We came here after visiting the Big Buddah. The bus takes you to this little town — «Tai Po»(I think), and once you get off, this restaurant is right next to the bus terminal. In our case, they«ran out» of some of the dishes so they couldn’t cook it. Well, that’s all right. We had tasted 2 different curries(with rice) and they were both very yummy-flavourful. The soup was just… well.soup.skip the soup. The salad was fresh, but I could make my own… So, the only recommendation I could give is: skip everything else and just have the curry. Enjoy!

I could never quite imagine what Nepalese food would look or taste like. For some reason or another I imagined meats less commonly used, for example wild deer(Could have been influenced by the restaurant’s name!). The Deer Horn, in Mui Wo, opened my eyes to the Nepalese cuisine. I probably shouldn’t have been surprised when it was reveled to be a mixture of Indian from the south and Chinese from the north, albeit with their own twist on things. I’ve been twice now to this dimly lit, authentic-looking restaurant, and, believe it or not, I ordered a pasta and a risotto during those visits. I just wasn’t attracted to the curries or dumplings on the other pages of the menu. I knew I was taking a risk by ordering a dish that some might deem more Italian than Nepalese but why not? Spaghetti bolognaise… delicious. I consider myself quite an expert on the traditional Spag-Bowl, known on occasion to rustle it up myself, and this one, with it’s red wine bolognaise sauce, knocked the ball out the park. Once again, delicious. The second time I ordered a chicken risotto with creamy mushroom sauce. Without tasting it I was certain it was just as good, if not better, than the spag-bowl. A magician? You ask, not quite. I left to the bathroom just as it was arriving, when I got back my girlfriend had eaten a quarter of it while leaving her plate of dumplings untouched. What started out as a little taste turned into«We’re sharing right? Good. Here’s a dumpling.» Thanks. The sauce was a little bit too rich for my taste but that didn’t stop me from finishing every last bit of it. I’d go back tomorrow for lunch if I wasn’t busy looking for more places to review!
