Juliette’s in Tin Hau. Question; is this where great bars go to die? Mrs L and I went there on a Saturday night, and it was quiet. Super quiet like the Mary Celeste, which is a shame as the venue is really nice. The bar itself is roomy, but has a cosy and intimate feel, especially at night, when the lights are low and the jazz is trickling out on the stereo. The drinks are plentiful, with a large variety of wines and spirits. Not great on the beer front, but this is after all a wine bar. The staff are also rather generous with the prawn cracker refills, so you won’t be lacking a snack with your G&T. Service is a bit slow, but maybe because there isn’t the impetus to move any faster with only two guests on a Saturday night. Looking around the bar, I get the feeling that this was once a standing room only venue, full of famous HK faces and slightly drunk millennials. However, now it seems a bit resigned to the annuls of history. Worst case scenario, there is wi-fi, so you could always surf and drink if you get bored at looking around.
