At least they don’t have the bollocks to call it pizza. The«flats» here run $ 100 each, and you can choose between a base of buckwheat(gluten free) or spelt(which has loads of gluten) which is sort of like choosing between eating a Brillo pad or cardboard. I kid… sort of. The Lennon«flat» is topped with za’atar(an Israeli or Palestinian spice mix depending on who you ask) flecked oil, spinach, avocado, grilled haloumi(which in this case was nubby and cheeky rather than lovely and sqeaky) and competently poached eggs. It’s essentially a tasty salad on top of vaguely cardboard tasting flat bread. At $ 100, it’s a filling meal for one and doesn’t taste half bad once you put some chili flakes on top. Given the mission statement of clean living and sustainability it’s also good for the soul, especially after you’ve thrown away $ 1000 in beer and behaved monstrously in LKF the night before. #expatlife Oh, and they serve an amazing Americano — rich, thick and dark(just the way I like my women… I kid. I prefer the skinny Asian type with daddy issues). I will return for another go at the«flats» and another cup of that fantastic coffee. PS. I’ve never seen a self service joint with so many waitstaff on hand. Seriously those guys must be really bored. Or maybe sustainability is really exhausting. Whatever it is, they can’t be bothered to walk 2 meters to deliver your food. Instead patrons take a buzzer and go up to the counter to receive the food. PPS. Even though you eat in, they still serve the food in take-away boxes. So much for sustainability bitches. PPPS. I am the Walrus.

I love their open flats here. It makes me feel like I’m eating pizza, but a much much healthier version. :) While their location is a bit more difficult to get to than their original Mana location and Mana Raw, it is still worth a visit. I would have to say if it were easier to get to, I’d certain make a stop here more often. For flats, I’d recommend trying ones with sunny side up eggs. Having the runny yolk run through your flat tastes great, and get their spelt flat instead of buckwheat. Buckwheat is way too thin and crispy so harder to eat with. Steven is super helpful and would be able to provide you recommendations. I’ve been craving their flat for a week. Must make a stop there soon.

Another day; another new Mana. And I for one am ecstatic about the Mana brand’s continuing expansion! So happy they’ve helped launch a movement here in Hong Kong; one centered on healthy yet delicious organic, vegetarian, vegan, and even raw(slow) fast food. The newest space is gorgeous — it’s an urban sanctuary of sorts, something you’d be more likely to find in perhaps Ubud, Bali. I recently came here with a colleague and being opening week, things weren’t running as smoothly as management had hoped. The menu is built around these open-face wraps and rather disastrously, the café ran out of the tortilla wrappers at high noon. Understandably, we were crushed… we had taken a taxi for the sole purpose of eating lunch at the new Mana outpost. Enter, the hero: the awesome manager actually mounted his motorbike and zipped on over to the other location to pick up wraps! And the day was saved. One young coconut and veggie wrap later, I felt satiated and restored. Though I do prefer the original wraps served at the flagship location, the open-face style wraps were definitely a nice change. See you soon!

Brought to you by the team from Mana Slow Food and Raw from Central, Mana Café is situated in POHO, one of my favourite area in Hong Kong, quiet, laid back and trendy. Mana Café is a good addition to the scenery. About the food, it follows the foot step of Mana, organic, gluten and everything free philosophy. They serve breakfast wraps in pizza box with poach eggs or fried eggs and added coffee. It is a good little place to chill with friends over the weekend. Price is obviously on the premium side.
