This is a good place for some legitimate dim sum when you hang out at this mall. Waiting time was a lit bit long for a weekend lunch. We waited about 25mins to get seated. Service was a bit slow too, i.e. we wrote on the card to order but no one came to check us until we asked. Food came kinda slow too. But everything we ordered tasted good, including the complimentary assorted beans. Rice roll: soft and chewy, not soggy, legit. Egg custard bun: one of the best I’ve had, as it stated on the menu«Must-Order», sooooo yummy. Fun guo: better than the ones I had in the US, I mean that part is for sure, but still, it tasted very good. Jian Dui/Sweet fried sesame ball: It came to our table but we didn’t order it, so we assumed it was on the house and it tasted great!!! Roasted goose: another item that this place is famous for. Some beef pastry: crispy and tasty Overall, food is really good here. You should try if you’re not on the fly.

i don’t think i ever have bad experience here, it just sometime if you go during the weekend, then the services can get a bit slow. They have a variety of affordable disum and combo, i think i tried all of them.

My mother and I were walking around at the outlet mall in Tung Chung when we decided that we were a little hungry. Actually, we kind of wanted to sit down more so than we actually wanted to eat, but anyway, we passed by Federal Palace, told them table for two and waited till our number was called. While I was just waiting outside near the entrance, I noticed the restaurant had a strange smell. I had no idea what it was, and it wasn’t an overwhelming smell but it was definitely noticeable. It wasn’t until I walked in that I realized the smell was coming from the seafood tanks at the side. The smell aside, this is your traditional Chinese restaurant complete with big bowls and a pot of hot water given to you the minute you sit down so you can rinse your cutlery. I noticed that there was a bit of grime on my plate — it was a gross pale colour, and I knew no amount of rinsing would make that go away, and even if it did I would want a new plate anyway. So, not the best first impression made. The food was actually better than I thought it would be. We only ordered three dishes — the steamed cuttlefish in curry sauce, deep fried bean curd sheet rolls with shrimp, and shrimp dumplings. The cuttlefish and the dumplings were both not bad, and the dumplings were actually pretty big. The fried bean curd sheet rolls were nice and crispy, but quite oily — you could tell because the sheet below was almost completely soaked through with oil. Overall, the food and service were both all right, but the gunk on my plate and the smell from the seafood tanks really put me off. I’m struggling between giving this two or three stars, since there’s no in between, but I guess I’ll bump it up to three because the food is pretty affordable.
