I am a sucker for stationery and beauty knick knacks. Long after I finished school I still love to snoop through stationery stores looking for the latest writing instruments. My favorite pens are Japanese pens and often find that mainstream bookstores don’t keep up enough with the trends. So I like to go to Log-On to get my fix of cheap thrills. The section is brightly lit, with rows and rows of high quality stationery and cosmetics imported around the world, with the newest items placed in the center of the space. Bottomline: the myriad of Japanese pens!

Log On is kind of like a mini superstore — it sells everything from shampoo to stationery to bags. Its items are mostly imports from places like Japan, Korea and USA, so prices at Log On are towards the high end. There are some things available at Log On that I’ve never found anywhere else in HK though, so if you’re looking for something that no other place seems to sell, try Log On! One of my favorite things about Log On is that it’s very organized — I never really have a hard time looking for anything because the store is very well laid out. The staff are quite helpful as well; there have been a few times when something I want is not available at the moment, and the staff will offer to help me call up other Log Ons to see if it’s in stock there, and if so they would transfer it here. That’s quite helpful because for example, if what I want is only in stock at the Log On all the way at Tuen Mun, I don’t have to travel all the way there for it. Log On is also a great place to buy gifts for friends. In the past, I’ve bought things like photo frames and backpacks for people as birthday presents. Because they sell a lot of quirky novelty things at Log On, it’s wonderful for last minute gift shopping! I will warn though that there are many things at Log On that you can buy much cheaper elsewhere. For example, avoid buying stationery like pens or folders there. You can get the same things for MUCH cheaper at regular stationery shops!
