This is a private members club. We had dinner at the Chinese Restaurant. The food here is consistently good. The appetisers of 100 yr old egg and ginger was perfect. We had roast duck and the barbecue pork which were excellent. I liked the sliced beef cooked with bitter gourd. I found the hot pot chicken«Sam Pui Kai» pretty ordinary. The poached«Choi Sum» in superior soup was just right. Pigeon breast stir fried with bitter gourd was also very good. Over all it was a very nice meal. The ambience and acoustics were good.

Certainly not the best golf club in the world, but when your world is resource contrained Hong Kong island, it works. I really like eating here, and it is also a great space for hosting an intimate dinner with friends or a large party of people.

This is a private club restaurant and obviously you need a member to accompany you if you would like to dine here. Since this is a private club and a lot of tables are available during lunch time between Monday to Friday(Saturday & Sunday usually fully booked, reservation is highly recommend during weekends). Food here actually is pretty good, they have regular set lunch and it only costs $ 165 Soup, main course, dessert & drinks. Regular promotions during night time like(BBQ Night, Steak Night or even Whole Lamb or roasted suckling pig).

First thing you need to know about the Fairway Grill is that the club is a member’s only venue and a member have to be at hand to sign the bill since all invoices are settled through an internal billing system direct to members. Back to the restaurant, Golf Club is one of the oldest clubs in Hong Kong so the décor is modern colonial style with lots of cream color walls and furniture. It is pretty generic but in a tasteful way. Like many of the old clubs(like The Hong Kong Club), most of the cutleries are antiques which also oozes a colonial charm. Although it is known as a grill but I was there for the weekend lunch and a buffet was on offer. The buffet, selection-wise is between a starter and a full buffet so you can either have it as a main meal or if you’re a big eater, choose to have it as a starter I ended up having the buffet and order the oxtail stew as main course. The buffet consists of your standard salad bar fair plus a selection of cheeses and specialty salad dishes(tomato mozzarella, Thai roast beef, German potato etc.). Overall it is well made and competent but nothing very exciting. The oxtail turned out to be a fantastic dish. Served in a cast iron pot, straight away you can smell the richness of the gravy with hints of celery and carrots. The meat was off the bone tender and the whole thing will be a perfect companion to plain rice, pasta etc. Service was friendly and efficient as many staff have been working at the club for years. So definitely worth a try if you know someone who is a member !!
