I don’t get what’s the hype about this restaurant. I went there a few days ago and was soooo sooo disappointed. Too high expectation I guess ? The tuna tartar tastes so bland and it’s not fresh. The only fresh thing on the plate was the cucumber that goes along with the tuna. I had the French onion soup and it tastes like water mixed with a lot of chicken powder and salt. I had to drink a lot of water afterwards because it makes me really thirsty after drinking it. The steak is so thin and dry yet it’s not cheap! I felt like I was having a cha chan teng level steak but ten times more expensive. The veggies were too oily that I couldn’t taste the flavor of the veggie at all! To be fair the crème brûlée and the panna cotta tasted really good(relatively speaking). The texture is really smooth and silky and the sweetness is just the right amount. The reason why I went there was because of the good reviews online yet I feel like I had wasted money and my time. The sad part is I am on diet and this was my cheat meal, I can’t believe I wasted my quota on this crap.

La Terrasse is a French restaurant located on Old Bailey Street which is just down from Caine Road. On the outside, the restaurant looks pretty tiny, and to be fair it’s definitely not huge on the inside but it’s bigger than it looks. My mother and I were here because they were doing a promotion on a set dinner here. Perhaps it was because it was dinner time, but the interior of the restaurant was rather dim, making the setting quite intimate and fit for a date. The waiters all spoke good English and were very polite. The moment we sat down, we were asked if wanted wine, sparking wine or a cocktail as a welcome drink — my mother and I both asked for the sparkling wine, which was brought to us immediately. As starters, we had French bread that we could eat with butter and garlic. The bread was good — it was firm and crispy on the outside, but soft on the inside. Assorted cold cuts and then followed — there were three different kinds of cheese and I don’t remember the names, though I believe one was camembert which I really liked. Some of the cold cuts were really salty though. For the soup, my mother opted for French onion while I went with the cream of mushroom. The cream of mushroom was great — very smooth and you could tell that they had made this from scratch. I tried a little of my mom’s French onion — I’m not a big fan of French onion soup, but I have to admit it was good. For the salad, I got the warm goat’s cheese salad with honey while my mother got the classic Caesar. I absolutely LOVED the goat cheese. This was my first time ever having goat cheese, and to my surprise I really liked it; it was creamy and strong in its flavor(in a good way). By then, I was pretty stuffed, and we hadn’t even gotten to the mains yet. Thankfully, they took their time to come, giving us time to breathe and take a break. After about fifteen minutes, my lamb chops and my mother’s grilled salmon arrived. My lamb chops were juicy and well marinated, although the portion was a little on the small side — but like I said, I was getting full, so I wasn’t complaining. My mother said her salmon was not too bad, but was a bit salty. And finally, our meals were ended off with crème brûlée and hot coffee. Unfortunately, the crème brûlée was the one letdown of the dinner — it was just incredibly sugary and way too sweet for my mother and I to stomach. Overall, I would definitely recommend La Terrasse. Although a French restaurant, besides the French bread and the cheese, it felt more like a general western restaurant, but on the whole the food was really good.
