Sim City

So many camera places!!! We found a great one that did an awesome deal on a camera my friend was buying and me being quite cheeky when my friend got a free cleaning kit included I asked if I could have one too, and he gave me one! Just because my friend was buying he threw in another one for me free and I didn’t buy anything. But because of the great service I will go back there to get any of my camera needs.

There are a few places where you can get all, and when I say all I mean ALL gadgets, for your 3C products (computer, communication & consumer electronics). You can find them at the Golden Mall at Sham Shui Po, Mong Kong Computer Centre, Mong Kong Sim City, Wan Chai Computer Computer Mall, and Wan Chai 298, 188 Malls.
Of these malls, Sim City is one of the top ranked in terms of cleanliness, and ease of access. Unlike some other malls where you need to go out of the way in order to get there, this place is pretty easy to pass by, as it sits on a street one black away from Tung Choi Street, one of the busiest streets in Kowloon.
Be it external hard disks, usb ‘fingers’, all sorts of charging cables, sim card adapters (to make small cards functional on older phones), screen guards, self-​learning tutorial books on computer softwares (even books for International Japanese language exam!), camera bags, straps, you name it, and you can probably find it here.
Although one might say the prices here ain’t ask cheap as that in Sham Shui Po, but it is such a timesaver. In Golden at Sham Shui Po I often feel lost in the sea of gadgets but here, the displays are rather clear, and I can easily just grab and go with what I needed in 10 min.s.
The shop that I’d spend the most amount of time here is the book store. It carries many Taiwan or Mainland tutorial books, and saves my time from hunting them down at Book City at Shenzhen and other upstairs-​bookstores too.

Sim City is one of my go-​to places when I’m ever in need of camera gear. It’s comprised of 3 floors of shops that cater to camera-​geeks… and a lone sex shop, don’t ask me why it’s there.
I love going to Sim City for two reasons. The first is to window shop and the second to to actually spend money, when I have it. There are few things in life that set my passions alight, one of which is finding affordable camera accessories that really make a difference, call me lame but I’m sure there are more than a few stranger passions out there, like stamp collecting. The complex has everything from second hand DSLRs, to selfie poles (is that what they are called?), reflectors and so much more. If you’re not into camera gadgets then you wouldn’t understand! I am and it’s like heaven… with a price tag.
Buying from a second hand store is never easy, will the camera work longer than a week? is a common question, and rightly so. Throughout the years I’ve purchased numerous items from Sim City — studio lights, a second hand camera, memory cards, to name a few — and I’ve have very few problems with them. When I have had minor issues I’ve brought the product back with the receipt and the problem was dealt with.
Many of the stores are also open to buying your camera/​lens if it’s in working condition. I’ve never gone through the process but I would expect poor prices. Buy low sell high, and all that. Knowing, however, that should I need to get some spare cash (to buy another camera) I can swap in an old camera is useful. As far as buying prices go I’d say they are cheaper than Wan Chai Computer centre but not the cheapest in Hong Kong, for that you’ll have to go to Sham Shui Po!
