another awesome speakeasy bar that we found during our stay in Hong Kong! with the help of Unilocal and the internet, it wasnt too hard to find this place — although we were unsure at first since we had to walk a little bit down a dark alley off the main street haha. we did make a reservation prior to showing up and i have to say that the customer service at 001 was exceptional in helping me with that! they usually take reservations via phone, but i didn’t have a working phone so i sent them a facebook message and replied almost immediately! i was able to communicate and set my date/time up that way and it was totally appreciated and awesome! we came here for a post dinner drink around 8pm on a friday and while there were a few tables of patrons, it was empty for the most part. the whole vibe of the bar is just really cool — dark and trendy but also low-key haha. had to order their earl grey martini while here(and to compare it to quinary’s caviar one haha) and i have to say that this drink was so good! light tea flavor and not overpowering made it really easy to drink. just cant help it that i love me a good speakeasy, craft cocktail bar. while our 2 drinks weren’t cheap at $ 40USD, i loved everything about 001 and would definitely recommend coming here to start or finish your evening in HK!

Love the vibe of this place, speakeasy, dim lights, great ambiance. I came here with my boyfriend for the first time recently, it wasn’t too hard to find. This is a whisky bar, and offers well made cocktails. I ordered the peach blossom, which is a scotch cocktail, and my bf ordered the laphroaig project. The service was great, staff were very attentive and polite, and we felt like we had our own privacy he whole time. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience and this is one of my favourite places for drinks.

Very mysterious entrance. Great selection of drinks. Courteous service. Great ambience. Very intimate setting. Dimly lit, just enough to see the people that you are with. Would definitely come back again.

Fun to find. Thoughtfully creative drinks. All unbelievably sweet. Maybe stop for one on your way or from somewhere else.

This spot was dead on in terms of what I was expecting. Fancy décor, super professional employees, a discreet entrance, perfect environment and music, amazing drinks. Also, that grilled cheese is no lie. Divine. Many emotions, few words. That’s how boss this place was.

Two friends and I paid a visit to 001 over a year ago on a trip to Hong Kong, but I figure with today’s launch of Unilocal on this little island in the south seas, a review now is as good as any. I won’t tell you how to find the entrance, because that’s half the fun(and it’s explained in full detail on like, a million blogs), but it does take a little sleuthing. After descending the first staircase into darkness, I remember being greeted by a fairly roomy interior. The bar itself is the most brightly lit corner of the floor, with an ambient glow that fuses the spectrum of spirits and ‘queurs on the wall. I remember chesterfield-style, tailored tufting on the seating, and old wood trim throughout. Drinks were solid. Spirituous and classic.

Down Graham Street, right near the Central market and in the heart of Hong Kong — you could easily miss the large black mysterious door of this old school speakeasy«001». The lion knocker lit by a single spotlight and a large, rather oppressive camera should point you in the right direction though. You ring the doorbell and a host will take you down into the bar. Of course, this depends on whether you have a reservation or are dressed to the nines. They operate a strictly no camera policy as in keeping the anonymity of their brand and several of their A-list clients. Frankly I along with the rest of 001’s devoted patrons would like it to stay that way. Once you’ve passed the test(so to speak) you descend into the gorgeous bar. The décor has a very 1930s Shanghai feel. Ordering classic cocktails is a must — as they are some of the best in town. they also have bespoke mixes which change regularly. Their short food menu is perfect for groups — all sharing plates(though perhaps a little small but who said you were here for the food anyway?) Oh and their Mac & Cheese(at least when I went — word on the street is they no longer serve this american staple) is beyond. Remember to make a booking far in advance this place gets full capacity quick(not full to the point of bursting mind you, but enough so that you have a great conversation, cool cocktails and nibbles before heading back into reality…)
