My family comes through here every time we stop through Hong Kong. We go for the salmon belly sashimi, interesting rice dishes and the hot pot. I love to say to the giant fish in the tank who has been there for years.

YUMMY. Good view + good food+ good service. I love their variety of soup bases which makes them very cool since America have all the boring stuff.

This is one of the better restaurant in HK with a view from the 23rd floor looking across to Central and good food. This is a hot pot restaurant with more quality ingredients to choose from. It is a place to impress your visitors over food from oversea. The service is decent. My favorite is the crispy slices of fresh water fish. I don’t know the actual name in English. And, the fish ball and dark pork are also excellent. However, the cutter fish ball and crispy tofu skin(long curl yellow looking tofu skin) are overrated. I would visit this restaurant again. Note: This is not a AUCE.

For our CNY meal while in Hong Kong, the fam and I decided to hit up Budaoweng for some hot pot goodness. This was definitely a change from the other more casual(think streetside, hole in the wall) eateries that we’ve dined at throughout the rest of our trip. Budaoweng is much a much more upscale joint, located on a high floor in the iSquare mall and boasts gorgeous panoramic views of the harbor. Tom Yum broth is my go to, and the one at Budaoweng is my shizz. The red, savory, tangy broth here is loaded up with generous bunches of coriander and huge prawns and clams. The broth is perfectly seasoned, and I would be happy with a huge pot of this alone with some rice. The menu features a ton of other items that you can select to toss into your hot pot, ranging from fresh veggies, meats, seafood and dumplings. We decided to order a platter of marbled beef, a mix of veggies, tofu, meatballs, noodles, and a platter of seafood. They definitely DO try to upsell you hard here, and the seafood platter was a result of that. The seafood was nice and fresh, but at almost 800HKD, such seafood is almost shamefully wasted in my opinion if you’re only throwing it into a pot to be simmered into oblivion. The portion of marbled beef was generous, and the cuts were thick and the meat was extremely tender. The veggie mix was especially fresh, and they offered a very good selection including lettuce, mushrooms, bok choi and watercress. Tofu and noodles were standard. I wasn’t impressed at all by the meatballs. Skip that and order another platter of meat instead. I know better than to complain about service in Hong Kong, but for a restaurant that seems to be striving for upscale… The service here is anything but. For me, this is what made the meal just an average one. We came during an odd hour(in between lunch and dinner) so the restaurant wasn’t especially busy, but we still had a hard time flagging down our server and there was a mix up with some of the items we ordered. As mentioned, the servers do push their seafood as well. In the middle of the meal, they took away our sauce/garnishes for some reason and put it on an empty table. When we tried to retrieve it ourselves, someone came by and insisted on carrying it for us. Extremely awkward.

What can I say? One of my favorite spots for hotpot. Good for: bringing out of town guests(for the view of Victoria Harbor during dinner) Food: The food quality is really high here and tastes very fresh. Some of my favorite things to order here are the scallops, fish, fried fish skin, beef(machine cut version seems fine), and frozen tofu. There are many other things here, but does depend on your preference. They also offer complimentary dessert, which is nice. Sometimes it’s a mix of(herbal) jello(made with flowers) and/or fruit, which varies with whatever they feel like that day. Best to make a reservation beforehand as it does get quite busy. Available: VIP rooms for booking Many times they have tried to offered me seafood and sashimi, but figuring I come for hotpot, I wanted to focus on hotpot. Not sure if it is worth the premium price that they are charging for some of the seafood they are offering. They are also quite pushy about it, and have said some things like, «Since you are visiting and are splurging for a meal, you should get the seafood.» I don’t like being pushed like that, nor feel like my visitors should be put in such a position, and don’t like those sales tactics. For that reason, they lose one star from me.

Excellent service. Soft drink and alcohol included. They bring the raw food and you cook it in soup broth. Seafood, meats, veges and noodles provided. Air con is blowing cold to keep everyone cool. We had a table with two cooking pots for 14 people. Fast service. We had a vegetarian on the other side of the table. So we kept one of the hot pots vegetarian only. This worked very well as he only ate vegetables, tofu and noodles. The others could cook their fish, meats and other assorted seafood in the non vegetarian pot. Very enjoyable and fun for kids if they want to cook their food. Have to be supervised closely as the hot pot is boiling hot with tasty broth so make sure they don’t burn. Alcoholic beverages such as beer included in the package.
