Very chill alternative feeling space in bustling Times Square. Free WiFi meets Mao memorabilia everywhere. Its for sale too! I’ve had study nights here a couple of times. It was always quiet and relaxed. Their mint tea with rock honey was excellent. I also tried some food. The pepper sausage with mixed vegetables over spaghetti plate was huge, enough for two servings, and reasonably priced around 80HKD. Good rainy day studying food. The other thing I love is the Jazz they play. It is relaxing and awesome.

I came across this place when I accidentally saw a banner that says you may find banned books inside, so I walked up two flights of stairs and found myself in a rather cozy and relaxing environment. At first glance, this place is no difference than other upstairs bookstores, however, if you can read Chinese, soon you can see lots of books that are prohibited in China and these books are one of the reasons why you have to come pay a visit. Also, this place has several tables for you to read books while enjoying coffee there. This place may not be as common as other coffee shops like Starbu*ks or Pacific Coff*e, that is definitely the point of this establishment. A little bit hidden makes it difficult to be visited by all those tourists with luggage and stuff so you can really focus on reading. Notice that all books here are free for browsing. If you have time to kill, come and talk to the friendly staff.(Since it is a bit short-staffed, it may take a while before you can get what you order.) Some may say the price is a bit expensive, however it will be totally worth it given the relaxing and tranquil environment where you can REALLY pace yourself in a city of hustle and bustle. Also, you will definitely fall in love with this place if you are looking for banned books. So informative and wide-ranged.
