In a word — original beers for fair prices. If you’re too scared to try(why?) there are imported beers too Longer version(for the brave) — we’ve arrived here on a laid back mid-week evening. This was the busiest place around the area, and the latest one open as it seems most of them were rushing to close. When we walked in it was already«last call» so we had to order rather quick — got the cider. The service was good but it was showing they really want to close and leave. The face I got from the bartender while asking for wifi after last call was priceless. Overall though it was a really fun bar and the beer choice is really endless, and it was pretty much the only bar around the mid-levels that had people in it, which is a really big plus in the middle of the week.

Craft Brew & Co. Seriously. Get your act together. I walked in at 8pm and tried to order a stout. After a few minutes of standing at the bar, I realized that my lack of drink wasn’t because it was busy, it was because I just was not being served. I politely asked again. One server bantered with the other and then I was told the tap was not working. But I just saw the stout I wanted coming out of it in another glass you were filling… ok, too much head, I get it. So pour and let it settle. Yes, I’ll wait. Another guy orders the same. Much later, here comes mine. I ordered a full pint. What they bring me is a half-pint. Hum… The other guy’s never even comes. When he asks, he’s told they’re «out». Then they bring me a receipt for a half pint of some other beer. I say it’s not my receipt and they look at me blankly. I didn’t order a half of the IPA. So why is this receipt for that? Because all halves are $ 48 and I ordered a half so it doesn’t matter what the receipt says, they tell me. I didn’t order a half. I ordered a full pint of the stout. A pint is $ 68, only $ 20 more than a half. Two halves together make a whole, which is what I ordered. Oh, I want to buy another half-pint? No. I want the other half of my original order and I don’t intend to pay $ 96 for two halves that together should have cost me $ 68. Finally, we’re getting somewhere. I’m apologized to, promised a full pint in addition to the half I was given«by mistake», and all for the original price. $ 68. I pay. And then a server brings me a half pint of the stout 10 minutes later. And I give up. Behind the bar was a tangle of hoses and the walls are empty shells where tiles used to be. One magazine review called it «a little industrial». I call it a prolonged soft opening/get-the-expats-in-here-spending-asap. Well, part of a soft opening is figuring out what to improve. Here are some things that irked me. — Running out of beers on a Saturday at 9 — Surly staff — Tap handles not working — Promising a discount because you messed up and then not giving one — Dripping air conditioners indoors — Boss sitting right there at a table letting all of this happen under his nose Nah, I won’t be back. HK isn’t *that* much of a beer desert.

I love the openness of Craft Brew. The restaurant opens up to the street and has a really relaxed vibe. They also have a nice selection of craft beers. There’s something for everyone. I had the Fruli, which is a strawberry beer. I thought it was light and refreshing. Their food is also really unique. They serve a variety of chicken wings, bratwursts, and burgers. I didn’t try any of the food, but it sure did look good. The restaurant itself is a little out of the way though and it’s not particularly close to an MTR station. The service is also a little bit slow, but I think that’s because we arrived as a really big party and it was overwhelming for them to serve that many people at once. The slower service was a good chance for us to hangout and catch up though.
