I actually came here as a back up solution; my wife had wanted sushi but that wasn’t to be when the queue for the sushi place at Elements just became ridiculous. I was hungry, I was getting edgy and with a screaming baby it was just not a good place to stick around any more. So we headed off thinking we would walk into any place with a table and voila– that’s how we got here. Café Deco is a familiar sight to me– they have bars, restaurants and anyone who has been in Hong Kong for a bit would know that they are a chain. However, this one was a little bit different when I noticed the name«pizzeria» at the end of it. Being a pizza lover myself I actually ended being more happy than if I were at the other place. We had ordered a starter, a Caesar salad and a pepperoni pizza. The scallops for starters was a gem, with the scallops going perfectly with the ham’s more savory taste. the Caesar salad was ok– nothing out of the ordinary but I guess we all need some greens in a meal like this. The pizza? I guess I liked it because it was oven baked but in our case it was a just a tad too salty– not to the point its no edible but the flavor was just a bit too much– a bit like having parma ham without the melon. It might have been the fact that there wasn’t actually much sauce on it hence it did feel like having pepperoni biscuits. Thinking back this is the stuff they serve back in Italy anyways, just that I’m not too sure whether this is the genuine flavor. In all? I enjoyed it very, and I will certainly go back again to see if that pizza was just a one off thing.

Knowing Wildfire was closed was such a huge disappointment for me to say the least. I had plans to go visit Wildfire with my friends and we realized it had closed upon arrival. Instead, there was this new restaurant called Café Deco Pizzeria so we gave it a go. The décor was quite similar to Wildfire but thankfully without the shimmering bright red colour now. It was rather stylish with hard wooden tables and with a bar section(of course) However it was not that spacious and it might prove to be difficult to move around the restaurant. Anyhow, we were seated and handed menus. Basically there were so many different options of food you would have expected from a pizzeria: salad, pasta, pizza, etc. As this was after all a pizzeria, it would be a fool not to have tried one of its pizzas here. Actually I would say the pizzas were kind of … experimental, I mean, they were sort of creative and I would not say it was a bad thing but it was definitely fresh for my friends and me. We ordered smoke salmon pizza and the wasabi chicken pizza. To our surprise, we were all very pleased with the Wasabi Chicken Pizza as it was not like other pizzas we had tried before. If you are a pizza-lover, this place certainly gives you more than what you expect. Come have a go at this.
