This is an all-you-can eat hot pot place. It has several soup base selection. The ingredients are reasonably fresh, but could improve with more selections. The sauces available were OK, but again could improve with more selections.

4 stars! One for each of the things that do it for me: cleanliness, food, price and«Will I come back?» No star for service. Ugh. Mou Mou Club is a Japanese shabu-shabu buffet restaurant. It is mostly self-service and there is an assortment of vegetables and sides to go with your thinly sliced meats. I had the Japanese Wagyu Beef All-You-Can-Eat set for HK$ 368+. This set comes with free flow everything. Japanese Wagyu beef, all kinds of seafood, chicken, pork… everything. The other sets you can order limits the type of meat is available to you. It took me almost 15 minutes to work this out with the waiter at the door, so forgive me if I want to share my HARD-EARNED knowledge! So! For example: For HK$ 368, you can have Japanese Wagyu Beef AND seafood and everything else. For HK$ 298, its Australian Wagyu Beef, no Japanese Wagyu, no seafood and YES to everything else. For HK$ 248, US Supreme Beef Short Rib, no Japanese Wagyu, no seafood, no Australian Wagyu and YES to everything else. For HK$ 178, US Supreme Imported Beef, no Japanese Wagyu, no seafood, no Australian Wagyu, no US Supreme Beef Short Rib and YES to everything else. For HK$ 158, US Imported Beef, no Japanese Wagyu, no seafood, no Australian Wagyu, no US Supreme Beef Short Rib, no US Supreme Imported Beef and YES to everything else. For HK$ 18 more, you can have unlimited Asahi beer too. There are 6 soup bases to choose from, and you get to choose 2. The pot is divided into 2 sections so you can cook your stuff in either one. The soup bases are: Seaweed Soup, Kimchi Soup, Katsuo Soup, Tomato Soup, Pork Base soup, Sweet Soy Soup. I chose the Pork Base Soup and Sweet Soy Soup. It’s really up to you how you want to cook and eat. But for health and safety, please remember to use separate chopsticks for raw and cooked food. That means, use one set for putting in the raw meat, and eat with another set of chopsticks. Also, erm, sorry to sound like a naggy mother: Let the soup boil up a little after you dump in a load of raw meat and vegetables, please? I like the variety of meats and sides offered. I like the attentive service staff. There is a time limit of 90 minutes from when you sit down to eat. But when I ate here, there was no crowd waiting for my table, so I was not asked to leave. I also like that you can get them to top-up your boiled down broth with extra soup(not just water). Definitely will come back!

The only thing I like about this place is the free flow of Asahi. Besides that this place is mediocre. They also refill your drained down broth with more broth. Usually these places will only give you water not broth! They use to offer Haagen Daz icecream, but I guess it switched to soft serve icecream. The beef and pork is alright, I mean I don’t even know whats the different tier. You get the cheap one, the medium pricey one and the US beef one. Honestly, it all seems the same to me. Well, nothing compare to the beef back home in Murica!

Mou Mou Club is the bee’s knees — or, well, actually, the cow’s grain fed meat, served in shabu shabu or Japanese hotpot, and offered up to hungry Hong Kongers with a time limit of 60 or 90 minutes. Most recently, Mou Mou has joined the ‘Green Monday’ ideal, which entails an all-you-can-eat unlimited vegetarian food deal for 90 minutes. This includes fresh mushrooms and an assorted vegetarian balls set, which a tofu flour mix so surprisingly bouncy that you don’t even care an animal hasn’t died for your eating pleasure. Greenery aside, Mou Mou is really all about the all-you-can-eat meat, cooked in your choice of soup base — be it seaweed, pork bone, katsuo, kimchee, tomato or sweet soy sauce. The price for the buffet depends on the quality of beef you choose. For instance, the US imported beef set includes 3 courses and costs under $ 100 a person, whilst the Japanese wagyu beef set includes 8 courses at just under $ 300. On my last visit, we went for the wagyu — Australian wagyu with 6 courses. On top of your Australian wagyu beef, you get US imported beef, US Supreme imported beef, US supreme short rib, pork, and American chicken thighs. Yes, bring on the meat sweats!!! If you go for the Japanese wagyu, you also get an added course of seafood. We also opted for the free flow Asahi beer for an extra $ 18. Since there is a time limit, we usually feel like we have no option but to chug our drinks. This makes for a very fun, bloated night that I would definitely recommend to all.

All-you-can-eat are four of my favorite words. Or actually, since it’s hyphenated, it’s technically one word… But you catch my drift. Mou Mou Club is a great place to go to for all-you-can-eat Japanese hotpot. Of course, there’s the free-flow of meat, and I like that even if the restaurant is busy, they don’t take their time in bringing it over to your table to ensure that you’re not eating more of your money’s worth. And they do get extremely busy at peak hours — there was this one night in January and it was freezing that day — my friends were dying to have a nice hotpot dinner to warm ourselves up. But Mou Mou Club was booked full for the night and told us that we would have to wait at aleast an hour if we were to walk in! There’s a pretty decent variety of food at Mou Mou Club. There’s the standard fare of vegetables, tofu, noodles, shiitake mushroom etc. The vegetables are all very fresh and I really like the noodles here. They may just be ordinary noodles, but they taste great with the hot pot soup base! Speaking of that, one good thing is that the soup base(we usually go with seaweed) doesn’t get super salty afterwards. When you’ve eaten to your heart’s content, go for the ice cream! They usually have 3 or 4 flavors out — standard ones like vanilla and chocolate. In my opinion, the ice cream here isn’t great but still is a great way to finish off the meal. A word of advice — try to book a table before you come. It’ll surprise you how full this place can get, even on a weekday! I normally go to the Mou Mou Club at World Trade Center in Causeway Bay and there’s always groups of people waiting for a table outside the restaurant. I would think that the Hung Hom location might be the least packed, so if you want to walk in, it may be best for you to check out this one!
