Have you ever tried Tsukemen before? Wait what? Okay, Tsukemen is Japanese for cold ramen dipping noodles. You know sometimes you go to a Vietnamese or Thai noodle place you can ask for cold noodles and pour the sweet and sour sauce on them? This is pretty similar but the different part is the broth is very condensed and it is boiling hot, giving you a rather contrast feeling when you dip the cold noodles in it. So there is one place which is pretty well-known located in North Point and I was determined to go check out the fuss last week. I believe I have been to too many authentic Japanese noodle places so I will skip the décor part… well, you know what to expect. So I sat down and checked out the menu, as expected, there were a few options to choose from: the broth is made of a type of fish called Bonito; as for the ramen you can choose if you prefer the thin or the thick one, personally I like it thin; as for the pork, you can pick one slice, 2 or 3 slices; and as of course you can have choose the toppings. It took maybe around 15 minutes to get the food ready. The menu was served separated with one bowl filled with hot broth and the other cold ramen noodles. The soup is really condensed already but you can also add like chili powder or various other things. After that, just simply grab a chunk of noodles with chopsticks and dip them in the soup. Before you know it, the cold noodles and the hot broth go so well together. One fun fact is that the seaweed comes with its logo, though I am sure it is edible but I left out the logo part as I still am not sure about this, but that is cute enough for sure. With the heat in summer, Tsukemen is a definitely choice to cool down a bit!
