Went there specifically for Banh Mi for lunch. «We don’t have it.» What lunch place doesn’t have a simple sandwich? It was at 12.10 as well so it wasn’t as if they ran out. Too many great Vietnamese restaurants in HK to go to an overpriced under stocked one.

Came here for lunch as it was convenient to find. We were seating immediately as the waitress brought us to a window seat facing the beautiful Hong Kong harbour. It was an awesome first floor view inside a Vietnamese restaurant. We had a baby with us, I could feel the waiters snarl as we asked for an extra bowl and a high chair for the baby. When the food came, the phở wasn’t steaming hot and the noodles were definately not the fresh kind of noodles. We also got a salad, which didn’t taste as crisp and crunchy as greens are. It’s alright for a Vietnamese place, definitely overpriced considering the location you are in. Nonetheless, it was a great view, and we weren’t urged to leave the restaurant, as you normally would in a restaurant in HK.

Good but overpriced for Vietnamese food. I think good Vietnamese food is fresh, simple and tasty and as a result, usually cheap. The food is good but other restaurants have equally good food for a third of the price.

Came here as a party of five and waited around 20 minutes to get seated, which was expected on a crowded Friday night. Four of us got coconuts as a drink and it was very refreshing. We then proceeded to order our food. The chicken wings we got as an appetizer were way too oily. My four friends had phở noodles and really enjoyed it. However, I ordered the cold vermicelli bowl with stir-fried lemongrass beef and didn’t get my food until 30 minutes later. I understand if it takes longer to make the stir fried beef than the phở noodles, but by the time I started eating, my friends were long done with their food. When I asked for the status of my food, the waiter and waitress both told me «it’s coming, just wait a little more.» It seems like they forgot to put in my order because tables around me who came later already got their food(they also ordered vermicelli). Not especially happy about the fact that I had to watch my friends eat and then have them wait for me to finish my food. The food was decent, nothing too special. The view is fantastic if you get the inner tables.

The Vietnamese coffee was good and the price was okay. I got a soft shell crab roll and shrimp roll. But I have to say I was not impressed by the rolls, they were both uninspired. The soft shell crab was especially disappointing because I think they used a weird or bland batter on the crab so it didn’t taste good to me.

I am currently based in Hong Kong for the spring semester for a business school exchange. I love Cantonese food to my heart, but I definitely was afraid I wouldn’t be able to find semi-authentic Vietnamese food if I had the cravings. I was wrong when I found Nha Trang in Tsim Sha Tsui. Nha Trang is surprising a local favorite as the queue times can be to upwards of 25 – 30 minutes for a two person table. When we were given our seats, I reviewed the beautiful menu and saw the fish sauce bottle and know that this was truly a Vietnamese restaurants. There were many dishes that I do not typically see offered when I am in the states such as Hanoi skewer and imported Saigon beer. The prices for the dishes are standard of TST and on par with U.S. We ordered the phở tai ga, bun thit nuong, crispy banh xeo, Hanoi skewer, and two imported Saigon beers. For the most part, these dishes were decent and definitely a step above other Vietnamese Hong Kong based chains. I love the broth of the phở. It reminded me of home and definitely satisfied me with the clear and simple flavor. The bun was interesting as it is not the noodles that I typically see in this dish. It was good nonetheless. The banh xeo was okay… a bit expensive as it was $ 7USD for one banh xeo. And lastly, the hanoi skewers were very delicious when wrapped with the herbs and dipped into the fish sauce. Overall, I agree with other Unilocalers that Nha Trang Restaurant is the closest thing to Vietnamese food in Hong Kong. Enjoy!

One of the things I love about Vietnamese cuisine is the vivid colors from the ingredients used. Greens from limes. Reds from chilies. Yellows from egg foo young. Etc. It seems Hong Kong is in need of a good bowl of phở; while here in Vancouver, we are in dire need of authentic Vietnamese Food. Last time I was in Hong Kong, I had to revisit Nha Trang Vietnamese Restaurant Hong Kong 芽莊越式料理. Nha Trang has a wide variety of fancier Vietnamese dishes from salad rolls, skewers, noodles, grilled seafood, etc. Nha Trang Vietnamese Restaurant has a few locations around Hong Kong(Central Wellington Street, Tsim Sha Tsui Ocean Terminal, ShaTin New Town Plaza I). Maybe I am a bit of a tourist, but I prefer Harbour City Ocean Terminal because of the amazing view the city has to offer. If you are lucky, you may get the table overlooking the Hong Kong Cityline view. CUALOTCHIENCUON 會安軟殼蟹卷 SOFTSHELLCRABROLLS58: Crispy deep fried soft shell crab wrapped with herb salad in a roll. It is paired with crunchy cucumber. This medley of texture is delicious! I love the soft chewiness of the rice roll against the crispy crunchiness of the deep fried soft shell crab. Amazing! GOIBONUONG 燒牛柳沙津 GRILLEDBEEFSALAD80: Stir fried slices of marinated grilled beef, charred at their edges. Tossed with chopped cucumber, onion, tomato, chilli pepper and fresh herbs finished with a lemongrass, crushed peanut and lime dressing. This was a very flavorful dish with some heat, acidity and bite. The lime was bright with lemongrass, cilantro, and other herbs. THITBO/GA/TOM NUONGXA 香茅串燒 雞 /牛 /蝦 GRILLEDLEMONGRASSCHICKEN /BEEF /PRAWN: It wasn’t easy to tell everyone to stop eating to let me take a picture. Good thing I am with family. The skewers are infused with lemongrass and a sweet marinate. A mild nutty satay dip is served on the side. The prawns were delicious. Chicken were tender. But the beef was on the chewy side. BUNCHACA 河內魚餅撈檬 COLDVERMICELLIBOWLWITHHANOIFISHCAKE: Minced fish cakes are popular Northern Vietnamese appetizers. The fish is minced and mixed with chopped fresh water chestnut and is seasoned with fresh dill. Served with fish sauce and cold vermicelli underneath. It is a refreshing dish amidst a lot of hot, spicy dishes. BANHCUON 清沅蒸粉卷 VIETNAMESESTEAMEDRICERAVIOLI65: Thin translucent rice-flour sheets wrap a filling of seasoned minced shrimp and pork steamed parcels. Once steamed, it is topped with deep-fried garlic flakes. All can be wrapped in accompanying crisp lettuce leaf and dipped in our house nuoc nam fish sauce. I’m really looking forward to try the Grilled Beef Wrapped in Pepper Leaves Bo La Lot made with marinated sliced beef grilled in pepper leaf and served with pickled plum and lime sauce. GOIBUOI 邊和燒大蝦柚子沙律 POMELOANDGRILLEDPRAWNSALAD80: Two jumbo char-grilled prawns, peeled pomelo, shredded cucumber, sliced red onion, toasted cashew nut and black sesame seed, sprinkled with fried shallot and garlic flakes. The pomelo was not bitter and had just the right amount of citrus acidity and sweetness. Everything mixed together was so refreshing against the hot stuffiness lingering in air. MUCNHOITHIT 香煎釀墨魚 PAN-SEAREDSTUFFEDSQUID78: Fresh young squid are filled with a pork, chopped squid, garlic and ginger stuffing before grilling. The squid is tender and not chewy. This is one of my favorite dishes from Nha Trang. I love the slightly charred grilled squid flavors. COMTAM 越南碎米飯 BROKENRICEPLATTER70: I love myself a mean rice platter of broken rice. Broken Rice means grains that are not whole, but broken. The texture is less fluffy and a bit nutty. This a popular Southern Vietnamese rice dish and is usually served with barbecued meats and egg dishes. Nha Trang rice platter includes ground toasted rice, shredded pork, grilled lemongrass pork chop and steamed frittata egg foo young. Have you found that perfect bowl of phở yet in Hong Kong? Please let me know. I’d like to try it on my next trip back.

One of the many things I miss most about living in New York is the Vietnamese food! I know some people might disagree, but the Phở in NY is so much better than the MSG filled Phở I find here in Hong Kong. Every time someone tells me about a delicious Vietnamese restaurant in town, I make it my mission to go and try in hopes to fill the void. Nha Trang is the closest I’ve gotten to in my search of good Phở. The broth here is quite aromatic, but a bit on the salty side. They have an extensive menu for you to choose from. Rice, Noodles, Soups, and a great selection of yummy appetizers. We choose to have spring rolls and a pomelo salad to start. The spring rolls were crispy, meat was well marinated before wrapping and the fish sauce it came with, very nice! The pomelo salad was also a good choice for us. The flavor was mild and it was served very cold. Super refreshing! The view here isn’t bad either! Looking directly at the harbor, Nha Trang at this Ocean Terminal location is very relaxing. With that said, the wait to actually get into the restaurant might stress you out. There is always a line for a table here. There is a time during the day that they close between lunch and dinner service. Before dinner service opens, there would be a line. If you’re not the first round of tables to get seated, you’re looking at about a 25 – 30 minute wait easily.
