Hey Beijing. The puberty of one’s LKF nightlife. It is where people started clubbing when they were young, and moved on after they’ve learned their way to other clubs. The whole Magnum Group, consists of Beijing Club, Magnum, Dizzi, and Zentral are pretty consistent. They are groomed, but for younger kids. Think this is the reputation they are getting and happy to stay at, while for older crowd(i.e. me) tend to go less and less to these spots. And for Beijing, there is one particular twist that keeps it running for years. This is one of the only major clubs in LKF you can buy your way in. Play, the old Prive, Bungalow, Levels, the rest of the Magnum Group, etc. are all pretty strict with their door policy, and their bouncers don’t flick around. In Beijing, as long as you are above 18, well-dressed, line up and pay your entrance fee(whatever HKD$ 300-ish), you are in. Great for the kids who want the instance access to a club, not so good for quality control. And as I mentioned, the club per se isn’t that bad. It’s pitch dark most of the time. And the set up is quite confusing. One main bars and a satellite bar, a stair leads up to second level, with a bar usually doesn’t open, a door lead to outdoor seating, and another stair that leads to the third story usually reserved for private parties. It’s usually over-crowded, and when it’s not, it is usually quite underwhelming. So, two evils. So yeah, for whatever I meet a «new friend» saying they are going to Beijing, I’d know we are not from the same generation. Which is one of the only good things about the club — it keeps all the kids in place.
