This review is for their afternoon tea. I really like the Palm Court afternoon tea. The session takes place in the lobby of the Langham TST Hotel. Although it is in the lobby, the restaurant is creatively located on the side of the main«lobby» lobby. So while sitting on the comfy sofas and chairs, you feel relaxed and calm. It is a huge contrast to the hustle and bustle scene you will experience at the Peninsula Hotel afternoon tea in the lobby. I don’t know about you, but to me, afternoon tea is all about relaxation and quiet enjoyment. You eat a little, drink a little, chat a little or read a little. And Palm Court offers all that. The sofas/chairs are spaced far enough apart that it allows you to have a private conversation or make some noise without feeling embarrassed. The tea selection is huge — my favorite is always the flavored teas such as the strawberry or peach tea. Their selection of pastries and savories are all delicious and I must say that their crème brûlée(if on the menu as they alternate) is one of the best I’ve had so far. I still talk about it to this day. I like that they give you the scones a little bit later so you can eat them warm. The only reason why I took away 1 star is that they changed their plates and serving tray. First, the plates are way too big for the number of items they have on it. As a result, the assortment and portions look«skimpy.» It’s really not. They offer 8 – 10 different type of pastries/savories, but with the big plate, it looks skimpy. Secondly, the tray. Before, the tray sits on the table. Now recently, they changed the tray to a tall, FLOOR-standing one. While it does save room on the table for teapots and plates, having a floor-standing stand to the side of the chairs is not efficient and practical. People sitting on the opposite end can not reach the stand at all. Not a good design. These are areas for improvement.

The food here is supremely overpriced for Hong Kong… especially given the minute portions… it really should be described as tapas! We ordered a small bottle of water, a G&T, the salmon salad and the risotto and ended up being out of pocked USD $ 90.00! The salmon salad was somewhat misrepresented — it was 5 small pieces of salmon, 4 minute pieces of rocket and 1 piece of lettuce. For the size of the dish, the price was ridiculous. The food was good and the atmosphere convivial… service was efficient and friendly…

Langham Hotel Hong Kong 朗廷酒店 in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong was quite the treat whilst travelling, rushing around meeting up with friends and family. From hookah bars and shisha lounges, private Thai kitchens to outdoor kitchens, and your coffee house and dives, an afternoon tea revolving around a fairy tale theme with my girls(and a me day away from the hubs) was delightful. The Palm Court at the Langham Hotel was traditionally classic with all the bells and whistles — chandelier, plush seats, silverware and friendly services. Most of all, they were able to accommodates us with such little notice. Please remember to RSVP. There are two tiffin features available 1. Sleeping Beauty: traditional sandwich and scones or 2. Beauty and the Beast: chocolate-inspired. Both sets comes with a soufflé at the end with three choices flavors of Mango Caraibe Chocholate, Ginger and Candied Mandarin, and Hazelnut Cappuccino and choice of sauces: Raspberry Mint, Bitter Chocolate, and vanilla Bean. $ 218HKD /pp| $ 398HKD /2 pp Sleeping Beauty Passion fruit quark cheese cake Strawberry chiffon cake Raspberry brioche Crisp profiterole with green apple Coconut panna cotta, mango compote Lemon«marshmallow» macaron Beauty and the Beast Hazelnut and chocolate chip cupcake Bitter chocolate and vanilia cream tartlet Three ways chocolate Noire orange with almonds Bitter Lactee with blueberry chips Ivoire with crispy raspberry Chocolate raspberry delight White chocolate and vanilla chestnut cream with apricot Either tea sets pairs with the follow tea sandwiches and savouries Slow cooked corn-fed chicken and foie gras wrap Scottish smoked salmon, ceps duxelles, horseradish cream and candied beets Mini organic banquette with caviar, roma tomato and organic egg sandwich Cilantro crêpe roll with celeriac and blue lump crabmeat Black truffle butter and wagyu beef and hot house cucumber tea sandwich Quail scotch egg Traditional raisin and classic scones with clotted cream and preserves. We ordered two Sleeping Beauty and one Beauty and the Beast. The presentation was beautiful and the selection was amazing. Plenty of savory finger sandwiches to go around and all made delicately with great flavors. Not your typical cucumber sandwiches! Next we move onto the sweets of macaron, chocolates, and tartlets from mildly sweet to bouncing of the walls type of sweet. There is something for all walks of life. I love the variety of scones(anything more than just the classic is a bonus) and Devonshire cream and jam preserves. Any of course we order one of each soufflé flavored at the end: Mango Caraibe Chocholate, Ginger and Candied Mandarin, and Hazelnut Cappuccino and and choice of sauces: Raspberry Mint, Bitter Chocolate, and vanilla Bean. The soufflé was light and airy, tho it looks as it has already collapsed a bit by the time we began nibbling at it. Langham Hotel Hong Kong Afternoon tea may not have the bird’s eye view of CAFÉ103 at The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong but you can enjoy a reasonably priced tiffin without fending off crowds. Just remember it is located on the TST side, not over by Mong Kok.
