italiener um die Ecke und dann muss man sich noch alles selbst holen. Das verstehe wer will? Gut, ich habe mich mal wieder breit schlagen lassen und bin mit. Bei Frauen, so mein Eindruck, kommt das Vapiano immer besser weg, vielleicht liegt das am Dinkel-​Spaghetti? Auch das verstehe wer will? Stellvertretend für andere Vapianos schreibe ich diese kleine Rezension. Meine Erfahrungen im Vapiano in Mannheim, Mainz, München, Nürnberg, Saarbrücken, Stuttgart und Kiel sind eigentlich identisch.
Das Ambiete soll wohl irgendwie stylisch sein. Alle Stationen haben zumeist eine Warteschlange mit entsprechender Wartezeit. Die Köche sind zumeist hektisch, pampig und/​oder sprechen schlecht deutsch, die Bedienungen sind nicht besser. Das Essen ist nicht unlecker, aber der Rest… Irgendwie McD. für «gehobene Großstädter» und solche, die sich so fühlen…
Meiner Frau gefällt es, ich fürchte, ich werde immer wieder mal hin müssen… Mir ist der Italiener um die Ecke lieber.

Einer der schlechtesten vapianos, die je besucht habe.
Die Mitarbeiter schaffen es sogar bei wenig Kundenaufkommen 20 Minuten für ein einfachen Salat zu brauchen, dass genau soviel kostet wie in einem Restaurant mit service. Pizza falsch belegt. Also nochmal 10 minuten warten. Nudeln sind in der zwischenzeit kalt.

Vapiano wie man es halt kennt. Nicht besonders gut, aber auch nicht besonders schlecht.
Ich gehe alle paar Jahre mal dort hin und weiß, was mich erwartet: Die Qualität ist über Jahre hinweg die gleiche, was wohl auch zum Konzept Vapiano gehört.

I like sitting outside whenever I go here, since it feels a bit stuffy and hot inside.
For pastas, so far I have tried penne with mushrooms and penne with green pesto. Definitely a fan of penne with mushrooms, it tastes especially good with chilli garlic (ask for it when they’re cooking your sauce), pesto was meh, I can get a similar result by using a jar of store-​bought pesto.
And as for pizzas I have tried so many of them that it’d be easier to list the ones I didn’t try. It’s usually very well cooked, the crust is thin and crispy. One problem is it takes too damn long to get a pizza! I understand they’re getting a lot of orders but they might want to invest in a bigger oven so they can cook more at the same time. Otherwise, fresh ingredients and really friendly cooks in both stations. Haven’t tried the salad and antipasti stations yet, but I’m planning to try those out soon!

Hilfe! Das sowas überhaupt möglich ist. Hier meine persönlichen Eindrücke:
Das Schlimmste vorneweg: Der Notausgang war völlig verbarrikadiert! Ich verstehe ja, wenn man aus Versehen was dort steht, aber einen Kinderhochstuhl demonstrativ davor zu stellen UND eine Absperrvorrichtung sind KEIN Zufall mehr! Jedem Betriebsleiter müsste das sofort ins Auge springen. Beweisfoto anbei.
Die Ausschilderung der Toiletten absolut mangelhaft bzw. existiert kaum und man irrt durch den riesigen Laden.
Alles war total stickig und voller Küchengestank. Gott sei Dank konnten wir im Freien sitzen. Nach dem Anstehen konnte man den Geruch schon in den Kleidern bemerken und wenn man anschließend noch einen Kundentermin hat geht das gar nicht.
Außerdem gab es kein Wlan. In einer Businessmetropole wie FFM eine Zumutung.
Nie wieder VAPIANO!

Draußen sitzt man ganz schön und ich finde generell die Idee von frischem mediterranen «Fast Food» gut. Was ich nicht mag ist das System: Im Küchendampf anstehen und auf sein Essen warten während man sich eigentlich lieber mit seinen Freunden am Tisch unterhalten würde. Dafür ist mir der Service irgendwie zu wichtig. Die Antipastiplatte war ok aber haut einen nicht mit hochwertigen Speisen vom Hocker, Nudeln mit Kürbissoße waren noch ein bisschen hart und wenig gewürzt. Bei den Preisen kann man nicht meckern, aber dann lieber einen 10er drauflegen und wo anders essen.

Ich möchte immer ungerne weniger als 3 Sterne vergeben und ich gehe jetzt auf die 3 Sterne weil das Konzept an sich cool ist.
Aber. Die Nudeln haben nur nach Chili geschmeckt und Soße war sich nicht wirklich dran.
Nach 20 min. In der Schlange war der Geschmack eben nicht überzeugend.
Schade ich war lange nicht da und werde es auch sein lassen.

Acceptable food, acceptable prices, acceptable ambiance… boring.

Früher war ich häufiger im Vapiano, wegen der langen Wartezeit habe ich es lange gemieden, vor kurzem war ich mal wieder da, leider ein Fehler, 3 Leute vor mir an der Pastatheke und schwups war die erste halbe Stunde der Mittagspause vorbeidas kann ich nicht gebrauchen.
Kochen kann man das auch nicht wirklich nennen, die Nudeln sind aber immerhin aldente, bei den Preisen tendiere ich allerdings im Hinblick auf die Qualität auf gehoben.

Perhaps I’m not as with it as I used to be,* but I’ve never heard of Vapiano. Apparently it’s an international chain. I only knew it served pasta, and I was ravenous and walking by.
Upon entering, some guy just handed me a card of some kind and jabbered at me in German. Not wanting to seem like more of a moron than I am, I just nodded and walked past. Apparently the cards are like those punchcards you get at Katz’s: the staff records what you ordered and you check out at the end. (Don’t lose the thing, or you’re going to owe them $ 50.)
In any case, you get in line, grab a tray and then order from one of the a la minute cooks. There’s pizza and pasta, but I usually avoid pizza outside of NYC because I eat entirely too much pizza in NYC. You can choose from a host of different types of pasta, and then you choose your sauce combination from four different price tiers. The cook then makes it all happen in a [traditional Italian] wok. You then go grab a seat wherever you can find one, and stuff your face.
Strange ordering system aside, I see this chain taking America by storm because it’s a fat man’s DREAM. I know this, because I was even satisfied by the enormous portions, although the drastically overdressed salad turned me off a bit. However, the bread was excellent, the fresh pasta of surprisingly high quality, and the sauces we chose were not half bad. It is a cafeteria atmosphere, but the prices are correspondingly cheap, and I do like the touch of having fresh basil and rosemary on the tables for your use.
I’m generally not a fan of chains of any kind, but I’ve had much worse meals for much more money, and I’d do it again.

Der einzige Vapiano bisher der sehr sauber ist. Die Pizzen und pastagerichte schmecken wie beim Italiener und nicht wie bei pizza Hut. Die Bar ist gut gemacht und der Service wirklich gut.

I walked past the place on Great Portland Street (on the former site of Mash) and have always been intrigued about the food. An interesting idea that you get made-​to-​order food and drink at various stations that get recorded on a RFID swipe card. A sort of reverse Wagamama if you will.
Only downside is the queues. A pizza can only cook as fast the oven will allow it, so I opted for pasta. The menu allows you to choose from a number of sauces and types of pasta and the chef takes a box of premeasured pasta (presume it’s fresh as the cook time is less than a couple of minutes) and then prepares the sauce for you.
Your average station can only handle two customers at a time though. But there are clever things like the automatic pans which lower and then rise when the pasta is cooked. Given the number of customers that were queing they manage to turn around the dishes pretty good (it was hot in the building though — as it was 29 degrees outside — a rare Frankfurt summers day) and the food wasn’t bad. But you gotta feel for the chefs as the pressure to turn around dishes was intense. My total wait time was no more than ten minutes which is impressive.
Bill was a reasonable € 8 for a bowl of pasta and a soft drink. Don’t go in there expecting gourmet Italian. Overall it’s a good place to grab a bite before going to the movies and it’s away from the main shopping craziness so relatively peaceful to eat.

A Franchise Italian can this work? It can.
Update: They have lost a lot since their initial opening. Nowadays, especially this subsidiary appears to be poorly managed. Cooks of rather sluggish and lazy appearance don’t seem to care a lot about that others intend to eat what they prepare. It’s extreme here, but I notice similar tendencies at their other outlets as well. Probably this has just been due to the concept’s overwhelming success in recent years.
When entering the location through its only entrance, I was suprised by the number of people who obviously had already made Vapiano a crowded ‘In-​Location’.
After receiving my RFID-​card from a very friendly hostess at the cashier’s desk, I passed by the bar and lounge area, which let me into a large room with long tables (somewhat similiar to a beer garden) and several counters where a dozen chefs were busy preparing fresh italian food on customer’s demands. Though the speed clearly makes the service suffer.
For the newcomer orientation is somewhat difficult here, since there are no guides helping you out on where to order which one of the offered specialties; an the cooks are way too busy for long explanations.
The food itself is as hummy as you would expect, after having watched its lively preparation, though some herbs like oregano or thyme may not have hurt the pasta’s taste and my assigned cook could not really keep his own promise of a ‘medium’-cooked tuna on my pasta.
But that’s all been corrected by the fresh basil and rosemary growing on literally every table, awaiting a demanding customer to pick their leaves off.
While queueing for the next portion it hit me, that it my not be bad to have access to the data that had been stored on my RFID-card’s account so far, to avoid trouble with probable booking accidents, when finally paying at the restaurant’s exit.
Aside all that I have to admit being convinced by the concept’s success and in most cases the high quality of the freshly prepared food and ingredients either.

I live in Atlanta and went to this Frankfurt location in 2007. It is 2011; the food was very good, so good in fact that it has stuck in my mind this whole time and I had to find out the name of this place 4 years later. Like one other review, the card, lines, and waits can be strange and are not the best, but I feel whatever you point at will be delicious. And I just found out there are US locations.

I remain underwhelmed. I don’t mind the RF card technology or not having a waiter. But the food quality is really only average. Pizzas are OK but not outstanding. The «homemade» pasta isn’t made by some Italian Mama lovingly kneeding egg and flour. It’s just a prepared flour mixed with plain olé water and stuffed through a processor, i.e. exactly the same as what Barilla does in the factory.
Real homemade pasta with egg has a delicate texture. Vapiano pasta is just gummy. But hey, it’s homemade so it must be good, right? OOtherwise the Frankfurt location needs to hire extra people to clear tables of refuse and clean the danged restrooms (!!!).
For the same money I can find many Italian joints with better food and service.

More of a place to be seen rather than a place to go for a good meal. Lots of want-​to– be hip and happening types hang out here. I use to like this restaurant for its food but the quality of the food preparation has gone down hill. Last two times I had paste there it was badly done and I have decided to write it off my list of restaurants. However if you want to hang out with the Huge Boss straight leg black jeans and Ralph Lauren polo shirt wearing crowd it might be the place for you. Oh and don’t forget your sweater which should be worn on your shoulders, then you will fit right in.

Food was cold. Portions small. Service bad. There was not a lot going on but still it took ages for the food. They did not clean the tables and when asked to do so it was done but with little enthusasm.

Had a good meal here. They speak English and the food was great. Interesting concept you get a card and go up to the station you want (pizza, pasta, salad) place your order and then take it back to eat. The best part was the pasta. It is very fresh made to order. The worst part was the line for the pasta. Took about. 15 min wait to place my order. In the end it was worth it. Also affordable.

Went here and met a guy that spoke spanish (Thank god… idk German haha) Food was great and the ppl were very nice!

Had lunch here on a Sunday which meant finding an empty table to sit at was not too much of a problem. I think my pasta was a good effort — salami with rocket and ricotta — but it was under seasoned and had a bit too much butter (and no lemon juice). My friend’s calzone was much better and pretty authentic. This is the first Vapiano I have ever been to (there is one off Oxford Circus in London) and I mostly wanted to try it for novelty reasons. I think I was probably unwise in hoping for a totally Italian food experience where clearly, modifications were made to suit local quirks eg curried duck pasta! All in all, I enjoyed the food well enough and satisfied my curiosity about their unusual service format. If I go again I would go for their pizzas.

I like the idea of having your food freshly prepared in front of me, or being asked about the type of pasta, how much garlic and chili I’d like, and I wouldn’t mind standing in line for it — if I found a place to sit down afterwards.
During lunch hours it is almost impossible to find a place for more than one. Everywhere people without food or drinks are occupying seats waiting for the others arriving with the orders. While they’re waiting you could’ve finished your meal, instead you walk around until your food is almost cold.
The food is really nice (for the price), but it can be very frustrating. Come here in unusual hours or just by yourself and you’ll be fine, otherwise I recommend going somewhere else.

It’s just fine. They make great pizza’s.
