Our group of friends like weekend free flow brunch, but Giando didn’t meet up with our expectations.
It’s not really their fault per se to locate at a fairly remote place in Admiralty/​Wanchai, and I do like the pier a lot back in the days. But our friends who looked up the restaurant at anywhere other than Unilocal had a hard time to find the right direction. But since the restaurant required everyone who wanted to order free flow package to order at the same, and before a certain time, it became really hard to start the party while we waited for the late coming friends.
Food was okay. Nothing could really fill your stomach full other than the ham, so you are bound to order the main couse came as one of the package options.
They were understaffed but I could imagine it’s because they had a full house. But we needed some time to get all our main courses, drink refills, water, etc. At one point, I’d rather serve my table water myself. And also, they limited the free flow to 2 hours.
But the last straw was the cake charge. We bought our cake for the birthday girl, and were told that they’d charge $ 35 PER HEAD for it. It’s alright for a table for 2, but we have a table of 14 people. So do the math, it doesn’t make sense. I had talked to the managers a couple of times and they didn’t seem to get it, nor think of making an exemption for someone’s birthday.
So yeah, I’ve definitely experienced somewhere better.
