Good food, but for the price and hype, I was underwhelmed. I had truffle pork Xiao Long Bao(dumplings), spicy shrimp and pork dumplings, water spinach, and hot and sour soup. Total ~400HKD Spicy shrimp were the clear winner. I would give 5 stars if that’s all I had. The pricey(180) truffle dumplings were no tastier than most $ 0.50 pork dumplings I’ve had in SF china town. Water spinach was quite good. Hot and sour soup was a major let down: bland, neither hot nor sour! Perhaps a more refined palette would enjoy this place more. But if you’re looking for the rich umami flavor I associate with Asian food, there are better(and cheaper) options.

Everytime I go back visit, I also try this place lol everything is good. Authentic dim sum. Try the Xiao long bao/garlic-fried seashell. These dishes won’t disappoint you. The ones in mainland China /Taiwan aren’t bad, either. Now San Jose is gonna have one soon. Can’t wait to try it out!

I ate at the same restaurant in Causeway Bay before, but because dim sum are so irresistible, I couldn’t pass by the chance to try this location. Lettuce with garlic: it’s young lettuce leaves that are similar to romaine lettuce but finer. No wonder why it was cheaper than the other greens on the menu. I like to order some greens to accompany the dumplings and buns. Noodles with spicy oil: the oil isn’t very spicy but wow for the taste! It is that great mixed with the noodles. I like to add some lettuce in the bowl for some spiciness. I even poured some noodle sauce into the steamed bun. :D That sauce is good on everything! I had to have some dumplings and buns for dim sum: Mushroom steamed dumplings: bean thread noodle, chives, mushrooms, tofu. Mushroom steamed bun: it’s one bun. The stuffing is the same as the mushroom dumplings. This restaurant is located inside a mall. I prefer the location in Causeway Bay, which feels like a fine dining restaurant. However, this place has restrooms inside the restaurant.

Solid place for Xiao Long Bao but honestly a bit overhyped and overpriced. I say this just because I’ve been to plenty of great dim sum places that charge less than a dollar(USD) per soup dumpling and don’t have hour-long waits. I have nothing but good things to say about the quality of the food. The XLB was really nicely wrapped and didn’t fall apart until it entered my mouth. There was plenty of soup and it was served at the perfect temperature so I wouldn’t burn my tongue. I also ordered the beef & shimp siu mai and the wonton soup, both delicious as well. If you don’t mind the wait, definitely come give this place a shot. I was fortunate enough to be visiting alone(Maybe unfortunate?) so I got seated at a communal table within 5 minutes.

So far the best dim sum I’ve tried in Hong Kong. Ordered the Spicy cucumber with chili and garlic, Steamed pork dumplings(xialongbao), Pan-fried shrimp & pork dumplings, Noodle tossed with scallion, Noodle with special spicy sauce of the house and Hot & sour soup. Everything tasted amazing! I liked the crusty pan-fried dumplings with shrimp and pork. Also loved the almost burnt scallions in soy sauce that topped the noodle dish. Even the sautéed spinach with garlic was amazing! The hot & sour soup is definitely not for everyone since the consistency is a bit thick and almost slimy. But tasted delicious and as a fan of sour I fell for it. The jasmine tea served to the table was a perfectly mild beverage to balance your taste buds between the dishes. I’d stick to this and not ruin the tastes with mainstream Asian bear like Tsingtao.

Great food, friendly service. I highly recommend their almond custard dessert, dumplings, and chicken soup. Did not experience a wait when we arrived at 9:30 at night.

This place never disappoints me. We are a Din Tai Fun lovers and have tried their locations all over the world like Korea, Japan, Singapore, ShangHai, Taipei, and of course some of their locations in US. But I have to say this is still my favorite. First of all, even though there are always a lot of people but since the place is so big, the wait is less than 20 mins. Unless US locations, usually the wait is over an hour . We love their taro dumplings for dessert. We come here every time we visit Hong Kong !

The service here isn’t quite up to snuff with the Taipei location, but he food is just as good! Our favorites were the fried rice and beef brisket noodle soup. We ordered several dishes and although the meal was a little more expensive than a typical HK lunch, the quality of food and service compared to other similar HK eateries made it worth it in my opinion. I would definitely recommend checking out this or any other one of their locations in HK if you have a chance.

Came here for dinner on our first night in Hong Kong and loved it! The dumplings were all amazing and delicious– we ordered several different kinds and none disappointed. Atmosphere was awesome– beautiful décor. Service was outstanding– they checked on us so many times and were so courteous.

Came here around 7:30 and got seated within 15 minutes! I was pretty surprised considering I had to wait over an hour at the Seattle branch. They have a system where they give you a receipt and they’ll display your number when it’s your turn to be seated. Service /5 Our server was super sweet and attentive. She made us feel like we were well taken care of. Food /4 We ordered the pork xiao long bao, spicy shrimp wontons, kale, and pork buns but were too full to even touch them so we just took them back to the hotel. Atmosphere /4 Nice and clean, could be more modern.

I love love love Din Tai Fung, and this location is particularly good. No reservations, pre order while you wait up till an hour on peak times(or go early or off peak to avoid the wait. It has a Michelin Star — unique for such a casual place. The Xiao Long Bao(soup dumplings) are not replicated anywhere as well as they do it at DTF. Pour your vinegar sauce into the ginger threads, dunk, and chow them down(be sure to let them cool for a minute) They have beer and wine, and great steamed veggies and soups. They also have traditional Cantonese if that is your thing(intestine and such) I went in here by myself last weekend and I was very hungry and placed my order. I knew I overdid it when the server said«But you are only one person?» but I didn’t care because I can’t get this at home. Yum!

We had the original and chicken soup dumpling, the regular dumpling which still had quite a bit of soup in it although the picture says otherwise. We also had the cold stir fried beans, don’t really recommend this because this kind of dish imo is better hot. Also had their spicy dumplings which weren’t spicy at all but it was good. Overall a good restaurant and they open late!

So Din Tai Fung was a surprise. We had been going through Hong Kong trying noodle shops in back alleys and places that looked like they were built hundreds of years ago(and probably were). So I kind of expected the same when I heard of an amazing spot that did xiao long baos. Should have checked the pictures, because I was not sure I was in the right place. But I was. DTF looks like an upscale hotel-esq restaurant. It’s giant and modern and, most of all, when were were dying of heat it had air conditioning. Oh my yes. But better than all of that were the xiao long baos which were, and I say this honestly, some of the best I’ve ever had in my life. They came in all shapes and sizes and flavours and my god, biting into one and having all the sauce explode inside your mouth. Amazing. Now, this air conditioned niceness is not cheap. You will pay for the delicious. But it is delicious and not to be missed. Go here. Eat all the things. Do it now.

I really enjoy this place in Orange County, so was very excited when a girl who was showing us around Hong Kong recommended that we come here for dinner. I loved the pork and vegetable dumplings and two noodle dishes — one with spicy sauce and one with peanut sauce. There is also the cutest dumpling head man at the front of the restaurant! I think in general the dishes here were spicier on their own than at my local DTF, which made me happy. I also liked how there was an instruction sheet at the table for how to enjoy the soup dumplings. That definitely doesn’t exist at the one that I normally go to!

In a word — heavenly and simple cucumber salad, besides that? Don’t really get the fuss about this place. Longer version(for the brave) — after hearing about this place from so many people, one must come in and give it a try! So I went to the one inside silvercord shopping center, which was easier to find than I what I thought. Got a nice table and started exploring the menu — for seafood and pork lovers this place is a dim sum heaven… for others(a.i — me)? Not really. The service is outstanding — it was shocking to see how good this can get. From the moment you walk in until the moment you leave. Loved every second. So you check out the menu and then mark the dishes you feel like having on a paper handed to you, once you’re done, it’s picked up and then returned to you in case you feel like adding some more dishes… And wait. It didn’t take too long until dishes started piling up on people’s tables. Also on mine. 106 — cucumber salad, no idea what they do to this cucumbers but this is amazing. Should’ve ordered another one! 212⁄605 — had a noodle dish in spicy sauce and veggie mushroom dim sum. They were both ok. The mushroom dim sum was even kind of disappointing — the dumpling itself was pretty good but the filling had more greens inside, and the mushrooms had a rubbery texture. Had only 4 out of the 6 that were served, and even that was a struggle. To sum it all up — you should check it out, but this is no place for picky ones!

As someone whose FAVORITE food in the world is soup dumplings(小籠包), I knew I had to give Din Tai Fung a serious visit. And I did, with 6 other friends on a weekday night. We ordered one basket(籠) of soup dumplings for everyone, as well as siu mai, wonton, and water spinach. All of them tasted great! That said, however, I feel that the price charged was a bit too high(58HKD for a basket of soup dumplings; 110HKD for the vegetable dish). I’ve had better soup dumplings in Shanghai at a significantly lower price — of course, I can’t directly compare HK soup dumplings to those at Shanghai. Din Tai Fung was a nice dining environment, and my friends and I enjoyed our meal. If there is one thing that might hold us back from visiting again, it would be the prices.

service here is the best… cant speak of other HK locations but compared to DTF in Taiwan, China, Thailand and the US… this place rocks the food is mediocre at best and a bit overpricedfor the portion/quality … i think the taiwan branches are more delicious the wait might look a bit intimidating but it is in fact not that bad at all!

Honestly, I don’t know what’s the hype about Din Tai Fung. I love my xiao long bao, but this place is incredibly overhyped. 58HKD for 6 pieces of xiao long bao. Think about it. Yes. Quality of xiao long bao makes up for the cost, right? From the thin wrap, to the quality meat, to the light soup inside, and the consistency. Unfortunately, my tastebuds prefer the soup a little more flavorful. You want to talk about flavor, right? Go ahead and dip it in vinegar and ginger. That totally makes up the whole xiao long bao flavor. Besides xiao long bao, I ate other things here, and it’s pretty darn good. I liked the… Spicy dumplings. I don’t remember what’s it called, but it’s yummy. And for sure, service was great. Always refilling tea, helped switched bowls when it’s too saucy, and very attentive. Thus, 4 stars. I prefer hole-in-a-wall places besides Din Tai Fung for xiao long bao though. Sorry Din Tai Fung. Maybe I just have to go to Taiwan to really enjoy you.

The first 2 times I went to Din Tai Fung, each time I drove one hour from hotel to get to the restaurant. Then put my name on waitlist for a table, and waited another hour to be seated.(They do not take reservations) I did this twice willingly. The place is so popular. So when I was in Hong Kong, I made a point to dine at Din Tai Fung for our first dinner. We arrived early for dinner, about 5:45pm. No lines, plenty of tables. I noticed their general décor is much fancier than the counterparts in Southern Cal. We had a personal waitress who kept our tea cups full and served all our dishes to the table. We were not used to so much attention. In fact, my kids were uncomfortable with it and wouldn’t engage in regular conversations. DTF uses thin wrappers for their dumplings. I compared with Maxim Restaurant from earlier of that same day. It is just a perfect dumpling with best taste and balance of meat, juice, and wrapper. Ahh, but they can even outdo themselves with new item, Crab Egg with Pork Dumpling. The Crab Eggs make a wonderful compliment. In California the female Dungeness crabs which have eggs are required to release back to sustain as next generation. So maybe this dish will not appear in Cali. We also love their famous Taro Dumpling. No other place offers this, I ask everywhere we go. We did a lot of walking from getting lost in finding this place. Dinner was expensive, plus we had time crunch for a pre-booked night cruise afterwards, so I was a bit stressed out. But it was worth the visit/dinning.
