We missed dim sum at the Peninsula and came here as a back up. The view of the harbor was excellent but food and service just so so. We ordered a dim sum platter for two and the fried wide noodle. The dim sum was pretty meh but the noodles not bad. We paid about $ 40 usd which seemed pretty high for what we ate… But I guess the view is what we paid for. Plus 1* for their careful attention they pay to lost items– my wife left her sunglasses and they were super good about taking care of them until we can back to get them.

Stay away from this place. Mediocre food, high prices, inattentive staff. They don’t tell you the tea and peanuts they serve you when you’re seated are extra $.

If you’re seeking a meal that absolutely screams«Hong Kong», then Serenade is the perfect place. With traditional Dim Sum lunches and traditional Cantonese dinners, Serenade provide the ultimate Hong Kong dining experience, with no Cantonese language skills needed! We had made a point to visit one of the Maxim restaurants(the group that runs Serenade) and we knew we wanted a Dim Sum lunch. It was Day 1 of the Chinese New Year so we feared a wild crowd but it turned out there was no wait at all. While, the place was quite full, we managed to easily snag a table. The restaurant is quite traditional with an upscale flair. Crisp table linens, traditional dim sum carts, and sharp crystal chandeliers. While the place was packed with tourists dressed casually, I did feel a tad under-dressed. We actually ended up eating here twice… by accident… on the same day. We came here for Dim Sum lunch before a pre-arranged tour that included dinner. On that tour, we pulled up at Serenade to our surprise. The food was great so we didn’t mind. Plus. the food was completely different at dinner so we got 2 sample two different experiences. We had so many different dishes at each meal, I can hardly remember all the things we tried. My favorite Dim Sum items included the egg yolk buns shaped like hedgehogs, the pork & chive dumplings, and the bbq pork buns. At dinner, my favorites included the sweet & sour chicken and the shrimp fried rice. The service was decent but I wouldn’t call it the highlight of the meal. The language barrier may play a bit of the role in this. The overall experience made up for the so-so friendliness of the staff. Overall, we really enjoyed both meals and the traditional experience. If you must only pick one meal, definitely come for Dim Sum lunch!
