One of the things I love about Germany, is the culture of reuse and repair. It really surprised me when I moved here that, you could repair most things and, bring them back to life. This is one of those places. Shoes go in here and, come back looking young and refreshed and, ready to take on the world ;-))
They have a repair shop and also a resident shoemaker. They do have a separate store for buying and fitting shoes (well I believe it belongs to the same people) and the repair shop. I have only ever used the repair shop and will check out the retail shop another time.
I have been here a few times and their service is excellent. The prices are a bit high, however, for the quality of work it’s worth it. I recently had two pairs of soles repaired and redone and, I think the sole will last longer than the shoe;-))
It’s in my neighborhood and I use it often. It’s nostalgic for me as, shops like this were common in India, growing up, and being able to do this here is excellent :-))

Nachdem ich bei einigen unfähigen Schuhmachern in der Stadt war, bin ich wirklich froh diesen Laden gefunden zu haben. Selbst meine hoffnungslosen Fälle (an denen andere sich schon kaputt reagiert hatten, hat er wieder hin bekommen.

Eigentlich träume ich ja davon, das eine, perfekte Paar Schuhe zu haben, nichts weiter. Das würde ich dann so gut pflegen, dass es eine Ewigkeit und viele Meilen mit mir durchstehen würde. Idealerweise käme es von Paul Harnden Shoemakers — nein, noch besser, ich hätte es selbst gemacht!
Da ich aber bislang nur lauter Alternativen zum einen, perfekten Paar Schuhe gefunden habe und obendrein in der Realität oft recht nachlässig, mit dem was ich an den Füssen trage, bin ich nicht selten auf eine gute Schuhwerkstatt angewiesen.
Die Schuhmanufaktur ist so eine. Hier wird man gut beraten und lernt auch, wie man im Idealfall mit seinen Schuhen umzugehen hat, möchte man sie sich lang erhalten. Und eines Tages lerne ich hier vielleicht auch, mein eigenes Paar zu schustern, wer weiss. Lust hätte ich!

Schlicht der beste Schuhmacher, denn ich kennen — in Qualität, Preis, Zuverlässigkeit, kreativer Problemlösung und Nettigkeit. Punkt.
Ach ja: Handgefertige Schuhe schicker Manufakturen gibt’s da auch. Sehen seeeeehr vornehm aus. Kann ich aber nur optisch beurteilen.
