Golf at The Hong Kong Golf Club in summer can be a trying experience with the temperature in the mid 30s C and humidity near 100%! But it becomes tolerable if you have a golf cart to drive around. This is a members club. It has reciprocal arrangements with a large number of golf clubs around the world so you can get a game as a reciprocal member. I believe that the public can also play on certain days, having paid the appropriate fee.
I have played on all 3 courses, The Old Course, The New Course and the Eden Course. The Hong Kong Golf Open is held in this club. Over all the courses play differently, with bunkers to catch your errant shots and some water. It is not particularly challenging. Carts (buggies) are allowed on certain courses at certain times only. Caddies with different experience are also available.
Before the game, it is well worth having a meal at the restaurant. The helpings are generous. Love the Hainan chicken rice. The barbecue pork is something to die for!
After the game have a drink either in the air conditioned club house or in the verandah. The really nice thing about this club is the cold face towel for the players at the half way house and clubhouse. I wish more clubs would introduce this.
