Typical Hong Kong style restaurant. Nothing fancy. If you just want some food fast, come here. Otherwise, lots of other good choices around.

This seems to be the only cantonese«CHACHANTANG» restaurant at Discovery Bay and I was looking for French Toast after hiking from Mui Wo…

When people think dinner or lunch on DB they usually assume their wallet is going to take a hit. And for most of the restaurants that’s the case, but there are a few that provide an alternative for those on a budget. Island café is one of them. When I lived on Disco Bay I used to come to this place every time after the gym, without fail. The reason being is that I was able to get a high protein and high carb meal in one for around $ 50. And it tasted gooood, unlike some of those protein shakes nowadays! Most of the time I’d eat in, however, you can call ahead to order so when you arrive it’s already wrapped up and ready to go. I’m not that organised with my time! Their menu is splayed out against the wall offering local, Cantonese food with some Cantonese style Thai food in the mix. A quick note to the reader: the photos leading up to the restaurant look way better than the food does. I stick with the authentic Cantonese food, rice noodles with beef or chicken fried rice. Simple dishes that are hard to mess up as it’s usually simple things that work the best I find. The lady behind the counter is jolly person with whom I am able to joke with without offending. She hands me my number and I was patiently, brows furrowed in concentration. My Cantonese is not great but if I focus really hard I can pick out numbers in conversations — usual in occasions like this! The food is provided in generous servings. Before long the evidence of anything being there before has vanished, which probably has more to do with just coming from the gym than the quality of food.
